Contact your local health department. I live in Indiana and they came out to my apartment and did this same kind of test for free.
You’re very fortunate. The Health Department doesn’t offer that kind of service in Florida.

Been wanting to have my house checked. Always wake up with sore throat and pressure head ache when I sleep with my wife in our bedroom. She will actually cough up black parts in her saliva when she wakes up.
Sleeping on the mainfloor I'm fine however. Our upstairs has two rooms. Mine and my wife's master and our kids room. Kids room never seems to cause to many issues. The only other time I notice something is when it rains it does seem musty at the very top of the stairs going to the bedroom.
Can't find any Testers in my area so I'm about to get a mask and search my attic myself. Got a list of Tools I could buy to help me in discovering?

Both commercial and residential are about the same. Commercial has a lot more hidden areas.

There is a way to tell the temperature of tile or reflective materials, also general indoor air quality changes as the temperature and humidity rise. Do you test at sites or wall proximity samples?
I don’t quit understand your questions/statements, but this might help. There’s numerous ways to check temperatures and sampling locations depend on the issues and situations. Call me if you would like to discuss these questions further.

I’ve had a musty smell coming from my bathroom. We pulled the vanity out and found nothing, also had this guy come and check for moisture. He went really fast so I don’t believe he did a thorough investigation. Sometimes I smell this musty odor in my dishwasher and my son smelled it in the basement it’s stronger at times and not as strong at other times. We are checking all over and finding nothing. How can we locate the cause. My allergies are terrible and it’s February in Michigan. What do I do😞

I can relate! My wife and I were having the same issue... Every time my mother would come over, she would say, “it smells musty in here like you have a water leak...” Well sure enough we did! It was a small leak under our sink that went on for MONTHS before we caught it.
Soaking through our cabinets, flooring, and subfloor into our crawl space. We had to completely tear out our whole kitchen.
But there’s a happy ending! There’s no more moldy smell.

You have moisture and humidity coming and out so you don’t notice; you may have mold inside the bathroom walls because your bathroom fan isn’t working and isn’t used during shower to remove humidity.
Maybe check for a loose toilet? Or a toilet that was leaking prior then fixed? or still leaking? maybe they never replaced the rotten subfloor?
How much does a mold test from a pro usually cost? And what does a test usually consist of? Do they check to see where the mold is coming from or is it just to check if there is mold? Thank you

by giving no answer it sounds like there’s no common ground and people get ripped off all the time.
@@ginoasci2876 Did you not watch the video? He clearly demonstrated how he searches for mold with not 1 but 2 very expensive and specific tools. They will tell you where mold may be. Then the air quality check pretty much determines if mold is in the air ventilation HVAC system. As far as price. That does determine how big the house is, how many rooms they want sampled with the air sample machine and how fast they want the results back.
I’d be happy to answer your question directly. My company charges a starting price between 400-600 for an inspection and a couple air sample collections included (depending on customer type and location) with additional samples costing about $50-75 per additional sample collected at the request of the client.
Standard testing involves taking an air sample collection from an area of concern, and another air sample from the outside environment as a baseline. This gives you scientifically gathered information about whether or not there’s an elevation in the mold spores which are actually detectable and what people are breathing.
When there’s a concern that something, anything, may be mold, a surface sample collection can be taken for lab analysis to once again, scientifically determine a mold source, and what type of mold was found (not as important).
A real mold inspection service will come with a work plan to address the mold following guidelines issued by the state (if any).
