It's cool you guys are showing ppl how to upgrade their old stuff, especially if they are on a budget. My brother was gonna buy my nephew a new unsealed headset for his bike & I had to step in & make him get the mission headset. It rides better than ever.
The Tange MX 320 headset with precision bearings works perfectly with old school 1" threaded forks. I would only have a bike shop install it, because you need to press in the cups, it won't survive banging or a vice, needs a Park Tool headset press to install. Smooth as butter.
Great video! Was looking at that headset to convert my 2005 Haro F2! Haven’t rode in about 15 years and pulled out my old bike and started looking into upgrades. Lots of new brands out there now. I feel lost. lol
I been binge watching this your a smart dude dude you should do some wide hubbed bikes to like a Different chapter there ain't much out on them type of bikes jus saying tho
I have a question, can a Star Nut headset be installed on a INTERNALLY THREADED forks? meaning the forks have threads but they’re inside the steering tube. its from a Haro 26”. I wanted to change the headset but ran into that issue. Please help? thank you
@@Fifty_bmx I checked right after I made the comment. They still make it. 16 year old me had to have it because that's what Nyquist used, and he was doing bars with, into, and/or out of everything before everyone else.
My midschool Freeagent stock forks actually came with an integrated race crown, I guess it was ahead of it's time lol. I did cop the Mission conversion headset a while back and it was one of the more, bang for your buck, upgrades.
Great Video!! I got a challenge for you, What is the lightest modern freestyle complete bike can you make? You should do a build video with a parts list...
You lost me with the landing gear forks. I’m trying to upgrade the bearing on my OM flyer right now. You broke out those forks and said I need to press in a cup on my frame? I think I’m more confused now. I was just going to buy a sealed bearing set.
Im not a rocket scientist but for some reason it seems like the integrated headset bearings don't fit in my Subrosa Sonos XL. The cups are machined in but if I put those bearings in I still have play after everything is tightened down. I made sure I used all the pieces but I'm still having problems. I've been away from BMX for a few years due to injury and a lot has changed so I'm kind of lost. Please help me out here
Shot for the video and explanation, so the Mission conversion kit is only for frames with 1 1/8" inch headset. I have a Mongoose Supergoose Black Classic Repop which according to the specs is 1". Is there a conversion kit available for 1"?
hi daft question probably but my bmx 20inch tyres say max load 165lbs…. I’m 180lbs… is that ok or not??….please go easy guys i know its a daft question but I’m just a newbie
Thumbs down. you need to add metric and how to measure. and you need to film in a clean environment for example by using a white table and white background(paper) alternatively, a dark backround. better for night vision anyways. and shorten down everything to the bare minimum length. edit it down to a short. no more than 20 seconds .
Hwaaaw thanks for the info! Have a 26er with 1 1/8 headset non integrated and plans to make it integrated. Hope you discuss advantage or disadvantage of the 2 like price handling...
What will I need to convert my old Mongoose Villain frame. I am rebuilding it for my Granddaughter! Let me know what I will need to convert headset, and a new bottom bearing that will accept a 3-piece crank.
So my 2023 Sunday primer has sealed bearings on top and plastic caged bottom bearings. Am I able to just convert the bottom to sealed if I remove the race on the fork and in the steering tube? Or do I have to do a few other mods? I want to get different forks and might as well go full sealed when I do
Yeah back in the day I uesd to have a STA model R with a fsa Pig headset on it which had beefier lower bearings plus it was out of my price range but I always wanted a solid bikes headset as it had needle roller bearing which look super smooth!
I've been trying to look for a integrated freestyle headset with a hollow Bolt for the front brake set and I can only find it in Black, is there another company that makes them in different colors like white or yellow, with a white or yellow cap?
Sealed bearings on my circa 2000 frame just like a mountain bike 1 1/8 set up but the head tube is straight. Only thing to watch out for is some of those mtb branded headsets can be too fat if you want to run a gyro. I think the angled race being built into the fork is a bad idea. Taking a race off and putting a new one on can be a pain sometimes but it's got to be better than replacing the whole fork. Both of your frames flair out at either end of the head tube. Aren't the both integrated but one takes loose bearings and one sealed?
hello bro its not my account but like BMX is my dream and i have one BMX before but now its broken and i don't have money to buy new one and can i get one of your BMX bikes pls make my dream true ..
can i ask some question?i have an old japan folding bike and i want to change its headset what can i do to change it or what other types of head set can i use?the one that i have now is a threaded type and the size is 22.2
@@Patrick_Andrews917 the 720. Frame still holds up with the rest. The pedals and tires gave out quick tho. Went with odyssey stuff. Kinda tired of servicing the loose bearings tho so I wanted to convert to sealed.

you can hammer out the old cups with a flathead screwdriver, as for installing the new cups i recomend getting a bolt styled press as hammering them in can damage them if you slip up.
been riding for 25 years, and went to mtb recently what this guy is saying is straight true everyone. Very good sound advice!! Did you see the zs44 ec44/40 press in outer for bottom cup to take a tapered fork, and put it onto a non tapered frame. its really cool look it up :)
I made a vid about this topic. But Phu laying down more knowledge. I haven’t been able to work ona bmx in so long. This has really got me itchin to just tear my whole bike apart just to regrease it.
Tx you explained it wonderfully. Only wish that you would have Installed it on a frame. Watching your assembly videos is so satisfying.

I got the Jet BMX knockoff from Amazon. Its great for my older eastern.
idk why but i think i like the tech videos more than riding clips. i think it's cuz there's so much riding and less tech reviews.

Video about hydraulic brakes. I just rebled my brakes 3 times just to find out the rotor was making it squishy.
Excellent video thanks Alf & Phu 🏁🏁👍
They used to make a 1 1/8 headset for 1 inch frames.
This guy is all over the place with what he's trying to say. Needs to get his shit together before making a video
Who sell that kit?
I thumb down every video just for the love.
Or just get any ec34 mom headset that uses 41.8mm sealed bearings.
U will become great 👍 thanks phu u da best
Your next mission, should you choose to accept it: Put 1.5 (39.8mm) tapered steerer fork in 1 1/8 traditional frame! Thank you are Amazing!

is this only exclusive to bmx frames? i wanna upgrade the fork on my road bike with 1 1/8 headset
Thanks guys! I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us!
Always coming with best timed videos. I was just thinking about this. Keep it up phu, max, and Alfredo. Liked

Do they not make sealed press cup bearings anymore? I've been running an FSA Pig DH Pro on my mid school bikes since I built my first bike in like 01.

I did this to my '99 ep a few years ago. Very simple to understand. I installed odyssey forks with an integrated race and it works awesome.
Can u put an integrated conical headset on a regular integrated frame 2022 cult control
My old fsa pig headset had sealed, they it worked great.
Those were bomb proof
i give thumbs up for the bearing grease you use in your hair
Thank for the knowledge you consistently provide us all.

Dude!! The explanation I’ve been searching for!
Can you convert an integrated to 1.5” tapered??

whats up with a 2010ish diamondback joker?
I converted the headset on my fit series one using the Verde Neo conversion kit to fit my odyssey forks and it works very well.

You mentioned two types of crown race’s.
What’s the name of the crown race that’s for integrated bearings and ball bearings?
Any conversation headset and bearing kits for older 1inch threaded frame for 1 1/8 threadless forks?
Is there a 32.5 press fit cups that fit in 1-1/8 fork? What have to look for in the headset? It doesnt matter if it is sealed bearing or not. Thanx.
So no good for 1inch at all then ? Because I don’t believe there is an 80’s frame that is not 1inch fitting also the forks were always threaded
I've been trying to look for a integrated freestyle headset with a hollow Bolt for the front brake set and I can only find it in Black, is there another company that makes them in different colors like white or yellow, with a white or yellow cap?

Tange make a 1 inch integrated headset kit for oldshool frames
What's the difference about these two when you try freestyle tricks?
What a load of bollocks there are 100s of 11/8th sealed headsets available .
Most integrated headsets have lower races included
Do have a video on placing the cups into the old frame
Yo are probably have to upgrade your fork also so this will work.
