  • Released in March 1973 "Pinball Wizard/See Me Feel Me" reached #16 in the UK. This single was a medley of two songs taken from The Who's rock opera Tommy and employed a harder-edged sound for the group with heavy use of electric guitars and sung in a rockier style. The Who's Pete Townshend congratulated the group on their version of the song.

But it was the harmony on See Me Feel Me when Lyn joins Peter that was always the highlight for me and the look she gives him here is worth a thousand words. God rest him and continued blessings on Lyn - lets hope its not too long before her next album - check out 'Late Night' if you haven't done so and one day we might get a recording of her as Mrs Johnson in Blood Brothers!

I came here as 'Pick of the Pops' recently featured a 1969 chart countdown and the Who's 'Pinball Wizard' was played by Gary Davies. I thought this version was actually better, like a number of people who have already commented. Unfortunately we don't often hear chart rundowns from 1973 on 'Pick of the Pops' so people these days have probably never heard this version. Great video. I recall first seeing it on 'Top of the Pops' and thinking what a departure it was from previous New Seekers singles.

Just listened to Tommy after a 4 decade hiatus which prompted me to play this version again.... The Who's version is fabulous but this version is pretty damn good too...

How many hundreds of hours of practice is encapsulated in this three and a bit minutes! Just look at that little duet from 1:42 by Peter Doyle and Lyn Paul - the look of love! Thank you for posting this great video by a great group - this would have to be one of the great music videos, what a difference from the "stand and deliver" type from the 60's. Brilliant example of the NS. They were touring in America at the time and didn't promote in the UK, and this video was never released. Peter Townsend from the Who congratulated them on their version . Also when the charts came out, on a Tuesday, initially it was reported at being number 14, but only for a short time. This band (manufactured or not) were made up of quality singers, the male lead singer should have been in a folk rock group (check out Boom Town, B side of I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing) and the two girls were like an English Abba (ok maybe not quite before I am pelted with insults) but they sure can sing!

Great track, great video - TNS at the absolute top of their game. The B side to the single of this was completely different but beautifully performed throwaway number called 'Time Limit' by a certain Mr Kristian, with a simple but effective little guitar solo that I've always loved. My hearing is gone now, so watching these video tracks brings the music to life for me, images to match the music in my head. Does anyone know if Time Limit (and also Mystic Queen, another personal favourite, also with great guitar) exist on video at all? I'd give anything to see either.

Had no idea this existed. Kinda like Abba but i think there is five of them. One girl has a Dolly Parton voice but groovy. Man I just want to have a Coke and teach the World to Sing ... Has it all. Let's unplug and bring good stuff back. I wanna go to the arcade and play air hockey until my knuckles bleed again. I will take on anyone. :) Then we coul dgo for "fries" (whole other story) and go tobaggoning (sp?) with our wine skins and make a big fire in the snow and all lean all over each other in our Parkas with some loner ice fishing somewhere and likely gets a "soaker" and then a gril goes up to him and takes his socks off and helps him. Next thing you know someone is pregnant but that could be worse but things work differently in the land of the North and we make it all work out eventually. Back to the song. Yeah, love the well worn machines and interesting that the girl looks to the guy with the whole "feel me" because when I go see Tommy like 10x in a row at the movies back to back each night I was never quite the same because this song touched me so deep. Deep enough that my now long time big brother who also loved this song but had a heart condition played it (piano) and I would sing and even though he had a heart condition, he was still my brother so I cut him no slack and so we would try to kill each other. I sort of broke his leg in three places once a bit but the the sibling rivalry stopped at the piano with this song and he is gone now over 30 years and I would give anything to hear him pound this out and have him pound on me next. My son hears me play this all the time esp the intro riff and I hope he picks it up. Geez one of you kids do a remix or fusion of this with something or whatever youkids do but save the music before we older cats are gone. Please save the planet and the music (arts). Thanks for listening (reading):
