"The World is not here to make you happy, it's here to awaken you. And it does this by challenging you". So it is! Absolutely! One day I realized that life is not given to one for pleasure, but in order to teach him. And it would be a serious mistake to think otherwise, because it leads one to а permanent expectation of happiness and to endless suffering thereby.
@@kotred3097 The world isn't here to make anyone happy, nor is it here to awaken anyone. It is simply here, and to assume it is here to do anything with regard to us is incredibly self centered nonsense. We are simply part of the massive web of life, and we shouldn't give in to the easy path to self deceit, which is simply picking some guru "wisdom" to believe in that is nothing more than an assertion or theory masquerading as a "higher truth" from someone with charisma or a gift for oration, with no data to back it up, to believe or not for our own purposes. Reality is all that matters, not our silly theories about it being here to have some impact on ourselves, as if we were the most important specks of life in the universe.

Oh, how I wish that I had found this man many years ago. I'm 71 and have been listening to Eckhart's words for over 30 years. "The Power of Now" is the most life changing book I have ever read. Please, if you haven't read it, pick it up. I refer to his teachings as "blue collar Buddhism".....this man is certainly one of the most valuable teachers on the planet....Namaste
This is exactly what every school should teach from childhood. There should at least be a class "The power of now" in which they should show Tolle's teachings. This would save so many lives, and bring a transformation to the world. Instead, they teach kids to be overthinking and memorising like parrots. They don't even teach basic survival skills, let alone spiritual teachings. Thank you Echkart for teaching us through your videos, books and retreats, I will certainly show them to my kids, and I believe as parents this is our responsibility!
i had replied to you that it’s the parents job to teach their own children, but i had to delete that comment because you said it yourself. there should be a lot more people on this earth like you Maia. life would be so much easier, and earth would be a beautiful place to live on. i thank eckhart for teaching us how to live in our own minds so we can tolerate the world. VitaminC Dokaz it doesn’t matter where you live; where you live represents only the outer reality of life, or more correctly, the illusion or delusion (as Einstein called it) of life and when you’re present everywhere is wonderful, no matter where you are or what’s happening, even if somebody has a gun to your head, you can still enjoy what might be your last moments here on this planet in this current time space reality. It’s all about being present and enjoying the gift of life and until then, people are simply a victim of their circumstances which are forever changing, so sometimes they will be judged to be good and other time’s bad but when you become present, every moment is truly wonderful 🥰

Mr Phillips I agree. Instructing people in inquiry and self-awareness is usually only as effective as the time spent with that person, and the order in which these ideas are introduced. Getting past a typical ego, within an extremely “identified” can be almost surgical, and I think often about the people who have entertained these ideas at various times in their lives, but say it is “crazy” or maybe just confusing. For me, it took multiple teachers and several months of listening until one day “I” disappeared. After three days, the ego resurfaced, but that’s ok because I remember that time and how I felt, and I can often get back to that. Thanks for your thoughtful comment.
He's actually not saying anything new that hasn't been said before. Alas, people need constant repetition to remind them of what is important. I'm grateful for his patience.
I agree with you. Thats why i sometimes reread books, to remind myself. Like the saying goes "there's nothing new under the sun" i love how he explains things
Truth is timeless. Everyone hears it when they need to hear it. You are patient only if you have impatience. I dont feel Eckhart lives in impatience because in the NOW everything is always fresh. ;)
I suddenly saw what children do: they always play in the now. And then, at the same time, my thoughts took me to what Jesus said: "Be like children", meaning: live in the moment, live with what is, live in the now. I finally think I know what he meant. Live in the now, be in the now. Thank you Eckhart!
This whole situation of quarantine has showed us that it is important to be self aware and become more spiritually sound. Its all about treating every human being in a right and equal way and be kind to others and more loving and don't forget that this world is just temporary so we should treasure our moments here and be happy and more content.
I dont think, that this reality is temporary. Timeline is just mind creations. This reality is eternal like consciousness, because all is consciousness. Between physically and spirituality isnt difference, just mind a ideas creates this seperation.

Sure? Does this apply to people, children in Syria etc? Or are we talking only about us spoiled Europeans? In case of the latter, this might apply to some extent. But in 90% of people's destinies nowadays in my opinion it does not.
VitaminC Dokaz Thank you for asking this question. It truly humbled and saddened me. I suspect the truth is still there but who is ( or would be ) super human enough to ‘ realize ‘ it in the face of such horrendous suffering ? I doubt that I would be able to. I live a western life in the US and while meditation ( philosophy and practice ) have truly changed my life for the better - much much better - my little ‘ first world problems ‘ are so petty in comparison to the suffering in Syria, that I feel like a fool. Even Jesus Christ, whom I believe was both God and Gods’ Son - who knew the truth of everything - felt emotional pain when he suffered. Perhaps Eckhart will reply to your comment. I suspect if Eckhart replied he would say that it is the suffering that brakes the persons’ false view of the world - so that any human physical or emotional control has been so overwhelmed and that it has clearly failed completely. Then in that state the suffer maybe free to realize ‘ the truth(s) ‘ that Eckhart and others have discovered.
@@carpenterfamily6198 Thanks for these warm words, carpenter family... You know, I would REALLY like Eckhart to reply to this and similar questions. But not superficially like he sometimes does when asked such things... I think that just like us in "better circumstances" the primary thing these people need is not finances, but also understanding and empathy. I completely understand what you all mean when you highlight his sentences. He also changed my life to some degree. But then, after watching scenes with starving children in ruins in Syria with makeshift masks on their little faces, suddenly everything I had "achieved" by working on myself came tumbling down like a house of cards. And I thought: "The power of now"... Not for them... Not think about the future (in which maybe they see the only light) isn't the answer for all of us. And I would really, really be the happiest person in this world if I saw that somebody like ET started having empathy for those people too... Generalizing all human sufferings while laughing at them is not a solution... Stay safe, Carpenter Family, and thanks for sharing.

you got it right nina
"The World is not here to make you happy, it's here to awaken you. And it does this by challenging you".
So it is! Absolutely! One day I realized that life is not given to one for pleasure, but in order to teach him. And it would be a serious mistake to think otherwise, because it leads one to а permanent expectation of happiness and to endless suffering thereby.
I love you
@@kotred3097 The world isn't here to make anyone happy, nor is it here to awaken anyone.

YEP.....that is a good way to feel better and better.......for you, me and every one !! ^_ ^
Maia exactly. What a difference it would make.

Thoughts are just thoughts. You notice them and let them go. No reaction is needed. Then it's possible to truely live this moment, stay present and fall in love with the Life forever❤️
"There's an enormous power hiding in the Now." Eckart Tolle 💙
"Let go of the narrative and just be present with this moment as it is... this moment is all there ever is, your entire life unfolds in and as this moment... it's always now."
What's your point?
I think the point here is,
to live in the Now.
Don't think what you have done wrong in the past, don't think what you will do better in the future.
Live in the present moment.
We can't change the past.
We can't change the future.
We only can change the now
When we exist, when we live in the right NOW.
I wrote this words in my now but you will read it later in your own now.
You understand what I mean?
Or I AM confusing you right Now?
I can't imagine a more appropriate time to get in touch with our true selves. Thank you
To Awaken is to take the grace of labors in love and creating a culture of Depth
Profound truth " the world is not for your happeness, its reality is for your awakening"
Thank you Eckhart. So powerful... thank you for being our teacher...
Great master, great treasure of mine. Thank you, once again.
I keep reminding myself I'm a spiritual being experiencing a physical existence.
I look at my experience of life on earth and marvel at my physical existence. Sometimes I feel like a newborn baby might feel.
I look around and say "Is it just me?" :)
I appreciate Eckhart for standing up and being a leader at a time to adversity 💜
So he is! Absolutely!
Love him and his teachings
