Mingyu's accent is "fast"
So true 🤣
Mingyu has a little lisp as well making this Korean sound like a roller coaster 🎢
@@avyalie He's so many things that I love in a person.
And lisp
Jeonghans accent is Shingi bangi poong poong bangi-ish yk..
Ah, is that why Dino's speaking is so nice to listen to...? Because the dialect he usually uses at home's more melodious?
Yeah, he sounds more melodius even when he's speaking standard Korean ☺️
DK’s accent was so strong even his sneeze was not saved from ending with 유 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ he's the only person who sneezes in dialect in the entire country 🤣
@@ikoreanu DK the trendsetter 😎
i can lowkey tell that wonwoo actually has a strong accent in they way he talks
like his tone and the way he pronunces the word is different and we see some cases where his "satori"? comes out (eg idol room)
Wonwoo's accent, that we mostly hear, is somewhere between standard and Gyeongsang accent. It is not strong as when he talks in his accent all the way, but people can still tell he's from Gyeongsang province ☺️
i love dino's jeolla dialect, when he really gets into it he starts sounding like an old man lol. it reminds me of the german dialect swabian which i'm really used to. i think if dino could speak german, he'd fit right in
Wow, that sounds so interesting!! I should check out Swabian 😆
as a kpop fan and linguistics nerd this video is amazing!! it truly helps international fans (like myself) to better understand the nuances of our favourite artist’s voice which unless you speak the language fluently is very hard to do. the way someone speaks is a big part of their identity and personality, i want to thank you so much for introducing that new part to us ✨
So glad to hear that you enjoyed it ☺️ I'm not as familiar with kpop groups, but who knows what the future holds? If the opportunity arises, I'd be open to exploring new content!!
@@ikoreanu Thank you so much , really.. I havent seen an youtuber who is so kind and sweet and replying to each comments with gratitude thanks for making this video ❤
I hope that eventually people stop being criticized for their dialect 😢 I love the flavor and variety it adds.
Can't agree more!! Dialects make things TASTY 🤭
I became more of a fan after listening to their dialect…..makes them look more human….better than doing aegyo all the time like some groups 😂
frrr i'm in love with busan dialect (day6 has 2 members)
I’m always interested in Satoori and since my ult bias is Wonwoo, I’d love to learn more about his Satoori. Aside from Going Seventeen’s clips, I tried to search more but I couldn’t identify whether Wonwoo is speaking with dialect or not. Thanks to this video, I may be able to find more (for example from In the Soop) 😆 and as always, thank you so muchieeeeeee Gagya!!!💖 you’re literally the best!
We mostly hear him talking in standard+Gyeongsang accent, but yes!!! I hope this video helps you catch the hints of Gyeongsang satoori whenever he talks ☺️ Thank you so much!!!!🤍🤍
I thought It's scoups and woozi are the one has strong accent. But from your explanation, it seems Wonwoo has the strongest intonation
I think Woozi switches between the standard and Gyeongsang accents flawlessly. And Scoups is more like, he's aware of when his accent comes out because he does a perfect standard accent when he talks in public. But Wonwoo, I can always sense a hint of Gyeongsang accent whenever he talks.
@@ikoreanu I see. Thank you so much for the explanation. 🤗
I always felt Wonwoo had the strongest intonation though
It's like, his dialect comes out quite often
I thought SCoups talks standard most of the time
But i thought Woozi had a dialect but apparently he doesn't as much 😅
Maybe Woozi's accent stands out to you because the gap between his standard accent and dialect is obvious!!
As someone that doesn't speak Korean, I always though scoups had an accent because sometimes the way he intonate words and ends his sentences sounds almost thai to me ahaha I don't how to explain it but it's like the vowels are more opened and stretched and sometimes nasal too compared to other members? At this point I think it might juts be him talking cutely ahahah
satoori was SO fascinating to me when i first started learning about korean language, i did a lot of deep dive research into it lmao. in addition to what you've said in the video, i'd like to add that Jeolla-do satoori is often described as "bouncy" and "lively" - jhope bts is a perfect example! even when he doesn't use satoori-specific words or particles, his intonation still shows that bounciness. Chungcheong satoori i've heard described as very slow and relaxed, to the point where there are jokes about how slowly they speak lmao. and i think we've all heard the stereotype about Gyeongsang satoori being tough and strong! world of dave did a great video with some friends from different regions showing the differences between them!
WOW!!!! This comment is just amazing 👏🏻👏🏻
In many GoSe eps I actually felt Wonwoo had an accent or used Satoori, this clarifies it a lot. Also not sure about Gangwon but I know Jeju has a very different Korean in general. I had seen a video where 5/6 guys from different district spoke in Satoori and no one could figure out Jeju satoori, they were legit like are you even talking in Korean ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Hence I am more curious about Jeju satoori hehe.
Btw since this is about dialects, I was curious about Mingyu. I know he doesn't have any dialect but from the start the way he spoke always seemed unique to me, but I'm not quite sure why... (I'm not Korean btw, I have just learned the language). Does he have a specific way of speaking or is he just speaking fast idk. I had read a twitter thread where SVT translators were talking about few specifics of the members where they did say that Mingyu and Jeonghan sometimes eat few syllables/words when they talk, and Mingyu more than Jeonghan tho I think, or something similar. So like what do you think? Is there something different Mingyu does when he speaks?
Hahaha yes!! So people from Jeju are natural "bilinguals" in a way 🤪 And Mingyu and Jeonghan do kinda eat syllables, but for different reasons. In my opinion, Mingyu is like, because he talks fast, syllables get mushed together. Plus, he speaks with a slight lisp, so I guess this is why his way of talking seems different from others. On the other hand, Jeonghan has very unique vocalization when he talks. Koreans describe his pronunciation as "웅냥냥" because he literally sounds like that 🤭 It doesn't sound clear, but super adorable!!
@@ikoreanu Waah 웅냥냥, learned a new thing. And wow yes what you mentioned makes so much sense now, also the differentiation! Thank you so soo much~ (Also sorry I always keep leaving big comments on your videos and asking doubts and questions. But thank you for always answering and explaining it all it detail!~ Thank you so much! You're so kind! And thanks for making amazing videos~
Noooo, don't be sorry!!!! I'm always excited to see your comments, and I'm more than happy to help you resolve your doubt 🙌🏻 You're always welcome 🤍
@@ikoreanu Thank You~~ 너무 착하시네요~
fun fact many linguists consider jeju satoori to be a distinct language from korean rather than a dialect, exactly because it's not mutually intelligible with korean (i.e. standard korean speakers cannot understand jeju satoori and vice versa)
i can only recognise the busan accent woozi uses in Bad Clue 2. thanks so much for this fun yet entertaining video.
Glad you enjoyed it! My pleasure ☺️
I would love more of this as Im super interested in accent as a none-native learning korean. However, instead of an example of different dialects I would love it if you did a break-down by member of how they speak and their dialects and how they are different.. (as a none-native, we would never be able to pick-out these things, unless very advance)
sort of like how you did with Wonwoo. Member by member, that would be so interested and fun
Thank you for your suggestion ☺️ I will consider it!!
I want more dialects!! It’s refreshing to hear them and helpful to have them be pointed out because I would have absolutely no idea otherwise. Thank you :)
You're welcome ☺️ Since they mainly use standard Korean, that was pretty much all the footage that dialects are used, but I'll look for if there's something else!!
My mom has chungcheong satoori and I could never quite put my finger on WHY it sounded different but now I know. Thank you Gagya!! 🤍🤍🤍
WOW!! I'm so glad I could give a tiny answer to your doubt. You're very welcome 🤍🤍🤍
Listening has always been my weakest area when learning other languages, so it's really rare for me to ever pick up on different dialects when someone is speaking. I wish I was better at it! Also, I love the little animations you use to illustrate your point those are super great
I'm 100% sure your listening will improve naturally with time ☺️ I'm so glad you like them!! Thanks a lot 🤍
Such a fun and creative way to teach this topic!! I love it! I was very engaged and learned a lot
Glad you enjoyed it ☺️ Thank you 🤍
2:42 hannies jyu got me crying bc its so
fkinh cute 😭
It's outrageously cute 😭
Omg what a fun channel! I have been learning Korean casually since 2020 but recently fell for Seventeen. This is perfect!
I'm so glad!! Thank you ☺️🙌🏻
this video truly made my day😆
Oh my!! I'm so happy to hear that 🤍
i really wish to be able to distinguish these kind of things on my own someday.. i'm currently at the beginning of the 4th level but some episodes of GOSE sound EXTRA advanced.. lol
thank you for your video!
You're welcome! You can do it 💪🏻
this is so interesting!! i don't understand korean nearly enough to be able to differentiate the dialects but hopefully i can get there someday!
It's great to hear that you find it interesting ☺️ Hope you reach that point in the future 🙌🏻
I would love to see you discuss Seungkwan as well since he's from Jejudo but I also don't know how much footage exists of him speaking like that since ik Jeju Satoori isn't just an accent from what I gather! Thank you for this vid tho, it was very cool!
I really wanted to discuss Jeju satoori too, but, so far, I could only find 1 clip in which he used it explicitly in GoSe (I explained it in ruclips.net/video/dyxx713nsaQ/видео.html - even the editors didn't notice that it was satoori haha). Anyway, glad you enjoyed it!
i personally like woozi satoori accent
Yeah, I really like it too ☺️
It's interesting that this topic came up right now because someone was just asking about this on the SVT subreddit. In your opinion, who would be the best member to learn pronunciation from?
Pronunciation-wise, I'd recommend DK!! I think he has one of the clearest pronunciations among all of them, and he speaks standard Korean (unless he does accents to spice up conversations 🤪)
do you have the link to the subreddit? am interested to read more on this about fans opinion
thank you sm for this video!!! this is such a cute way to learn
You're very welcome!! Glad you like it ☺️
i've always wanted svt videos like this as a carat who has been watching gose for a long time. this is so well-edited and compiled 😭 this is also why their content is so fun
Yesss, using dialect really spices up their content!! So glad to hear that you enjoyed this video ☺️
this is such a helpful video and so cool that you did it with them!
So glad it was helpful ☺️
i can't tell too much of a difference (yet at least) but it's really interesting to know!! and with my favorite group nonetheless. thanks for this!
You're very welcome ☺️
Hwaaa such a cutieee explanations. Thank you so muchhh❤❤❤❤❤❤
🤍🤍🤍🤗🤍🤍🤍
just wanted to say thank you for your videos! Am using this as a reference and in examples for my korean dialects presentation!! thank you so much!!!!
You're very welcome!! Glad it's helpful to you ☺️
Wow, thank you for this video! Although I don't learn Korean, but it sounds so fun to me, pronunciation and intonation are the best parts! And dialects spice those things up a lot. That was a very interesting video! :)
Wow, so glad you enjoyed it ☺️
Part 2 please ❤
Haha I put everything I know into this video, but when I get to know more things to discuss, then I will bring part 2 to you guys 😘
As a hobby language learner, this video was very interesting and helpful! I’ve always wondered about dialects in Korea but didn’t know much about them (though knowing of the standard one from k-media ofc). So thank you for making this video and pointing out the differences ^^
Glad it was helpful!! You're welcome ☺️
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 제주도는 차마 건드리지도 못하셨군요 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
하하하 딱 걸렸네요!! 직관적으로 설명해 낼 자신이 없었어요 🤣
Now this helps me understand a lot now especially when a idol is from busan daegu or juju island
Glad to hear that!
Woah suddenly I'm interested in learning korean dialects seriously🤓👀
Wow!! My video is just a quick guide, and you'll be able to find great videos on other channels (ex. World of Dave) 😉
@@ikoreanu you've actually got a great content idea to teach in a fun way like this 💫
Thanks a lot ☺️
I swear to god, I’ve been “studying” (not with books really, just by the “used to” method) Korean since 2018 and I could NEVER see the difference between the accents HELP (the video is amazing, the problem is my brain).
Distinguishing between different dialects in foreign languages can be challenging, so that's completely normal 😊
Im watching these without knowing to thier own native language so i still dont know what it is😂
❤
🤍
So is Gyeonsang dialect the dialect they use in Daegu? I know Coups is from Daegu and sometimes speaks in heavy Daegu satoori (similar to woozi in Bad Clue 2), so I'm wondering if its the same
Yes!! Gyeongsang dialect includes Daegu(Coups), Busan(Woozi), and Changwon(Wonwoo) satooris. But they are not the same because they put accents in different places. Well, non-Gyeongsang people could hardly tell the differences between them tho 🤭
@@ikoreanu That's informative! Thank you so much for the video
hi. i'm just curious. sometimes I can hear that Wonwoo always end his sentence with “-잉”. is that consider as dialect? and if so is that Changwon’s dialect? thank you in advance! ☺️
Hi there! To my knowledge, ending a sentence with "-잉" is Jeolla dialect. However, it's something so broadly used that it's not strictly limited to a particular dialect, and is commonly used in casual conversations. I think it's a habit rather than a dialect ☺️
@@ikoreanu thank you for the crystal clear explanation ☺️
You're very welcome 🙌🏻
can i ask, which members come from which provinces?
The place of birth may be different from what I wrote!!
Gyeongsang: Scoups(Daegu), Wonwoo(Changwon), Woozi(Busan)
Gyeonggi: Jeonghan(Hwaseong), Hoshi(Namyangju), DK(Yongin), Mingyu(Anyang), Vernon(Seoul)
Jeju: Seungkwan(Jeju)
Jeolla: Dino(Iksan)
ah they all sound similar to me 🥲🥲
Differentiating dialects of foreign languages can be challenging 🥲
omg girl is your real name Gaya? That's my name I've never heard someone else outside of my country with that name :O
It's Gagya 😉 It's a combination of the first two letters you learn in the Korean alphabet system hehe
Im really sad because even after trying to hear the dialects I still cant really hear them clearly T.T
It can be hard at first 🥺 You can do it someday!!
Wonwoo13k gyeongsang ao cute
It is!!☺️
Hi! Do you know that someone upload your video without any credits? I happened to find the channel on recommended and it's the same video I watched on here eventhough it's only on wonwoo's part. The channel called @JeonWonwoo
No way... That's really disheartening 🥲 Thank you so much for letting me know!!
Hwaaa such a cutieee explanations. Thank you so muchhh❤❤❤❤❤❤
You're very welcome ☺️ Glad you like it 🤍🤍
