@shanearnold1999 Nope, I can only change the title, description etc. if I were to re-edit the short, I'd have to reupload it too as a separate video (also this is my third short ever, I didn't know what I was doing lol)
I really can't understand how an Agency could own a voice of a person. Like they maybe own the distribute rights to her songs prior to her quitting, but her voice and right to sing... The music industry is just full of exploitation and greedy people
The issue was Kesha, as at the time of making the episode she was still in a legal battle with her old record label. Even though they had a separate person sing this song, since Kesha helped write it Spindlehorse was still at risk of getting sued by the record label. The episode was officially released a day after the lawsuit was over and Kesha was free of them 😊
Not sure if it was true or not, but I heard a rumor there was another version that possibly Kesha, but also due to legal issues they did it with another singer to protect it. I mean even if it's true or not regardless the girl they got is amazing. A lot of people didn't even realize at first it wasn't kesha
Well, contracts are binding, and it was listed in such a contract. But it's possible for people like Kesha to nullify the contract. The only issue is that it's the agency giving her money. If she nulls the contract, then she doesn't get the money her music makes.
and then on Rochelle's tiktok account, she had to explain multiple times that she was the one singing, and people in the comments were gaslighting her saying "yeah no, nice try tho" even after others told them to look at the credits, they refused to do so
What’s funny is that the singer was Rochelle diamanté not Kesha it’s crazy how she sounds so similar. But honestly great singer. Hope she makes it far.
I can only imagine how frustrating it was for Kesha. Frustrating for everyone but especially her. Here she is trying to gain freedom and independence from her label but because of those issues she couldn’t sing an original song for a show she was cast in. I can only imagine how embarrassing it was to have to do this whole back and forth only to tell the writers “hey, against my own will I can’t do it.”
I have a theory that Kesha originally sang the song but for whatever "legal issue" it wasn't in the final take. So they had to find a different person to sing the song in her place. I'm sure it was one of Vivz mind blowing dream goals to have Kesha portray a character and sing a song in any of her animations
If I remember correctly the only fucking reason they got sued. It was because of the record label producer people. They basically sued them Cause I think one of them again, record label people. Got mad that Kesha quit or something And took ownership of the song. I don't know.❓️
i dont understand ur comment at all but i gotta say that it was probably bc Vivziepop made an animation with kesha song and something balbla happened so it got taken down once or twice and stuff more than a few years ago
No. The label didn't own the song. Kesha was in a massive legal scuffle to get out of her contract (because her producer was an asshole) but because she was still technically under contract the label COULD have claimed they had rights to the song Vivzie's team were never sued over this matter, they held back the episode to avoid that
If I had to guess, this was the legal issue. Kesha has a contract with her agency that gives them 100% ownership/exclusive rights to her music. During the process of creating this episode, this agency either wouldn’t allow Kesha to preform or requested a lot of money to do so. This back and forth of trying to find some sort of comprise probably took awhile, hence the delays. This would also explain why the Die Young video was removed as well. If they worked out a deal where Kesha technically wouldn’t preform, her Agency wouldn’t like the fact that “their” music was on the same RUclips channel. It’s kinda like those people who clickbait to try and get people to look at the rest of their channel, if that makes sense. They don’t want other people profiting/benefiting of Kesha’s music and while it might have been fine to have a fan made animation, it kinda crosses that boundary when the actual celebrity works in one of your projects. I hope this makes sense.
It’s more than that. Keisha already knew she wouldn’t be allowed to sing because her record label didn’t give the OK. Hence animators comprised by having a Keisha soundalike to sing, but Keisha herself would just voice the character. What made it a legal issue was that Keisha actually helped write the song, effectively making it her agency’s property. Hence why they delayed until she got out of her contract.
Kesha was supposedly having trouble at the time. They had to wait until everything was resolved. They also had to find a singer that sounded like her as a work around so nobody (show or Kesha) got in trouble. (As far as I heard)
Stuff like this happens a lot in media, not to mention originally I knew Kesha was in this, and when queen bee starts singing I could tell it wasn't her. But I know she ghost writes for a ton of people, including K- pop artist. She legit writes for everyone almost its insane how talented she is when it comes to writing. even though im not like a huge fan of hers. that being said, as a comparison to this, If anyone has seeing the show paradise city or the movie American satan. That was made by Sumerian records, then you will know Andy the vocalist for BVB is like the front man in the movie and show but another vocalist named Remington from a band called palaye royal does all the music in the show, because of legal issues, and now there just kind of stuck with it.
Yea Kesha was fucked over in a lot of her contracts meaning her singing voice isn't legally hers. She wanted to sing the song she wrote but it was just legally impossible
Its because kesha's singing voice is still copy writed and owned by the company that got her her albums published... itnwas sung by her first... but the legal team threatened lawsuit... so they had to re record it after sadly losing the suit
If Kesha had sung the song it would have been struck in copy write laws and what not as the record company basically gets rights to anything she sings. At one point in the song you can hear where the original song comes threw for a moment. Rochelle did a great job on the song but I still would love to one day hear Kesha's version of it as well.
They didn't get Kesha out of her legal contact in enough time, so they hired another artist to do the song itself. However there were still issues with who owned her written songs, which is what delayed the episode. When she won her case owning all of her songs they decided to air the episode as is instead of re recording the song with her voice
Kesha was supposed to sing, but she wasn’t allowed to because of her record label contract. She had already originally recorded it, but again, because of the contract, they had to hire someone else to do the singing. 😅
The legal issues are asking because of her die young video from years ago, which is now made private and was made private bought a little while before the episode went live that was illegal if you problems
Kesha did not like her agency, but trapped under contract, she knew the money for any music she made would be locked to the agency. She held off until the contract's end
I really don't get this bullshit over the voice actors, the singing VAs, and now Kesha didn't even get to sing a song she's more than perfectly capable of singing? Man, VAs get treated so badly.
I think you're close, but you're not explaining the fill context. Kesha was in s legal battle that was making it difficult to even make new content, so it's highly possible that either her voicing Bee was the issue, OR, that she wrote and recorded Cotton Candy, that got struck down for legal issues, they re-recorded it with a soundalike and then it STILL was blocked because she had a writing credit on the song. That's my best guess, at least.
It wasn’t a “might have been the reason,” that’s for sure. It was confirmed as the reason as the studio Ke$ha works for legally owns her singing voice in contract (in simpler terms) and Spindlehorse would have had to pay ridiculous royalties for that episode. Their loophole was having Ke$ha voice the character (as it *was* something she wanted to do) and someone else that sounds similar to her sing it.
Or maybe it was because Kesha was in the middle of a lawsuit that had just cleared in, more or less, Kesha's favor, and Vivzie wouldn't be sued into oblivion.
Kesha helped write the song, but since she was still in the process of separating from her current record deal holder (due to sexual harassment from her agent -- it's a big mess, you can read up on it independently if you're that interested), if Vivziepop and company used her rendition of it, the record company could still claim copyright infringement and have the episode taken down. That was the legal issue that had the episode delayed for so long. Having a separate singer perform the song circumvented the legal issues that would follow if Kesha's version of the song was used. Pretty sure Kesha WAS the legal issue. She wanted to be released from her contract and the agency said "lolnobitch, ur ours forever."
Wouldn’t that make her agency the issue?

Now you can prove them wrong by simply showing them the credits :)
the reason the episode was delayed was because if kesha's studio saw she wrote the song they would sue spindlehorse
