      Consider: " An enemy of the people" 1864; 100 years before The Great Escape he was the Norwegian scientist / doctor! He dropped a fortune into it but: he contracted for residual's for his family. " They" locked in the can for 12 years before they walked in the courtroom and his family " bought " for -10¢ on the dollar " their est. " Half the % " they " offered the value. Catch aCopy of the movie after you read the book 82 pages: BUT DON'T SEE THE " LIVE PLAY" SOME PHILANDERER IS DRAGING AROUND , IT'S DOGSHT.
      IF YOU SEE , "FORD VS FERRARI," YOU GOTTA SEE McQUEEN'S, " Le Mon".
      Then see the other 16 films, IN FULL: GOOD COPY?
      Can't wait to meet him again, soon. 50 was too early from asbestos ~ after the razor's edge he danced on?

    Just quick note; the two watches shown were the same model (the sub). The model known as the steve mcqueen (explorer II mentioned) was never actually worn by him but in passing he mentioned he liked it. As of today no one has found evidence saying he owned one. Awesome video I love how you reference specific pieces as well as giving his broad style sense!

    I love Steve McQueen's style, he really is one of the kings of cool. He is one of the reasons why I like the Harrington jacket, I have my heart set on the Baracuta Harrington I want to get the version that doesn't have the elasticated waistband. I think the G4, a bit like the James Bond jacket in Quantum of Solace.

    The film Bullitt was stylish all round: clothes, sharp haircuts, cars, music and who can forget a very stylish Jacqueline Bissett.
    It was made at a time when hippies were flocking to San Francisco though in all viewings of it I never saw one.
    McQueen was the star, but he had superb support from Robert Vaughn and Simon Oakland, not to mention Bissett and bad guys Paul Genge and Bill Hickman.
    Also spot Georg Stanford Brown as a doctor, and Norman Fell too.
    A different age.

    McQueen was certainly no choir boy, but man, what an iconic guy. I knew about his tumultuous adult life, but I didn't know about the terribly traumatic upbringing that goes a long way in explaining that. I swear, men were just made of tougher stuff back then. We all look soft today by comparison.

    A few months ago I found a genuine navy blue Barracuta G9 Harrington with original Fraser tartan lining from the sixties in a second hand shop for 10 quid. Couldn't believe my luck since I'd been looking for one for years given that two of my biggest fashion icons are James Dean and McQueen. It's in perfect condition apart from a couple of small rips in the lining and I've worn it almost every day since...

    • @razor6552

    • @razor6552
      @razor6552 Год назад

      I have so many jackets, that I don't have room for another one, but a g9 bottle green with the Fraser tartan lining is the one I'd probably get. The corduroy one is the nicest IMHO, but cost as much as a good leather jacket from another brand.
      The g9s are beautiful and people say they last for many years.

    • @oliverholmes-gunning5372
      @oliverholmes-gunning5372 Год назад +1

      @@razor6552 hahaha yeah, I was pretty pleased with it. It's amazing what you can find in second hand shops if you search long enough and have a basic idea of what to look for. I've found some absolutely fantastic items over the years, silk ties, designer suits, premium quality shirts... and I doubt I've ever spent more than 30-40 quid on a single item. Even got a full morning suit (black tailcoat, grey waistcoat, salt and pepper trousers) from Moss Bros for £25 once. Probably my best ever buy though was a cashmere overcoat from Brook Taverner for £5, which I later found out retailed at over £1200 brand new.
      So yeah, I don't know what it's like elsewhere but if you're in the UK and you have a couple of days to spare it is absolutely 100% worth spending them in the charity shops (Cancer Research always seems to yield the best finds, followed by British Heart Foundation and Oxfam- no idea why, but it's been my experience over the years). You can get a whole new wardrobe at a tenth of the price or less (and of course the wealthier the area the better the yield, as a rule I would focus on the ones down South and especially around the posh parts of London- had a mate who used to go to a charity shop in the district that Eric Clapton lived in, he used to pick up Clapton's old jackets for like 50 quid, it was insane).

      £1200 coat for £5. Wow!
      Eric Clayton's jacket! Quite a find.
      I've never got a really amazing deal at a thrift shop. However I saw a Harris tweed for about 9 dollars, but it was too small.
      My best deal was a new $300 Nautica corduroy sports jacket marked down about four times. Then marked way down just before the retailer went out of business...14 dollars. My best clothing deal.

      @@mb8kr @Dakvayli Ken. While your statement is valid it can't be applied broad brush. A number of men don't need to have Steve McQueen as a role model, my sixty years experience in Corporate sales has taught me that many people lack the ability to visualise. For example the jackets that McQueen wore cover a range of styles that all men may not be familiar with.
      But seeing the illustrations used in this video, they may enjoy simply using McQueen as a starting point, which isn't the same as a Role Model. Phil.

    Steve McQueen as a black dude I totally see it. He would have approved.

    Dean Martin was also known as King of Cool though I don’t know if it had to do with his presence and attitude or his fashion sense. Still I’d like to see an analysis of Dean Martin’s sense of style. I hope you’ll explore that. Thank you.

      Dean was the coolest member of the Rat Pack. I used to have a picture of the Rat Pack standing outside near a Vegas sign on my desk at work for a few years.

    I love Raphael and Preston, but Kyle’s style is more down to Earth. I love all the men in Gentleman’s Gazette but Kyle is more like the everyday man, while looking good. 😀

    Great video, just a minor correction on the watches - Steve's classic watch was the Rolex Submariner 5512 (also a Bond Watch from the Roger Moore films) though the Explorer 2 has been nicknamed the "Steve McQueen" there is little evidence he actually wore one.

    Always idolised McQueen and his style, great video but I particularly love the image of him sailing in the shawl neck wearing what look like prisoners denims, foreshadowing of Papillon perhaps?

    It’s good to invest in getting the watches right for your video
