At 31:09 when you are looking at the big buck in the distance there was a rack moving through the beans in front of you.

At The last of this video you should’ve drawn your bow 🏹 when he bent down & looked away for 3 seconds to scratch his neck with his hoof or nibble on his opposite shoulder whatever he done there. Because that was your wide open chance to quickly draw because he still hadn’t spotted ya yet at that point. I’m an older man been deer hunting since all I had to hunt with bow wise was A Fred Bear recurve or the first Fred Bear compound bows with not much at all let off. OLD SCHOOL STUFF! But it was new technology to us back then. I hunted with the Fred Bear whitetail & Whitetail 2 . I’ve missed opportunities to draw with Huge Bucks 10 yards from me just like that. I missed so many opportunities to Draw because id be frozen trying to be still & motionless just hoping he wouldn’t see me or that the wind would change directions and he smell me.... Then after they spotted me and blew and showed me the white flag of Bye Bye 👋🏼 🦌 kiss my A** & I hope I don’t see ya later 😂
The Whole time id be kicking myself in the A** for not Drawing 🏹 when he looked away or when he stopped to scratch and wasn’t looking! But I get it I Been there and I know what the freeze up is like . Although I’ve harvested some big Bucks over the years in the early years I’ve still cost myself some really big bruisers from the nervous freeze 🥶 up. Where that close encounter had me so nervously froze up my brain wasn’t telling my arms to draw the damn bow when I saw him stop and look away or scratch exactly like I just saw in the end of this video! The older I got & I’m about 60 now but I learned to have my bow 🏹 , Muzzleloader or rifle in my hand ready & looking for that opening for A quick reaction during close encounters. Once I got 40+ years old I learned to use that nervous freeze 🥶 in situations like that as if it’s now or never when he gave me that opening. Or id tell myself I’ve gotta harvest this deer or I’m gonna go without food. Make my mind think I’m in a survival situation & It works. The odds are in your favor to do a quick draw and release or shooting of a gun at close range when they give you an opening To quickly get the draw on them! The ones that was that close & I pointed and shot with one of my rifles But it’s something that you have to work on to get your brain to say to your arms HEY DAMNIT HE’S NOT LOOKING DRAW OR RAISE YOUR GUN & DO IT FAST 💨! By the time he turns around because he heard you you’re already releasing the arrow or have already squeezed off your round. But believe me I’ve frozen up like that a bunch of times and then wished later I’d have made my move after I missed a chance at a monster buck & I blew it. I Done that 💩many many times until I finally decided to start taking my chances by waiting on him to look away and give me 2-3 seconds and I done it right then. That’s when I start killing more deer 🦌 during spot and stalk or just having one come up on me like that. That staying frozen crap 💩 is fine as long as you get unfrozen the second your opportunity shows itself. Brother I hope you got another chance to draw on that buck in the upcoming video. Or otherwise If you heard the Annnnk & seen the white flag of 🦌kiss 😘 my A** I hope not to see ya later ? Then the back of your 2 boot🥾 heels is still kicking yourself in the A** ! 😂🤣
Trust me I’ve been there many times 😆. But I hope you got another chance and become unfrozen! 😁👍🏼

I actually went back and watched the ending again and I counted 6 seconds that Buck 🦌 gave you to draw and start putting a pin on him when he bent down to scratch. 😉

Hey, I got a video concept for you guys on a fixed stand site location probably on private property perhaps Aaron at your dads place in Missouri, putting a mannequin dressed as a hunter in a stationary treestand and leaving it there until you hunted that way when the deer come along and they’re familiar with that stand, they’re used to someone being in that location due to the mannequin being there just a weird concept but would make an interesting video. Obviously if they don’t know you’re there in the first place that’s a benefit, but just thought it would make an interesting video.

Amazingly, even with gillie suits and other types of camo patterns, so many camo's are way too dark when you see yourself in the surrounding terrain on film. I noticed this on myself, checking trail cams when the camera would take a photo/video of me. I would think my camo was a pretty good color and when I reviewed the pics, I looked like a dark blob surrounded by a light covered background. I think most patterns are way too dark for many types of terrain. I have two different gillie jackets, and the spring green and gray color works way better for all seasons than the darker (supposedly Fall pattern) jacket.

This is how most of my encounters go. Even bird hunting with the dog, well come in, on the down wind and walk right into deer like this. And just like you guys, when you realize youre close, it's too late. It's when I catch myself just before and tell my self to stop. Missed a doe last year in the open hard woods on a calm bluebird nov day. Walked right into eachother. I was still hunting scratching around like deer / turkeys making noise. Making sure to only stop at cover.
