SCORING BARRELS In 40mph OFFSHORE WIND

50-60mph winds cause flooding, that strands Jeffrey in Rodanthe, and I end up finding some barrels in the 30-40mph offshore winds that happen before dark. BUT THEN... the next day when it was suppose to be flat, I find some nice tubes and take my GoPro tail mount board from Ian Balding out for some creative fun! Making the most out of every swell we get :)

does the tail mount throw you off when the barrel pinches or clips it? sick shots! btw as usual
@@amputee11 you don't feel it getting hit by the lip or anything, but you have to ride the board with the pole in mind. it's definitely a challenge.

I was with a friend. But I surf alone often when conditions are tough and a lot of guys don’t want to deal with the hassle.

But when you’re stuck in gray cold rainy Richmond these wonderful videos are reminders of life elsewhere. I love how you throw your feet over your back to get weight forward right at take off. I never thought of doing that on a short board
that's not really what's happening... you're just seeing a perspective that shows how I paddle DOWN the face to get under the lip. has nothing to do with shifting weight, it's just the literal position of going inverted on the takeoff.

As a surfer and mainly photographer and video guy myself I just find all of these mesmerising. Reall really impressive footage and editing. Definitely the best surfing vlog content out there at the moment! Love that gopro mount, hows it attached?

Your wave size scale gets less EC and more Hawaiian every edit. Never fear tho VB will always hold the EC scale accurate. If we say it is stomach, you are definitely not getting dry barrels unless you are in a sponge and under age 10. Sick GoPro footage.
Bob Nery you do realize GoPros make barrels look bigger than they are right? I promise you 100% there wasn’t a wave over head high the first day, or shoulder high the second day. I’ll never go Hawai’i scale, always true to size.

it's cold right now... was 46 last time I surfed a few days ago. it all depends on swell... more south swell, warmer water, more east or North swell, colder water.
what board were you riding with the tail mount on it? it looked like it had a really pulled in tail on it
