This is great for introverts or people who have social anxiety. I have a difficult time interacting with people even with close friends. Sometimes I just don't know what to say. I miss social cues as well.
No special effects, no music, no stupid animation. Just pure lesson with pure sound, good and proper examples and charming teacher. THANK YOU. You're like island of common sense among the sea of crap on the internet.
Something that has helped me in holding a conversation is LISTENING! Don't just ask your question then doze off into your phone or think about what your going to say next, but actually LISTEN. It's an exercise sometimes, but worth it.
Am good at listening just not at opening my mouth lol I rarely have questions, I just want to listen about anything that person deems interesting, I dont even want to interrupt unless it's some ridiculous shi like gossip or stupid shi like that and idk how to change that

Just a correction if you’re interested. “But this man made me fall in love with learning English” (Also, as a side note: In more formal language, especially written text, the word ‘but’ isn’t really used at the start of a sentence. Instead, words such as: However, Although, Yet, (and others), are used more commonly.
You only don't know when there is no need to start a convo. It's ok. I am the same. I only strike a convo and socialize when I have no choice in a new environment
Don't be shy. Some new Canadians feel bad about their English but many of us longer term Canadians are used to this and are willing to listen and help. Especially in Toronto, I have a nack for picking up broken English.

Hi. I love how this gentleman explains everything. He is perfect teacher for some like me. Today I wanted to tell something. ( it’s nothing negative about him so don’t worry, it’s just personal experience. ) if you want to continue conversation, especially people that English is their second language. I suggest talk and use this technique on your first language. Even u learn this but u r not talkative person in ur language, it’s quite hard to talk in English. Some people might be disagree with me. Please it just my personal experience so don’t take it far deep down.
I consider myself to be a natural conversationalist. This lesson is exceptional! I've never thought about conversing in this way before. My father gave me great advise when I was younger and I always took it to heart. "The best advice my father gave me was to talk to people." I do just that. You can learn so much just from talking to people. I cut hair for a living and one of my best tools is my ability to converse w all types of people. My knowledge of many different things. Whether it's current events, politics (a big no no...) history, pop culture, music, etc. I take pride in being able to hold a conversation w anyone about anything. This lesson is so helpful! It's given me something to think about and as I'm sure you know, knowledge is power! Thank you so much. On a side note the way you dress is second to none!!!!!
One quick note, it’s ok to ask body related questions when it comes to tattoos and sometimes piercings. It’s fun a person to talk about their tattoos at times

for my experience i normally ask the other person is what do they like amongst variant subjects for example: music / movie genre, hobbies, if they have a specific activity you commonly act like gaming, asking about most proud / embarrassing memory (this is when you've gotten deep into the convo usually so you would have created a comfortable environment for the other party), what types of activity do they most love / hate and more so behavioural questions but this video has certainly extended my information. Thank you James.
James, I am about to tell you a story: you changed my life. This is a real story, not a random comment. Some years ago I could only write, read and talk, but not listen properly in english. I watched a class from you, which you would teach some techniques to improve listening, and I took it for real. I took those techniques and I finally 'unlocked' my hearing/listening english skills, like, 7 years ago I guess? I remember I used to feel bad about it, 'cus I wouldn't understand shit when somebody was talking. And as a foreign, that sucks. Okay, that wisdom could be within, but, you brought me confidence. Maybe the last video I watched from you was 2 years ago. No cap. I just came across one of your videos in my timeline, and I felt that I needed to testify you this. The number 1, most cliche question asked on a first date: "So, what kind of music do you listen to?" Most basic answer: "I listen to everything!" No TF you dont!
So on point lmao. Once I ask somebody that question and they say they listen to everything I look at them and I say “even country music” and then they say no. so obviously it’s not everything

Not to make them attractive, to understand what the other person finds attractive so you know whether you have that same thing the other person wants.
