Irish pub creates 'John Lewis-style' Christmas advert

- An Irish pub has given John Lewis a run for their money after imitating a Christmas advert in the style of the popular retailer.
Charlies Bar, a pub in Enniskillen in Northern Ireland, created an advert which shows an elderly gentleman going about his day before enjoying a pint of Guinness with friends and strangers.
The pub posted the video on TikTok with the advert viewed more than a quarter of a million times on the platform.

The little cute doggie looked first. But it was kind of the couple to let the old man enter the pub first - the doggie let the way, no doubt.❤

This is not a John Lewis Style advert. This is far superior to any advert a retail outfit has produced. This is in a class of its own

Lost my father 2 years ago , a lovely irish man , this video reminded me so much of him , loved a pint in the pub and good company ...i must admit i cryed so much when i saw this 😭...so simple but very heartfelt and to the point .well done charlies bar ❤

As long as it is privately owned and they do get the business needed to stay open. Pubs have all but disappeared. Pub Heritage, for example, reported this yesterday - though not in Ireland, the importance of a welcoming local remains:
Greater Manchester, ROYAL OAK HOTEL, Oldham.
The Royal Oak sadly closed on the 24th November after landlord Dave Sweeney, who has run the pub for 15 years, was given short notice by owners Inglenook Inns - who have sold to an undisclosed party. This is very concerning and was shocking news for both Mr Sweeney and the local community - who are now preparing an Asset of Community Value application. We do not yet know who the new owners are or of their intentions for the pub. It is grade II listed and has strong community support, so any application for change of use should not be straightforward.
A must to do when visiting IRELAND
For gawds sake, this had the tears flowing from the first minute.. spirit of Christmas personified.
My favourite Xmas ad so far. It’s pushed me into inviting my elderly neighbours for Xmas lunch. 🥂🥂 So thank you Ireland for setting a standard of care. ❤
I am my wife's full time carer, the only time I really get out the house is a few hours in the pub at the weekend, I usually just sit in the corner and read but random talk with the regulars or the bar staff asking how my days been is the only real human conversation I get in my week, plus I like to go to my wife's favourite pub, lots of good times and memories, pubs are special places
I can relate to the old man, I got divorced and spent 4 Christmases alone, but their are good people like in the video, I am remarried now, and try to pick lonely people up whenever I can, I know what it's like. Merry Xmas to all

The commercial advert market SHOULD be opened up to self produced/made ads as seasonal contenders, its NOT all about making millions. A truly remarkable advert with true meaning ❤️

England take note. Nobody can hold eye contact on the street, or acknowledge the presence of another human being. As a Scot, I'm horrified at how few social skills there are now.

Depends on where you are in England. Outside of London I find people are lovely and want to chat.

I'm an West Belfast Irish woman and I have to agree.
My husband and I where on holiday in Greece and met so many friendly English people. A lovely Scottish couple and the friendliest of all were the Greek people. Couldn't get over how welcoming, and genuinely lovely they are.
I just love nice friendly people. A smile ☺ costs nothing but can mean a lot to a sad person. ❤
