    At 6:29, when re-installing the rear wheel, that would also be a magnificent time to re-grease your axle. Lots of riders neglect this. Makes such a huge difference. I have always used the blue marine grease you can get at walmart.

      and at the end make sure the axle blocks are pushed up against the adjuster bolts unless you want your wheel falling off

    @Trav Ohlsen Which bike are you riding? Is it the jam nut that is stripped or is it the bolt head or threads? If it's any of the above you'll have to remove them any way you can and just replace the parts. If it's the threads in the swingarm that are stripped you'll have to drill and tap them and you can use a heli coil or something similar to fix them but it just depends on which part is stripped.

    My current bike chain is stretched out to the back. Does that mean my new chain I move the axel blocks all the way forward. ?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  День назад

      I wouldn't say all the way forward. But you might have to move them forward a little bit just to get the new chain over all the teeth on the sprockets and install the master link. Be sure to check your owners manual for the correct amount of chain slack for your bike.

    OK, To get the correct torque reading the torque wrench should be put on the Nut, not the bolt head. Using the bolt head will give an false reading due to measuring the addtional friction of turning the bolt in the sprocket. Always apply torque to the nut in these applications! 🙂

    When I was a kid, my friend was riding his bmx bike and reached down to check his chain ... he kept peddling and his fingers went into the front sprocket. His fingers stayed there until his dad came and loosened the back rim and got the chain loose 😮

    I changed the rear sprocket and rear wheel but not the front sprocket and chain. When i spin the rear wheel on the stand the chain seems to grip as it leaves the sprocket at the top and then ping off the sprocket. Could this be wheel alignment or is it likely to need a new chain and front sprocket?

    Where would be the best place to put a chain idler on a softail motorcycle, on the swing arm itself?

    So when removing/installing the rear wheel, you can just slip it out of the break? Their is nothing you have to disassemble to get the wheels disc out of the break itself?

    • @phillipstoltzfus3014
      @phillipstoltzfus3014 4 года назад

      Yeah that is usually how it is. Sometimes it is a pain to slip the brake back in between the pads .

    Why do you add thread lock when the nuts are already supplied as locknuts? Belt and braces perhaps?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  4 года назад +2

      I've seen too many sprocket bolts loosen up and ruin the sprocket and hub. A little threadlocker is extra security and insurance to ensure that won't happen. - Wes

      Always replace both sprockets and chain at the same time or you will end up ruining the new parts
