Hello.. My Scala2 pump makes a loud crackle every time it starts. I open a tap or the shower, and the noise is there, waking babies or scaring guests. The pressure is set to the minimum, I tried up to level 4, but the crackle is the same for all levels.
hi, my scala 2 has a leaking from the bottom of the pump, where there are 2 holes covered with a mesh kinda metal piece. tried sourcing for local suppliers and the only thing they advise me is to replace the whole pump. is there a way for me to repair it myself? maybe change some seals or O rings?
@@tjm52071 did you guys find a solution? My first one leaked after a year so the plumber replaced it under warranty and told me if it happens again I am on my own. The second one is leaking after a year. The rebuild seal kit is $250. After reading your note, I'm wondering what you did.
Hi , I have redundant Scala2 pump in my house. one of them is showing indicator 5 on “ System overpressure” .. I followed the manual suggestion and lowered the pressure setting but still not working When turn of the faulty pump and turn on the other, The works fine. What are other possibilities for the issue?
After fixing it, the technician told me not to change the pressure by myself. that was strange to hear because the pump is obviously equipped to be able to set the correct pressure on demand and not call the provider and wait just to press a button!. He told me that different settings have different "regulators" that should be fixed and if I change it without having the right regulator this might damage the pump. I'm just asking is this all true?
Do you need a 2 gal. pressure tank with this unit? I see many install videos and none talk about a pressure tank needed like the "Little Giant 400" pressure boosting pump. Water hammering issues? Thanks.
Yeah I just recently installed one of the scala2’s where we removed an old pump and the grunfos pump just constantly runs any ideas? Could the bladder tank need to be aired up?
I also have a scala 2 pump. Works well. Here in the Southwest I have a evaporative cooler with a float valve to adjust water through he cooler pads. The scala 2 , because of the trickle float valve thinks there is a water leak in the system....!!!! Is there any way to disable or clear the unit so it doesn’t always think there is a leak?... thanks for the reply’s. RVW
These last about 2 years max now. Not sure what happened to Grundfos quality on these pumps. I have a new one, that when it hits cut off pressure, it tried to shut down, but then starts up again, and goes through this cycle continously, any help would be appreciated.
My unit does not goes off. Even though no foist is opened. I still don’t know why it is still running. Is there any thing I should know about. Or something causing it.
Hi my pump is giving hunting pressure....i.e the rpm is not stable....its pulsating....any idea why it's behaving like this....its my second scala 2 though in 3 years...the first one leaks after one and a half year.....lucky me it was under warranty
the leak light intermittently illuminates, no leak in the house or around the pump is present. The reset eliminates the warning light, but then it returns. How is this rectified?
will this pump work with a circulation pump that keeps the hot water circulating through your home? Or will it stop working because it thinks you have a leak somewhere in the system?
Hey, We mainly use this pump for rainwater in the toilet. When flushing, we hear the pump working very erratically as if something is stuck. After about five stutters, it always runs perfectly. Do you have any idea what that could be? Everything is perfectly clean in the rainwater tank and at the inlet.
Hello Mark, this pump can support up to 8 taps and has a maximum system pressure of 145 psi/10 bar. If you would like to know more detailed information be sure to check the video at 2:00.
Hi, our newly installed escala2 keeps on running. The rese water pressure indicator is already on. What does it mean and how are we gonna do to fix it. Thanks
Don't know if you fixed it yet but low pressure in the pressure tank will do this. The air pressure in the tank is supposed to be filled to 70% of the working pressure you choose. I had that problem and it fixed it.
I was told from the guy on the phone, any pump with a year 2018 or 2019, " could ", have a casting flaw, its minor but it will cause the seals to not set perfect, and after 6 or 8 months they start leaking, 6 months later...leaking again. They just sent me a brand new pump, build year 2020. Its a real shame cause it was working flawlessly, perfect pressure.
Mine is about 2,5 years old. The Grundfoss eye is now blinking with a red light, without any other indication of what the error might be. Anyone has any experience with this?

I’m on my third pump in under three years. First pump started running really loud. Second started leaking from the bottom. Third has only been installed for one week.
Are you getting them warrantied by Grundfos or are you ending up having to purchase new ones? I'm having issues with mine and am trying to figure out if I should directly to Grundfos or to Power Equipment Direct where I purchased it.
Installed my replacement two months ago from the last broken scala2 and guess what…… leaking from the bottom. I really wanted to believe it was going to work without issues. PC is 1941 so that’s past the recall models
If you happen to know why I would have rust and a tiny bit of rusty water coming out of one of the two sides of the insect screen on the bottom of the unit please let me know
The manual for these codes is not have enough detail at all. Example: my SCALA2 is flashing two red lights twice, followed by a green, the two red again. It’s obviously a code, but the manual does not get into the flashing. It only states that the red light are an “alarm”... alarm for what? I can’t find a fault code list anywhere on the internet.

Im having to install a 2nd pump, In the instructions it fails to mention how much air to put into the small air bladder tank, kinda crucial not to even mention. Is it like my well bladder tank, where I set the pressure around 4 psi less then the pump cut off. Terrible instructions to say the least.
My 2 yr old scala2 cycles on and off every 15 sec +- . Pressure is good but uses a lot of electricity. Does anybody have the same issue? How did you fix it? Please.
I had that issue and was the pressure tank. It needs to have 75% of your working pressure in it. We had to change the needle valve (it's called something else starts with an S) and after doing so were able to get it functioning very well. It's the air valve at the top and you need a pressure gauge. It was hard to gauge so we just put air in it and it worked fine. Before that it ran almost all the time and was absolute power burn.
Sometimes pump will run or cycle after tap is turned off. It happens a couple times a day. So pump runs while there is demand as soon as the tap is turned off the pump will stop then 5 or 19 seconds later the pump will turn back on for 5sec or so. No alarms
So in the buttons area you show that the red lights mean the pump has stopped. No kidding. I know that. What is the cause is what I want to know so I can get it fixed. This pump is 3 years old but only ran for about 6 months. I've just been to busy to mess with it. I'm retired now and want to get it going.
it promises more than it does. This pump is not able to provide more than 2.5 bar from a well. And sometimes gives up, looses pressure, and then starts again by itself to full pressure again. Can only be used as a booster, not as a standalone well pump.
I have the same thing, though from a cistern right under the pump. When I re-read the pamphlet I noticed in "fine print", "if pumping from well or tank it can only do a certain pressure and if positioned for more pressure it will back it down to what it can do. Mine works well after some tweaking but has now developed a leak and trying to find out how to get the repair kit. I did buy it via Pex Universe and they are telling me they can't get parts. That is not making me happy.
My pump has worked fine (with a few exceptions - hose issues) for three years and five months. Now I am not getting it to power up, i.e. no lights at all. I have checked the electrical connections and they work. Any ideas? Have email in to Grundfos and hopefully will hear something back on Monday when I will also call. I am seeing a lot of complaints that these pumps do not last that long. If I have a dead pump, does anyone have any recommendations for a pump with the same functionality. I have had two Grundfos MQ 3-45 pumps over the last 30 years - my understanding is that they are discontinued. I am using this to pump water from a catchment tank to our home - about a 10-15 foot elevation.

If a pump is leaking, that usually means that there is an issue with the seals.

what does it mean when the green pressure level light is blinking ? and why is the pump pulsing while pumping water ( ok when setting pressure)
you might have to troubleshoot your pump from the looks of it.
Can water still run through pump on a power failure
