Egor is a legend in the scene! The gazzas aren’t the best for cornering. Better as a rear tyre, a halo contra 3.0 would be better up front for cornering. There is also a guy called Filip doing siesmic replica hubs if you do decide to go with 24s. some things i like about videos, we feel your passion and enjoyment. As you said you at the end, you are free to do what you want which is something i only see one other bike channel do, just once. Not just your own build, but it like taking a old car, and making it your car. you see the tuck channels, people swapping out parts, giving it same extra character. As I get more in the bike world, it reminds me of when I in my teens and wanting to modify my sister sports car. But far cheaper and easier, as in anyone can do it and not have worry about to much. good stuff, I am happy for you. I think many of us our! keep it up.
My guy, the odds of you finding a bike that old in such amazing condition is unicorn rare. Super good score bro. Glad a bike ninja has custody of such a good bike
Fork tuning info: To ramp up compression progression raise the oil level 10 mm. If that’s not enough add more. What you’re doing is reducing the amount of air space in the fork. Air compresses, fork oil doesn’t. This will keep the fork plush during the first portion of travel, but stiffen up the end of travel, ‘cause of less air to compress. Make sense? I used to ride Marzocchi forks back when they were oil bath coil sprung. I jumped a lot & did my own maintenance. Learned this trick from the Motocross racers.
@@JordanBoostmaster This is such an awesome project. I still have a 2004 Monster T on my old Kona Stab Primo DH bike. They seem to lose oil over time and then compression and rebound damping adjustments don't seem to work as well no mater how much you close the adjusters. Fresh oil at the correct levels (or little higher) make a big difference I have found. Also, you probably already knew, but LSC is bottom of right leg, HSC is top of left leg, and rebound is top of right leg.
I tried this trick and it absoluteny works but one tip is to take the spring out and push the fork all the way in and then top it off with oil and you'll get the most progressiveness with littles't loss of travel
Pretty cool that you revive all these old bikes. While other channels are showcasing the latest and greatest bikes and components, you carry more skill on your 15 year old bikes than a lot of these guys do on their modern high end rigs.

I owned the '05 and still have my '06 A-Line. The stock 888 needed a stiff spring upgrade on the one side and running a 500lbs spring in the back was absolutely necessary. Your front end is washing out because you've changed the geometry of the bike with the Monster.

Great video Jordan. Really got me thinking about building up an old dh bike. But just have to find a goody. Never ridden a dh bike but building up an old dh bike I think well worth it.
Absolutely love these videos. Mtb history is so interesting, more people need to do videos on this kinda stuff. Crazy looking back at the roots of the sport. That bike is beautiful!
That thing is awesome. I wonder if you can put a angle-set headset on it to slacken that fork out a bit. That would help with that front tire being “pushed” around the corners.
Replacing the old fluids in the forks will make a supermassive difference.. You could also try slightly more than recommend amount of fluid in the damper to make it stiffer. It works on my old Totems and allegedly is not so uncommon practice..
