1. Make it about them - focus on benefits 2. Make it an event - nothing attracts a crowd like a crowd 3. Powerful demonstration - USE PHYSICS! 4. Sell the dream - Nike makes you believe you can jump like Michael Jordan 7. Help them rebel - stick it to "the man"
This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my RUclips channel 8 months ago about self development. Now I have 1,206 subs and > 1,000 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.
This is the essence of marketing. Moving the market forward, creating new markets, giving your competitors a hard time following. Cheers for all the goodness from this video!
Edward Bernays is called the "godfather of propaganda". He is the nephew Sigmund Freud. The nephew of Bernays is one of the founders of Netflix. Marc Bernays Randolph. He is continuing the legacy of his uncle. They are what is known as "social engineers".
And this is why this podcast is my absolute favorite podcast on the internet. Shaan, you are so positive and attentive with your guests, its infectious! I want to be like Shaan Puri when I'm in my 40's.
3 stages of a product market according to Craig: 1. Clueless - when you need to create the marketing wave because nobody knows anything about the product 2. Curious - people have probably heard the term of your product 3. Saturation - household term which makes it difficult to compete

I know a guy who made over 20 million off of Green Coffee Bean extract because Dr. Oz mentioned it and he was one of the only 2 amazon stores selling that garbage at the time. Dude went from living in his mom's garage to living in South Beach and driving a Lamborghini within 30 days lol.. so cool
If you’ve never heard these stories before I assume you’ve literally never read a book about marketing. This is all pretty well known stories in the marketing space
great content thank you. I have fired 4 marketing teams for my VR business because not one of them made any headway or listened to what I was saying about connecting with customers.. I have actually done better marketing myself and I am not a marketer. Seeing this got my head spinning about what I can do. Thank you I will track the campaigns and the revenue and see how it goes trying these new concepts.
Funny they mention Dr. Oz and resveratrol. I once was at the Vitamin Shoppe and the people working there took several calls asking if they had it in stock because Dr. Oz just mentioned it on his show. Apparently the Vitamin Shoppe would always know if Dr. Oz mentioned something because they'd get a blitz of calls all asking about the same supplement.
lol, this was the first episode I listened to on Apple Podcast and I kept picturing Richard Branson every time Craig said something. Dudes got a voice for the ages.
I recognized it but took awhile til remembered where I had heard him from. He was kind of a dating guru back in early 2000s. He said "if you start the interaction off with a bang, its more likely to end with a bang." Classic!
In India people were brushing their teeth for atleast 2000 yrs, many chinese travellers have written about Buddhists and how they had rules about monks in Nalanda University on personal hygeine how to use Neem Datun (Neem Branch) to clean the tooth. How to take bath and clean your bowel movements and how to wash hand after. This is all documented in 1500 yrs old notes.
Terrific podcast! Thank you! But I have to mention that I cannot stand ASMR videos. Whispering, scratching, eating, breaking, doesn't matter. ALL the sounds make my skin crawl to the extreme that many experience when hearing nails down a chalkboard. Would love to determine why...
This was really awesome, you should do more ideas around creative marketing ideas! If you're interested in more about Edward Bernays I would highly recommend watching 'The Century of the Self' and any of Adam Curtis's documentaries really. They are fascinating. Also, to add to this list Listerine did a great marketing job where they kind of invented the fear of 'halitosis' (bad breath) to sell mouth wash.
PRODUCER: Fix the first link to Ep. 95 in the Description... It is Broken because You included the ) in the link address... Shaan - Told Ya You should have Hired Me... It's ALL About the Details... NO SMALL BOY STUFF !!!
But how can we actually differentiate between the truth and the marketing thing? For example, this movement against sugar and its harm to the body is the actual thing or just a marketing from the next generation of sweeteners?

Michael Jordan 😂
bless your heart.
this has no point if you don't include the context
Cool

Absolutely love this podcast. Never stop making content like this
This episode changed my life. I’m never brushing my teeth or drinking OJ again, but I’ll still eat bacon.
Same haha
Wow this is your best episode, BY FAR!

I need to buy a Tesla so I can take better notes of MFM while driving.
A+ episode, boys.

what's he doing now I wonder?
@CoconutPete still selling supplements but nowhere close to the volume he did with that indirect Dr. Oz promo
@angelocean365 do you have access to the indirect Dr. OZ promo?
This is one of my favorites I've listened to .
This guy has definitely read scientific advertising
Brilliant episode Sirs!
Low-key don’t want this podcast to blow up so info like this isn’t exposed to the masses. Selfish, I know.
If more people listens to it, there will be better and better content
I had to get my head around a concept like this as well... the thing is though, majority of people don't/won't commit even if they knew what to do
Many may hear the information, only a small percentage will apply it.

Such a great episode with great storytelling and lots of take away points. Thanks for this gem!
MFM for the high value content win. Shaan and Sam-your dedication to education is next-level.
5:50 Craig said hijack the limbic system - I pulled out my notebook no lie.
He shot the bullet from a right angle that it hit my creativity. Amazing session 👏👏

Loving these early EST uploads ❤
Excellent episode like always 👏
Shaan really managed to get Mark Wahlberg on the pod??

Mark Walmart.
When Shaan stood up I thought he was going to be wearing just underwear.
This guy looks like parallel universe version of Mark Wahlberg lol

I had the fortune of meeting Craig in NYC years ago. He's given me a ton of great advice over the years. Brilliant entrepreneur and super cool dude 💯
I recognized his voice from waaaaay back in the day. He was a guest of David DeAngelo (Ebin Pegan) at a double your dating seminar
Astonishing content Guys! 💯💯 Thanks to share your knowledge with us. 🥳
“But I hope you brought some ketamine…”
Confirmed coolest person at the party

Who else knows Craig from David D'Angelo dvds? 😁
Yes!!! Back in early 2000s
man ! I gained so much from this video. thanks a lot
Dr Oz was also sued into oblivion and was a huge reason as to why we have some of the safeguards for internet marketing we have in place today
Amazing. I greatly appreciate this!
The add that is snuck in now in the first few mins every ep is brutal, forces the immediate drag forward 10 mins or so into the ep
I hate how they always stick the hubspot ad in there. I'd hit the skip thinking it was a normal ad but then itd go to the next vid, grrr
Anyone got a link to that Legendary Keybiotics Video?
Wasn't all of this covered in the book The power of habit? 🤔😉
Awesome video. Thank you

grate episode! US political ads are wild 💀
I would totally buy MFM probiotics.
Gotta get him on again
Craig is definitely top 5 of greatest living marketers - this was definitely a marketing masterclass
who are the other 4?
I've not heard anyone talk about Craig. He was kind of a dating guru back in the early 2000s
I've watched this three times now
Shaan doesn't know Edward Bernays?! this is gonna be epic.
Mark Wahlberg dropping knowledge

Really cool insights. Probably one of the best episodes of the pod in a long time
But how can we actually differentiate between the truth and the marketing thing? For example, this movement against sugar and its harm to the body is the actual thing or just a marketing from the next generation of sweeteners?
Brilliant Me. Otis.
FYI; he also made his female employees to wear nylons (during that era an employer can get away with that).
