I remember that. There was always a blank tape loaded in the stereo in case a favorite song played. Problem is those DJs kept talking when the songs started.
They are known as "One Hit Wonder" in the USA, but everywhere else they're "Every-Song-A-Hit-Wonder". 😁 In addition to various solo projects and live albums, they have released 11 studio albums, so calculate how many hits they had and I'm only talking about the singles they released out of the albums. They often didn't even released their best songs as single. On the other hand, almost every a-ha song is a masterpiece. Ah, the soundtrack of my childhood! My older sister was a big fan, and hearing this again takes me back to those sunny, happy childhood days, when I tried to get into her room where she kept her makeup, cool clothes, plastic earrings & tons of cool 80s pop music. Maaaaan. I still think this is a VIBE, Morten has an AMAZING voice, and all of their songs still sound good. Love this.
The lead singer, Morten Harket, is still an incredible vocalist. If you get a chance, check out A-ha's live acoustic, unplugged version of "Take On Me" from five years ago. So beautiful and haunting, a whole different take on the original.
My sister-in-Law is really into 'The Masked Singer' (UK Version) and my wife and I visited her one evening when it was on TV. The person performing as 'The Viking' came on and as soon as they started singing I said "That's Morton Harket", I recognise his voice and I was right. Apparently one week he even sang his one song 'Take on me' and they still never guessed that it was him. How can anyone not spot Morten Harket' voice it's so unique, and great.
The very first notes of this song instantly take me back to my youth, every time I hear it. Amber I'm glad you enjoyed one of my favorite parts of the song where it ramps back up. It is indeed cool as you said. I'm so happy you both enjoyed it!
My favorite song of theirs, lots of memories with this one, also back in the 80's we'd have radio stations doing their own remixes for the songs or use the official 12" and often would throw them onto the radio instead of hearing just the single version all the time, and this is one I remember mixes for a lot.
This one's already on my kitchen disco dance list, just go mental when I hear it. I love how the intro kicks in at the start and then the breaks of beat during the the song. A perfectly crafted pop tune. Nice choice guys. Cheers, Paul.😀📀👍❤️
I pretty agree that is their greatest song. Maybee. I cant agree myself if this song "Stay on these Roads" are the better. The latter is insane good, and Mortens voice is just insane good at "stay on these Roads" sounds like its a studio recording. But is not. Listen to his voice at the Nobel peace concert.
This reached No:1 on the UK charts in 1985, their only No:1 hit, however they scored a further 9 Top Ten hits here. "Cry Wolf", "You Are The One", "Hunting High And Low", and "The Living Daylights" (James Bond Theme Tune) are just a few to mention and would be worth a reaction at some point. 🤞❤️
And now in later years. Morten Harket (the vocalist), have been a judge in the Norwegian version of "The Voice". His niece was even participant, and he refrain from voting, since he recognized her, from her voice.
What a great sound A-ha produced. Morten's voice is a boomer. I think you would love "Hunting High and Low.' It's a beautiful love story, but the video clip is equally as beautiful and typifies A-ah and their innovation. "Stay On These Roads" is also lovely. Adore the live version from the 2015 Nobel Peace Price Concert the most! Morten's voice sounds remarkable live. And the musical depth created by the band with an orchestra is stunning!
My favorite group from Norway! A~ha still is my Jam today. The song was such a futuristic modern song for the 80s. I used to think what kind of music do they play in Europe This is incredible.
They were mostly a one hit wonder in the U.S. with 'Take On Me' but in Europe A-Ha had hit after hit, and their Greatest Hits album is one of those rare albums that hasn't got one dud in it, you don't want to skip anything when you play it.
This group def caught peoples attention with their fun creative vids. Mid 80s was blasting music to new heights. It was great to experience going from radio, 8-tracks, albums, etc. to Midnight Special and MTV. Sad they r all gone. Great to have reaction channels now to experience these amazing classics with u guys. Thanx so much, stay groovy, Peace
So so SO happy you guys reacted to this. One of my favorite songs of the 80’s. All they are remembered for is Take on Me but I always loved this song so much more. You can’t sit still when this song plays.
At the hight of their success this Norwegian Group did a James Bond theme. I took my two Daughters to see them at the Sheffield City Hall, UK. They were just little kids at the time and at the end of the show Morten Harknet, the Lead Singer gave them some flowers and some plectrums from his guitar, a real gentleman!
Great new wave synth pop band. Their best hit was "Take On Me'", which yall are familiar with, too. Lot of synth pop, new wave sounds futuristic, true. lol
It's a really stunning, beautiful and timeless song. I hear it on the radio at work at least five times a week fir years now and it never loses it freshness and beauty. I really love this song and especially the lyrics. Thanks for reacting to it. I also love your reaction videos. You guys are really cool and you both have a brilliant taste in music.
This is my favorite A-Ha song. They did a re-visited version of Take on me, very stripped down for MTV unplugged. It's slower but the instrumentation, and the vocals are haunting. Also I read another comment where Ren (artist name) was suggested for you. I would highly suggest you take a listen, not just to Hi Ren, which is his newer release and his biggest song so far, but to his work also with his band The Big Push. Also there's a trilogy of songs (the Jenny and Screech Trilogy with Violet's story in full) it's definitely an experience. Ren is indefinable as it pertains to genre because he crosses over so many in his music. Ren is definitely something extraordinary (especially lyrically, his story telling is un matched) to be experienced. I would think of him as a modern day Minstrel. There really is no other way to describe him... also bring your kleenex when you do check him out, you'll need it.
@@LiberalsArePoop It's big appeal is it speaks to mental illness and the inner struggle of the duality of man. It's just a conversation most people don't have. The reason it's going viral is entirely different. The artist Ren himself has gone through hell and back. He has spent most of his life sick. He was misdiagnosed for years. By the time they diagnosed his lime disease his body was so deteriorated. he had to go to specialists for stem cell treatments and all still he has all sorts of health (mental and physical) issues he still has to deal with in the aftermath even though he's doing much better now. Most of the music he's putting out now as a solo artist he wrote, recorded, mixed, mastered, and produced himself. As a musician he's extraordinary, and I'm not one to dole out the compliments. Check out his Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla, and Blind Eyed with Sam Tompkins. The styles of these other songs vary so very much from Hi Ren. I promise you. It'll give you a better overview of his talent before you write him off as an artist. Also he is in a band called Big Push which has a ska influence, but is just absolutely lovely in the way they cover some really good songs. I don't even mean the reggae songs they cover. They cover black sabbath, Bill Withers... I wouldn't write the guy off for the one song that jumps genres over and over to tell the tale of his struggles, without at least taking a look at a few other songs. I promise you it's well worth the listen.
Great song.I saw another reactor do Ren a couple of weeks ago i normally don't give new artists the time of day but this guy blew me away.I haven't been this excited about someone new since Ed Sheeran.
as electronic music goes this is one of my favorite songs in that genre. Similar electronic songs "Situation" by Yaz, "Boy" by Book of Love and "World in my Eyes" by Depeche Mode
Another great reaction, and brilliant to see you both getting into the music of my childhood! A-Ha are a band I liked in the 80s as a teen, but really grew to appreciate even more for their craft as I've got older. So many great 80s hits from their back catalogue that are worth checking out: "Cry Wolf", "Hunting High and Low", "The Living Daylights", "Stay On These Roads" and "Touchy!" come to mind...
4:00 ..the sun always shines on tv is like the unofficial sequel to take on me ...everyone prattles on about take on me but aha had many hits in Europe like hunting high and low, stay in these roads, touchy , train of thought , manhatten skyline and many other and were actually pretty massive
It blows me away that this is the first time you've heard this song. If I had to take a wild guess, I've probably played this song somewhere between 11,000 - 14,000 times. I bought this album new in 1985 and this is a top 10 song of mine. Morton Harket is a phenomenal singer.
Wow, I would call you a real dedicated fan 👍 I have always had a crush on Morten, and since I am Norwegian too, I have grown up with them and followed them and been to a lot or concerts in Norway especially, but also abroad. Btw I wonder why so many foreign people call him Morton and not Morten. I’ve seen that a lot. 😉
Definitely my favourite of theirs, was back then and still is now - the drama of it, sheer chills everywhere at certain points! Glad you both enjoyed it. :)
A-ha was considered a one-hit-wonder band in the US with Take On Me. It still gets played a lot on the classic stations. I do remember hearing this song, but I honestly think it's been since the 80's since I last heard it. Gosh, I miss the 80's. So much great music and fun.
Best reaction couple on youtube, so nice to see all the feelings you get off this song. I love A-HA + they are from the same country as me. Keep up the good work, you are the best.
A-Ha is one of my favorite bands ever. This band is out of Norway and while they only had a couple of hits in the United States, they are international phenomenons. "Take On Me", this song and "The Living DayLights" from the James Bond film were their most popular here. Morten Harket has an incredible voice and a sound that is unique unto themselves. This song is off of the album Hunting High & Low, along with "Take on Me". The video for "Take on Me" clearly was one that people were drawn to and remains one of the most iconic songs of all-time, but their music is excellent. Not all of it is hard driving like this one, or synth pop like "Take on Me". Their songs can be deep in reflection and often times slow, using Morten's voice as the primary. Nonetheless, they have some incredible music that you should dive deeper into. Check out - "I've Been Losing You", "Scoundrel Days", "The Living Daylights (James Bond soundtrack)", "Crying in the Rain", "Early Morning". As mentioned, many will not be known in this country but by true fans.
This Song & Video was a hit when it came out despite some people being confused about the Mannequins in the Church! Very artistic and the entire “Hunting High and Low” Album from where this Song came from is incredible.
I have loved this for years.
The whole "Hunting High & Low" album is a regular play for me, but i'm stuck in the 80's.

Ren is definitely something extraordinary (especially lyrically, his story telling is un matched) to be experienced. I would think of him as a modern day Minstrel. There really is no other way to describe him... also bring your kleenex when you do check him out, you'll need it.
I saw a reaction to Hi Ren. Interesting song, not sure that I really liked it though.
EASILY their best song! I still can't believe this song didn't perform better on the US charts.
My fave a-ha song as well. I loved it immediately. A blast to play on guitar as well. 🙂
Great song.I saw another reactor do Ren a couple of weeks ago i normally don't give new artists the time of day but this guy blew me away.I haven't been this excited about someone new since Ed Sheeran.
So much to discover with A-ha! My favourite band since I was nine years old (I’m 47 now 😮). Manhattan Skyline is amazing.
as electronic music goes this is one of my favorite songs in that genre. Similar electronic songs "Situation" by Yaz, "Boy" by Book of Love and "World in my Eyes" by Depeche Mode
Best A-Ha song, instrumentals are great. Often a band's best music does not have the greatest commercial success.
Their keyboardist, Mags, is a much better musician than I gave him credit for when I first heard these guys. Incredible.
I love Aha, my most favorite forever is Lifelines. The video, the music, I always cry! ❤
I think this is their best song! awesome track!! good one guys love it. ; )
Best reaction couple on youtube, so nice to see all the feelings you get off this song. I love A-HA + they are from the same country as me. Keep up the good work, you are the best.
Morten from A-ha has one of the most amazing male vocals I've ever heard. They have a lot of great songs!
Omg this is the best band. You will love Shapes that Go Together, The Living Daylights or Touchy by them!!
This song ... Wow!!! Forgot about it!!
80's × 💯 and this song is 💰
Thank you for bringing this one back around!! 👊 @RobSquadReactions
Very underrated song..
One of my favorite songs of all time. Just beautiful.
A-ha has definitely a sound of their own. Please react to more of their tunes ... you wont regret it!
I love this song so much🥰
If there is 1 A-ha song you need, it's 'Hunting High and Low'. So hauntingly beautiful and my absolute favorite. 💗💗
Great comment and suggestions.
My fave A Ha track ever. His voice is sublime.
This Song & Video was a hit when it came out despite some people being confused about the Mannequins in the Church! Very artistic and the entire “Hunting High and Low” Album from where this Song came from is incredible.
I remember this song from my childhood. I remember thinking this is such a weirdly beautiful song.
