Yep, it came out after Oblivion, and the marketing made it seem like a similar film just cuz they’re both sci-fi. Edge is the much superior film tho so it’s sad it didn’t get the attention it deserved.
Wow, so that's what happened? I recently re-watched this movie, and I can't believe why it was not super hyped up when it came, it's a "fun" new plot, and so well made.
Edge of Tomorrow: In the book, the Loop is 160 days however in the movie Given the frequency with which he dies It is a few years. He goes from a marketing man to a hardened soldier, knows the beach battle like the back of his hand and wears that exo-skeleton like he was born in it.
no he didn't ; he tried to blackmail a foreign officer. This was an issue that caused my father (a WWII veteran) to quit the American Legion. Until recently, Americans did not fight under command of inferior militaries.
@@Hiraghm Apples and oranges. Cage was under the command of this general as is clearly stated. In times of world wide war with aliens in the future, I would suspect the military protocol would be slightly different than in WW2. You are also assuming that the USA has a superior fighting force in this fictional future. But I get your point.
I just finished your Groundhog Day Reaction and I dunno who told you Edge of Tomorrow was inspired by Groundhog day... maybe, But EoT was based on a manga made by the author of Death Note. The MC name Keiji so the American MC is Cage.
If you think about it… he’s probably known her *FOR YEARS* _in his timeline,_ possibly a decade or because he’s died thousands of times in this process, they skip so many failed attempts. So it makes sense that he’s in love with her.
This movie is single-handedly the reason why I love Emily Blunt. Absolutely love the concept and it's great to see it used in an action movie that still has all the hallmarks of a sci-fi time loop movie. It works really well and both lead actors/characters are superb.
I didn't want to watch this movie so I didn't go see it in the because it just didn't interest me. Then my Dad bought it on DVD and he was telling about how great it was. The next time I visited him he showed me the movie and I was totally blown away about how it was such a good movie. Boy was I wrong!
But are you allowed, even if you're a General, to forger a charge, and risk lives of soldiers, by placing an unfit soldier within their unit? General is a War criminal.
@@petuna2666 My uncle hates him. Because he was stationed at the Naval base where they filmed the original _Top Gun_ and apparently the shoot or Tom Cruise's attitude or both was a major inconvenience for everyone stationed there.
yea I watch this with my mum and and brother in IMAX who are hard core Marines. This was the first movie in which we really connected. My daughter who is really into anime brought me to this book, and the ending is different and more dark, ive had dreams of how it was really supposed to play out in the end.
Just imagine if the entire Earth was fighting an alien invasion. The things that would be allowed to force people to fight would be crazy and apply to everyone
Again another great Cruise movie and imaginative as well. Those suits were really heavy, they all struggled with the weight of them. The actors between takes were suspended by chains by the suits to take the weight off their shoulders.
My favorite in that year. I did not know anyrhing about the movie when I went to the cinema. I just trusted because Oblivion was so good with Cruise too.
+TimotheeReacts this is a pretty great movie and one of the Tom Cruise movies I don’t get distracted by him. P.S. Looking good Timo 😍😉😜...You’re smile just lights up a room and the accent is just the cherry on top. Cant wait to see what is to come on the channel in 2021..hope you have a successful and happy year 😘✌️
This a surprisingly good movie... surprising because it deviated a lot from the original book. The Americanisation of the plot simplified the situation and character interactions a little, made it more a 'game' where he has to die each time (he just repeats in the book and it takes a while to work out why)... and the conclusion - well, here we have a Hollywood ending, in the book it's just you won that battle, but the war continues: so it felt more a slice of a much bigger story. With all that I expected the film to have lost too much in translation... but they made up for it by making it an action film, with just enough plot to keep it interesting. His final time jump doesn't make a lot of sense though unless the last time leap left the omega dead and collapsed the alien's network.
I read the script to the sequel and it's really really brilliant it's epic God and I didn't read all of it but most of it but apparently because it's really good is the reason Emily blunt is gonna do it.
I've got 3 recommendation... But not really: "Happy Death Day" Happy Death Day 2 U" "Project Almanac" It's not quite time loop more like time mechine back to fix the pass but in a time loop style.
Speaking of the title, the movie is based on a book called "All You Need is Kill" and had an alternate title of "Live/Die/Repeat". I think both of those are better titles than the somewhat generic-sounding "Edge of Tomorrow." Still a pretty good movie though.
That "Live Die Repeat" thing irritated me at the time! In the UK, they put the movie's TAGLINE in such prominent bold font on all physical advertising that many people actually thought it was the name of the movie - and still do, to this day?! Which it never was, anywhere. Who knows, maybe there are folks out there who think the Alien sequel is called "This Time It's Personal" ;)
don't you think having the other names would defeat the anticipation? I think the public would already know what's about to happen too early in the movie then
I love this movie! It seems there are 2 kinds of Tom Cruise movies, one where he's arrogant and over confident (and needs to do a lot of running) One where he's arrogant but is skilled at what he does (and needs to do a lot of running) I like how this movie you get the one Tom Cruise at the start and by the end have the other Tom Cruise. If you like this movie, check out Source Code, that's also a whole lot of fun like this one!
Saw this with my dad, and he commented afterwards that he loved the movie just for the fact that he'd never seen Tom Cruise playing a total coward before... and it turns out, he's really, really good at it! :)
The sgt didn't say he was from Kentucky because he was not smart; Kentucky was part of the Confederacy, so from a certain point of view... he's not American. Also, most people don't know it, but natural-born American citizens derive their U.S. citizenship from their State citizenship.
Salut... Tres bonne reaction. In about the same year as this movie, Tom Cruise was in another excellent Science Fiction with a mystery at its core: Oblivion. It is also a romance, but not cheesy. Plus, it has Olga Kurylenko, so beautiful and talented that her presence will catch your sympathy. Vous devez vraiement voir ce film, c'est fantastique.
I noticed that one of your polls gave Equilibrium a low rating. Let me tell you, this was before Christian Bale was cast as Batman, before he was hugely famous. It has a supporting cast every bit his equal, and a great story to tell. It also introduces an invention of the director which is completely thrilling: Gunchatka, I think it is called. It is fighting very fast with guns as weapons of blunt strike force as well as of fire. You will not believe your eyes when you see it. While you're at it, I recommend another Speculative Fiction movie with Bale before his stardom: Reign of Fire. It is imaginative and frightening and has a couple of electrifying scenes. And it gives really good Dragon. But it is not a sword and sandals type of fantasy. It takes place now-plus-a-few-years. Excellent. It would make a terrific double feature with Equilibrium.
Great movie. I didn't know it was underrated. I loved when I saw it the all time travel day repeating with Tom Cruse. I see you had The Game 1997 as a choice now that is an underrated movie. it is a once of lifetime experience watching it for the first time you can not recreate the feeling the movie is awesome. you should see it. Plus the farm house scene/the sneaking in the building/the entire talk with the general/and backstory of j-squad which require many resets
also these aliens were the product of a starfish fusing with their comet fragment
Of course he got arrested, he tried to blackmail a superior officer.
