Mike also another tip, as I did work in the AC industry for a bit. Just as an example if you have a digital readout of your AC temp and the lowest is 60, put it on like 63 or 64 to prevent the dryer from freezing, and use the recirculation button every now and then, for colder air. The system works with less stress if you recirculate the air already inside the cab. Also after a while if you have 3 to 4 selector settings for the fan, the lower the colder. Especially for a moving car.
I kept shouting at the screen for you to clean the condenser coil. You finally heard me toward the end. I feel much better now because I'm a retired a/c tech.
You never cease to amaze me DP! You’re so talented in many ways. Tons of knowledge & willing to share it. That’s just awesome & entertaining. Thanks for making my Saturday night by watching old videos!
Yeah, you're right! I just love when he REALLY gets into something. It's like, JUST STAND BACK cuz he ain't leaving a stone unturned AND with CLEAR & PRECISE details of what he's doing and WHY! You know, it's one thing to build a great RUclips channel but this guy turns it into an "Online University"!!
You are much more gracious and forgiving with the seller than I would be. The truth is they are crooked liars. When a used equipment seller states “We ran it through our service department” everyone assumes they mean they have found and fixed the obvious flaws. Hopefully your experience will persuade others to steer clear of them.
DP you showed quite an efficient service tech mentality. NICE JOB...... Using the part no.s isn't always foolproof but it helps. Your patience is commendable.
You know, MIKE, anyone can spend more money and buy everything DONE (or go to a reputable DEALER) but watching & sharing with you and hoping and redoing is SO motivational for US and I could hear in your voice the COLD AIR on your FACE when you say down & felt it! You 'coined' the phrase, "A winner never quits and a Quitter NEVER Wins"! That's YOU! Congrats!
Thanks for reminding me why I haven't messed with an a/c system since about 1988. I love having a/c, but HATE working on them, because I get that same thing, what starts with a slow leak ends up replacing most, if not all of the major parts!
Not sure if it was military or not, but whoever ran it in the coal environment put that external air filter on the AC unit....then apparently didn't keep it maintained, based on how bad that unit is packed with coal dust. That can be a problem as coal dust mixed with water is acidic. You can see evidence of that in all the JD yellow areas that weren't painted, and around that filter inlet fitting they installed that are all corroded and the paint lifted. IMO, I would try to steam clean out every nook and cranny of that machine, under every cover, etc... to get all of that out of there, especially inside of the cab. You do NOT want to be breathing coal dust that is blowing around via the ventilation system. All that said, looking forward to seeing Sgt. Slaughter bringing the violence to some dirt once it gets back from C&C.
Many times at many military bases & installations, CIVILIANS are hired to perform work with equipment such as this. I would say this machine had a decent life based on how it runs and what DP checked out prior to purchase. PLUS, if solely military the thing would have been subjected to INSPECTION and much of the poor maintenance caught and not allowed. DP did WELL for himself!
I thought you released your Freon to the atmosphere when you opened it up ( and wouldn’t get a Christmas card from Al Gore) but then remembered it all leaked out already at the evaporator manifold. Great work!
Nice job I don’t know how you do it you were lied to about the condition of the dozer. and there you are Big smiles. You are a great guy Keep the videos coming
Your diligence reminds me of my earlier years, although I was mainly involved in woodworking. I enjoy watching your videos. It reminds me of my younger years.
Great job on the AC repairs. I too do all of my AC work and it saves a boat load of money doing it yourself. I used to wrench for a living in my 20’s and do all my work myself - now 61 years old.
Yep I'm excited too!!!!!!!!! What a marathon to resolve the A/C and all the associated problems. Just re-inforces your original comments of the dealer puttting it "through the shop" (I don't think!!) I am always amazed at your comprehensive knowledge and ability to overcome the various problems that arise on this and many other of your maintenance videos. Really well done you. What satisfaction this task must have given you!! Think you deserve a long cool beer after that episode. Cheers from Scotland. Stay safe and welol.
You have so much patience. I had a devil of a time figuring out I had a bad battery that was killing the other battery and when I finally got it solved, I got in my car and it was DEAD!! You probably heard me scream all the way from Texas.
At least you had a comfortable spot to work on it. That stand was perfect. You got it cleaned up pretty good and MBTS was there in the end for you, as always!!👍🇺🇸
I know this much about ac work. Im a residential repair man for ac and if your coil inside is that dirty its a very good chance your compressor may have issues from overheating it. Obviously that poor machine was not ever properly maintained and by looking at the ac system it has been in the desert atleast half of its life
Man of many talents master of some Mike, good thing you have a never ending supply of those T-shirts you wear otherwise you would never be clean. Hope you have a separate washing machine for them, I thought you were designing a new look while water blasting the radiator.
Good Job Sir. You patience, logic, and determination got you to the end game, AC fixed. Now we know a little about other challenges coming but take the win for now.
Good video I cannot believe I miss all of this good stuff good job fixing they air conditioner that was A good idea about cutting the houses to make it easier it pays off you will be cool now do you thank Jerry will use it be safe see I told you I will get back commenting I hope you’re ready for the long ones again. be saf
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and adventures fixing the new dozer. That first night I was expecting to hear the buzz of little flying vampires. Glad for your sake that doesn’t seem to be a issue. Looking forward to seeing more repair and operating videos. Wishing you and your family the best.
I took a quick look to try and see any other military dozers with something on top of the A/C unit with no luck (yet). I did see a bunch of C&C videos and during the walk around he opens the engine access door. A couple of them look like the filter housing would fit the original filter you bought so there might be a mid year upgrade or severe duty option that included a larger air filter. My old Acura CSX was a 2006 but the engine and cabin air filters were 2007 spec parts because of the timing it was made and the early change over of some components on line during production.
Well they say if you want something done right, guess what you got to do yourself. Nice job on the fix on the green mean machine. nice item for the working fleet, good luck with it down the road.
On my 850k that is just a red dot system but they moved the heater core under the seat so the a/c comes down from the roof and the heat comes up from the bottom. Simple engineering and I love it. The a/c is so cold I only run the fan motor on the lowest setting and the temperature is almost completely out of the blue and in the red, that ole girl still dogs the windows lol
I have faith in you I knew you'd get it fixed now it's dirt perfect you didn't know what you was getting into but now you do now but way2go you got her fixed hope you have a good day my friend don't work too hard can wait till the next video God bless🙏
got. all that crap out of the air intake, probable another four or five horsepower to play with. poor girl was breathing at 60%. now she gets 100%. ought to push like a beast now.
Walking in tall cotton with me on this fix. I never dreamed that they came apart that eh hm... easy as in little to lots of nuts , bolts , and some fine work and its a runner. I just never got into the refrigeration portion of things in my day as I don't remember seeing even a place for it one the rigs... washington and alaska being my states of mechanicing, and even owning big rigs in the late eighties never had air on them... it would of been welcome though. Nice work Mike.
Awesome job and video, nothing like fixing something someone's already fixed weather right or wrong. But now that it's you gotta fix right , not only so it lasts longer but so it's easier the next time around. Like the splice on the hoses. Hopefully the next failure is something different and not something you did wrong. Pays to do right. Love the video and can't wait to see her in action. Jerry is going to love the A/C and closed cab.
You sure are creative. Thats real impresive getting all those different parts to make a pressure washer. Now l'll giive you another challenge and that is to make it so it has hot water and steam. LOL
Nice unit , I hope it works out for ya buddy. Jerry will enjoy that cab after he feels that cold air flowing and doors closed works even better. 💪🏼👍🏻👍🏻
Glad that worked out and hopefully C and C will get the other bugs worked out like you explained on the live session last night. Sounds like they are trying to right their wrong. Kudos to them. Stay safe bud.
Nice mike.! A tool to pick up if you don't have one is called a fin comb ! ( it's used to open up the fins on your evap and can be used on your rad as well!). Glad it all worked out for you
That is insane what came out of there. I know you asked not to come down on C&C, However, Customer service is everything, and that's where they lack the most.
Mike also another tip, as I did work in the AC industry for a bit. I was thinking replace heater core while it was apart. My luck this winter I would be putting heater core in it and lose my freon.
You never cease to amaze me DP! You’re so talented in many ways. Tons of knowledge & willing to share it. That’s just awesome & entertaining. Thanks for making my Saturday night by watching old videos!
Thanks
Clearly one of your best !..watched it twice
thanks!

Pulling stuff apart is easy, but putting it back the right way is something else.
Top job Mike, big fat thumbs up!
Now Dirt Perfect is also Mr. Cool. Good video of a tough job. Glad it worked.
You worked so hard , you love a challenge and you won.👍
Nice choice on the time lapse music. Made me want to watch a Buster Keaton movie. I hope all the bugs are worked. That now it's smooth sailing.
I like your selection of slugging wrenches
I think you had a lot of fun with that re-construct.
You are much more gracious and forgiving with the seller than I would be.
The truth is they are crooked liars.
When a used equipment seller states “We ran it through our service department” everyone assumes they mean they have found and fixed the obvious flaws.

Stay tuned
That evaporator is massive for such as small cab!
DP you showed quite an efficient service tech mentality. NICE JOB......
Using the part no.s isn't always foolproof but it helps. Your patience is commendable.
I thought so as well
It is, no doubt. I'd bet it would have cost $2500-3000 in a John Deere shop. Good job Mike!
@@mikeramsay7682 had a identical issue. Deere dealer charged our company just under $8k total for the job.

Great job Mike..... now I need you to head down to Chris in North Carolina to help him get his DEF problem fixed...lol
Glad you got it all working, you said last nite that some at the dealer were fired for good cause!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't wait to see it on the job.
My hat (my favorite cowboy hat-s) is off to you on your attention to maintenance~~~~!!!!!!!!
And everybodies happy and blessed!
You are smart and can fix stuff.
I admire your confidence in trouble shooting things you're not too familiar with. Good Job.(as usual).
Now go buy your family a nice camping trailer with Air Conditioning . 👌
Nice and cold AC. It’s a good thing.
Yoeman's work Michael ! You GOT-ER-DONE !
Thanks for the great video Mike!
Thanks buddy
Cool job mr DP

Good morning DP. Nice to see the upgrade
Thanks
@@DirtPerfect welcome. Looks a bit more than u thought. Am at the spot of those missing washers 😅😅
Worth all your effort Mike !!
