Don't get me started,...i always wondered where the crappy games on those 999999 in 1 carts came from....its like being limited to playing action 52 for life
You are, as always, the king of hot takes. Penguin Adventure is a pretty good game if you're in the right frame of mind for it. It was to Antarctic Adventure what Super Mario Bros was to the original Mario Bros... an evolution of the standard gameplay for a new generation of consoles. Cryptic, yes, but forward thinking all the same. (And quite pretty by MSX standards.)
I hold that burden with care :P Goonies and Penguin Adventure both had those secret areas, and I was really irritated when I found out you needed to hit them lol.
Thank you for making an MSX video. Unfortunately you have insulted my childhood. Penguin Adventure was my favourite game at the time and one of the best games on MSX 1. Nemesis was amazing at the time and plays better than the NES version. People make a big thing about scrolling but at the time you did not notice when playing At the time in England 1985 MSX was not popular. Most of the tape games were Spectrum ports. The Konami games were considered very good but cartridges were expensive. The games I remember as really bad were; A View to a Kill, Vestron, Brian Jacks Superstar Challenge and Eddie Kids Jump Challenge
Found your page a couple months ago and i love the content. Really hits the nostalgia button for me. Also, tried some games I've never tried before from watching your videos. Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you so much, that's very kind of you! I hope you continue to try the games I mention, even if they are bad, they are all cogwheels in the history of video gaming history :)
Yeah that's a great start, because both of those games are solid, MG2 in particular, was the starting point for all of the elements we would see in later MGS games!
Oh wow. Penguin adventure is easily top 5 msx games. I understand why you don't like the hole mechanic. But there is an item you can buy to help you with this. The game was amazing. But i guess opinion is different for everyone.
Nemesis 3 MSX has a Turbo-R mode that makes the scrolling look kinda nice. All three Nemesis games however have unofficial enhanced versions that make the scrolling notably better.
Wow! The MSX version of Gradius looks like an Atari game compared to the NES version! That jerky scrolling hurts to look at! (I'll take the NES Castlevania any time too!)
however, it plays way better. The whole Gradius/Nemesis/Salamander saga is amazing on MSX even with that scroll. They have the best playability, atmosphere, musics and all

Oh god so true lol.

I know nothing about MSX, but here’s a generic comment for the algorithm.
You're the real MVP Pharm
Hear, hear
If you are playing on an MSX2, look for the smooth scrolling patches for the Nemesis/Gradius games. :)
I REALLY want to get involved with the SCC sound, some of those games sound PHENOMENAL.

I'm sorry! At least you have those badass memories, and that's all that matters! I do prefer Antarctic Adventure on the Famicom.

Great work bro! Proud of the YT growth 👏! Can't wait for a top 10 overrated N64 list in the future 😂
It's in the works lol.
"an absolute piece of dog s***" - stop sugarcoating your opinions sir, lol. Nice video!
No promises ;)
First time I’ve heard a Rosanne singing the national anthem reference in a while lol
I hope it's the last, I never want to hear it again lmao.
The only MSX games I have are the metal gear ones that come with the ps5 collection, haven't played them yet though
Yeah that's a great start, because both of those games are solid, MG2 in particular, was the starting point for all of the elements we would see in later MGS games!
Good list! Some of these had boppin soundtracks tho
They do, shit, even Parodius has a bopping soundtrack lol
Ahh yes, I see. A man of culture.
Indeed!

I just have strong disdain for Konami's hidden pathings. Lol.
It wasn't hidden as the manual mentions it. But I guess you don't have the original game/manual.
@familiehermsen-ouwendijk3805 I did not have the manual lol.
Thanks!
Thanks man!

Oh really? Huh, might have to check them out.
Ahh, memories. No one game was the same and each was unique. now so many games try copy eachother like elden ring and dogma 2 etc
Yeppppp. That was the beauty of it.

Especially if you have that later era MSX sound chip. It's insane.
@@Fortefyre all of them have it except for the first Nemesis. This also includes Space Manbow.
The version of Nemesis on Konami Game Collection used the sound cartridge bundled with Snatcher for SCc sound
