That was such a genius move on Squeenix’s part. When they went over how they were doing that in Remake, it seemed so innovative in a time when localizations were limited both by meaning/intent AND lip flaps. It helps make everything feel more natural in their respective languages and along with the battle system really gives the FFVII Re trilogy its own identity, though I hope both systems get used more going forward.
i wonder if yuffie would have had any extra dialogue for the grassland and junon side quests in earlier chapters if i didnt complete them before moving on to costa
I see this take a lot and I don't see how it ruins the character at all. Red even says that he faked that voice to be taken more seriously and not just as a talking dog. He isn't nearly as wise or experienced as the persona he portrays. His Grandfather even states that Nanaki would be 16 years old in our years. He sounds just like a teenager in the midst of puberty when using his real voice. He slips into the Red 13 voice when he wants to be now, and It shows growth from his character that he more comfortable talking in his real voice around us. Every major character goes through large amounts of reflection and growth in 7. Even in the OG Japanese release the way Red speaks changes to that of a much younger person in who he address people. That is lost in the English release of the game because of the difference in our languages.
@@naturalwizard1441 If it makes you feel better, he had a soft voice in Advent Children too. It's easy to forget cuz he speaks only one time and that was at the end.
@@D01287410 In the English release of FF7, Red does say things differently showing that he dropped the edgy act. Like when Yuffie steals your materia, if you had finished Cosmo Canyon first, Red will be demanding his stuff back instead of insulting humans on how its in their nature to steal. And there's more, especially if you pick him for things.
I'm gonna be honest if I was Cloud and someone called Nanaki's real voice stupid I would've said: "HEY! Don't you DARE talk bad about my friend!"

I finished the whole game recently, and now I am very fine with Nanaki being himself while sometimes using his deep voice for appropriate moments

Each sidequest is about Cloud and his relationship with one companion per mission.
If you wait until yuffie joins to do the Fort Condor quest, she comments how she liked playing in intergrade
