- In this video I review the Vortex Fury HD 5000 rangefinding binoculars. I picked these up for long range shooting, hunting and general hiking use. Like most rangefinders, the advertised range is only reached under optimum conditions. The Fury HD 5000s go give you a useful range beyond what the majority of shooters and hunters will be able to use.
After filming and publishing this video I was using the Fury at a match with heavy fog and noticed that I was getting frequent measurements of only 20 yards due to the fog. I was able to see targets out to about 300-400 yards, but I wasn't able to get a measurement passed 20-30 yards.

Very informative and straight to the point. This has helped me make my decision on a range-finding binoculars. Well done!
Thanks for watching! I’m glad it helped.
Nicely done. Informative presentation from an informed presenter!
Thanks for watching!
Your video was very informative on a common person level and is most appreciated. Its a big decision to drop 1-3k on binos, thanks for the video. I agree that the Vortex are a pretty good buy given what your getting and not getting for another 2k.
I'm glad it helped, thanks for watching!
What are your thoughts on the Vortex Fury HD 5000 Rangefinding Binoculars? Is there something else you prefer?
Awesome vid! I just picked up one of these, so far I’m digging them. where did you get that tripod from? It might pick one up after seeing your video.
I bought it many years ago for photography. Most decent quality aluminum or carbon fiber tripods will work just fine.
Hi, about binoculars and about the quality of the lenses, at what level does it stand in the scale of vortex binoculars? Diamondback? Viper? More or less? Thanks a lot
They are about the same level of glass as the Viper.
These are awesome binos.
They are great. I wouldn’t mind trying out the Applied Ballistics version.
@@AdventureColorado While testing these I was able to range a pickup towing a fifth wheel camper moving on a highway 4,047 yards away! They certainly give me great readings for varmint shooting out past 1000 yards with no problem which is what I wanted them for. My Kestrel has the AB software.
@@hbudsmalley6317 that’s really impressive! I’ll have to look for a large reflective target to push the range! The AB software is great, especially in the Kestrel.
So, one of the things I’m into, is higher end airgun hunting… is the aiming point precise enough to range small animals at, say, 100-200 yds?
I'm not sure what the exact size or angular measurement of the laser is, but I believe it would be fairly accurate for small animals out to 100 yards for sure, by 200 you might need to range a nearby tree or larger object. You can set it to range the first or last object to range an animal in front of brush or tree limbs (first), or to range an animal behind brush or limbs (last).
They are 5000 yard capable. 2500 for non reflective and 5000 for reflected objects. It has been proven already. These are beautiful
Most companies rate based on reflective targets. I was still impressed with real readings at distances beyond what the average shooter will use. That's the real test of a rangefinder, how does it perform in actual field conditions? Thanks for watching!
saludos tiene menu e instrucciones en español....?
No, lo siento.
what is the minimum range it will pick up?
1 yard is the closest it is rated for and I just checked it indoors and can get a reading down to .9 yard.
What's the temperature there?...looks cold with snow on the groumd and you are in a short sleeve shirt...is that a green screen behind you?...where is this gorgeous land that you made this video in?
Colorado in the spring. Near the mountain town of Bailey.
@@AdventureColorado Freakin gorgeous!
Which side is the rangefinder in the right eye or left
The right eye
dang thats what I was going to ask. figured I would check the comments first. is it still usable for left eye dominant people. or is it a bit difficult because its in the right eyepiece of the binos
Has anyone done an accuracy ranging on these binos
I have not seen any independent, thorough comparisons of the accuracy of these compared to other brands. The Precision Rifle Blog did a very thorough comparison of range finders a few years ago, but that was before Vortex released the Fury.
I cannot tell you about the Vortex Fury's as far as accuracy. But I have a set of Leica B2000's, and the Sigs. I've ranged the same targets out to about a thou with both. There was literally only a yard difference even out to almost a thou! With today's technology most anything you buy that's a grand or more will be more accurate than you can shoot into a "danger zone". I won't explain what that is. That's beyond the scope of this comment and review.
@@nicholas1740 It's good to hear your experience with the accuracy of those optics. I know that Precision Rifle Blog did a comparison of a few range finders a few years ago and he did find some issues, that's an interesting read, but doesn't include some of the more recent options available.
Do they have link?
They are in stock at Brownells:

And Sportsman’s Warehouse:

Do you mean, ‘do they link?’ No they don’t.
Incline?
Yes, it measures incline and will either give you the incline in degrees or give you the equivalent horizontal distance.
To much money, crazy price 1500.00 Canadian dollars cabelas lol
