Great Craftsmanship fellas, my question is? Did you install any kind of grate/rack in the firebox, i.d.k. either way just asking, and approx.thickness of the diamond plate carbon steel thanks. Tony S. 27 YEAR BOILERMAKER/COMBO PIPE WELDER . Love the work, you guys remind me of my 10 year welding partner. Great times. Starting my build soon.🇺🇸👍🏻
@@KEN-Woodworking yes sir, sorry I failed to mention we used some 2"x2" square tube tacked to the bottom of the fire box and set a piece of removable ¾" expanded metal on top of that for air flow under the fire.
This is the type of video the average guy wants to view. A project that he can make in his garage and use on a regular basis at home. Nice build. Keep doing project videos we can learn from.
I like the complex/harder stuff they put are useful cuz everything else should come easy after that’s learned. which is exactly why they can this is so quickly cuz they got the hard skills on lock
I’m not sure who needs to hear this but keep your head up fam. Things will get better for you and your family. I used to have 5 brain tumors but now I only have 2 left to go. In the past I lost my hearing, had thoughts of suicide at one point, and I even have seizures sometimes but everything I went through wasn’t strong enough to kill me and if you’re reading this that means that you’re still here for a reason. It’s not about what we go through but it’s about how we get through it. Peace and love 💜
After everyone blew these folks up about using the " high dollar " tools on the garden hose spool video. They dropped back and used " homeowner " grade tools. These guys really try hard...I wish em luck! They have some pretty awesome skills, and like everyone one else they have bills to pay. Plugging a sponsor? Go for it! I would too.
@@ypaulbrown yes sir...this channel has been through some changes in staff. All of em have been top notch...the crew they have now...seem to be top notch also.
I really like it! I may love it but I have to sample some of that BBQ.😁😁 Great job and I dig the weld.com logo! You should make a FrankenBob head smoker next time! 😁
I’ve always cut the top side of the door first then weld the hinges on before cutting the rest of the door which keeps everything perfectly lined up, nice build though

Thermometer should be at grill height. There can be a big difference from where it was placed to the food on the grill. Add one. Smoke stack should not control the heat. Heat should be controlled by an operable vent in the fire box, stack should be wide open to prevent that over-smoked taste, yeah, it does happen. Nothing that can't be fixed. Nice project with basic tools.
I love your videos, but one suggestion on the projects: A detailed plan/diagram before you start so we can all picture what the final product is supposed to look like.
Me lol, I'm sitting on three compressor tanks , three 5gal propane tanks, two 30gal tanks, and two stainless beer kegs 😂 plus a large pile of scrap metal, drill pipe and sucker rod
Thanks for the project video, seems doable with a minimum of tools and maximum delicious results.
Exactly what we were aiming for! Don't forget to check out the blog for some recipes for a bbq smoker as well.
@@Welddotcom heading over now, thanks for the reminder.

Nice - I am going to have my high school welding students put something like this together.
That's awesome, please share with us when it's finished!
Excellent!
Cool thing you are using that Lincoln welder! Most of us use those! Excellent project.
Yes sir, I brought this machine from my shop. We use it on a regular basis. Perfect for projects like this.
Just in time for Labor Day......thanks Weld.com, Paul and Bob.....Cheers

That would be rad! I may have to put it in the weld.com member forum request!
Superb
Can't wait for someone to try making one of these with like a 75lb propane tank and not think to purge it first lol
Would definitely NOT DO THAT!
Came for the welding, stayed for the Thrasher sticker on the welding helmet

Nice!!! I'm going to have my daughter build me this... Would be a good first project for her.
Awesome video
Awesome!!!
How big is the tank? I make a proof of concept smoker for my friend out of an old propane BBQ, this looks like a nice upgrade without costing too much
It was a 20 gallon tank - you can find a list of all materials here: www.weld.com/blog
What kind of blade do you use to cut the steel for this project, and what rpm does the cut off sae run at?
We used weiler abrasives cuttings wheels on a standard 7.5 amp angle grinder. I'm not sure of the rpm though.
The blade on the chop saw not the angle grinder.
@@leeirvin5983 sorry, I forgot about the chop saw. I will get that info to you soon.
what material did u use for the smoker?
That's a great size for a nice back yard smoker! What are the rough dimensions (length and width) of the tank you used?
We have all of the details on our blog! www.weld.com/blog
I know soldering wire is lead, but is welding wire safe for cooking? I can really find an answer
Amazing build! I am building my first offset on my channel right now. A little bigger then yours but still. 😁
Nice! What's the first thing you are cooking?
@@Welddotcom i am thinking ribs. But after that hoping to try out a lot of different meats. Brand new thing for me this offset-smoker thing. :)

What in the methanfetamine is going on here
Who taught you two how to build a smoker? You have tons of mistakes. Best of luck....
