I always feel better after I've painted something in bright colors, and poppy flowers and buds are really very satisfying to paint. My 343 th. Poppies always are a nice subject. They are popping up in sometimes surprising places in nature. Reminds me of a fotoshoot with my mam when I was a young becoming adult. In her light dress she danced in a compleet field filled with poppies. An image I never forget I hope. 😊wim

The way you are able to paint those different poppy shapes with the flat brush is just mesmerizing! It looks so effortless. I love watching you paint. I will definitely try this, but will be practicing a lot first in my sketchbook. 🙂

I was thinking if you were struggling for an idea maybe you could put it out to your followers to come up with an idea then once a week paint what someone has come up with. Not that I have the foggiest half the time. Thankyou to you and Tamsin for all that you do for us I love every minute of your tutorials xx🥰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    Poppies are my favorite- I suck at painting them but paint them anyway- makes me happy to see them on a walk and ‘popping’ up in unexpected places- of course I’ll try these - and who knows- one of these days they’ll turn out nice - (my perfectionism is in the way) and ohh😍that pretty bag will be mine - actually the first ’item’ I purchase this year as I’m on a ‘no buy year’ unless it benefits my health- 🤔 think it counts 👩‍🎨💕always amazes me how a few ink lines change the whole picture 👍thank you for always inspiring us ❤

    I love that one so much but then I'm a Cali poppy gal. I actually was able to follow along and was pleased that I had everything you had except that I didn't have your 1/2" flat. Is that in your new set. The set I got last year is 1". Also, I do have the 48 Kuretake but don't seem to have that 'red blue'? I replayed a few times and just couldn't catch that color. I didn't do too badly but certainly not card worthy, but I was on a practice sheet and will keep working at it. Thanks so much for this piece!

    Where do you get your inspiration from when you paint? Do you look at many photos or books showing pictures of these subject matters or do you travel to specific places to look at flowers and plants and paint them from memory? Just wondered how painters get their new project ideas!

    • @DianeAntoneStudio
      @DianeAntoneStudio  21 день назад +9

      These particular poppies were painted from memory (I’ve got 19 other poppy videos on RUclips so I’ve done them quite a bit.) But for everything else I use books very much, my own garden, my life experience and other artists’ work as inspiration. And I sometimes cannot come up with anything original, so I just repeat something I’ve done before!

    Hi Diane, I absolutely love poppies and what a beautiful pouch, I love that too! Can I just ask a question as you are in France and have a studio outside?……..I live in Kent and have bought a small log cabin for the garden to use as a small studio to craft and store my paper and paints etc in there but I’m worried they will get ruined if it is a very warm day (not much chance of that lately) or in the winter when it’s very cold? How do you store your art supplies? Do you have a temperature controlled studio as it’s separate from the house? Any ideas and tips welcome please because I don’t want my supplies ruined if I store them in the cabin but then I also want a space that has everything to hand to use when I’m in the mood and then don’t have to put it all away again until next time because that really puts me off painting on a whim if I have to get everything out and prepare a space first, by the time I’ve sorted it all I’ve lost the inspiration and mood.

    • @DianeAntoneStudio
      @DianeAntoneStudio  19 дней назад +1

      Hi and thanks so much for your kind message and your question! I used to live in Kent until I moved to France! I had a cottage in Faversham, and my studio was a shed at the bottom of the garden. It wasn’t insulated or heated, but I kept everything there - materials and paintings and everything - and because it wasn’t DAMP inside everything was fine. I can’t think of anything watercolor related that would suffer from any of the weather Kent can throw at you - it never gets arctic cold, does it, and never (not even in a heatwave) tropically hot or humid. So I honestly think you’ll be ok. I’m in a concrete building now, but we have installed air conditioning which does the heating and the cooling, both essential in the slightly more extreme climate here and with the weather getting colder and hotter. But even without it (which makes it bearable for us so we can still work inside it) I don’t think I’ve noticed any damage to anything, not even my oil paints. Hope this helps - it’s so important to have a dedicated space and I wish you much fun and joy from your cabin (how cute!!)

      @@DianeAntoneStudio Hi Diane, Faversham is not far from me in Herne Bay. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it. I value your experience and I’m happy I can go ahead and create my craft space and store my supplies without worry. It will be so nice to have a dedicated space for when I’m in the mood to create and paint. I do have some acrylic paints and inks but I really want to learn watercolour and do a bit of mixed media. I love your approach and how you use different supplies in your art and I’m looking forward to trying out more of your tutorials when I’m all set up!
