I am having this procedure next week. I am a retired dentist and I love the anatomy lesson as well as the understanding and clarity you have presented.
You have described me perfectly. 78 yoa, excellent health, medication no longer effective, had TURP recommended and experienced the turf war comments from the
Urologist. In particular I like the titrated treatment approach. If the results are not satisfactory with this procedure there is always a more aggressive type that can be employed. Great lecture

Hi Sylvester, I think to have PAE, can you please share with me some of your experience? Are still happy with the results one year or more after having PAE? Thank you.

@@haimkohan9241 I did not get a good result. The Physician was unable to negotiate the artery that supplied the left side of the prostate and so I only had minimal success. That does not negate the procedure however since this is a problem specific to my anatomy.

@@sylvesterpalermo937 Thank you Sylvester for sharing your experience with me. I am sorry to hear that you had only a minimal success. I arrived three days ago in NY for the sole purpose of having PAE, and I wonder where and by whom to have it done. Can you please, dear Sylvester Palermo, tell me where (and if possible by whom) did you have the PAE? Thank you so much.

@@haimkohan9241 My treatment was done in Atlanta Georgia. These procedures are performed by Interventional Radiologists, not Urologists. I would suggest using your search engine to find a group and then use their website to decide if you trust the Doctor. Then a consult with him/her should be sufficient to decide.

@@sylvesterpalermo937 Thank you for your answer and suggestion about finding a group - it sounds so reasonable. One more question if possible. I am 70 years old, and not very good with the new technology. How do I go about finding a group (am in NYC now)?

Excellent video. Very helpful for me to gain a much better understanding of the PAE procedure. I am having one done in early October and am very much looking forward to the relief it offers for BPH symptoms. Thanks!

great presentation. I have a question about collateral coiling. The reason you coil a collateral is to protect it from the embolization, but are you not causing ischemia by occluding the artery in the first place (by coiling it)? thanks

The vessel beyond the coil is patent , so are the vessels in the penis...these refill via collaterals

@@haimkohan9241 it’s better than it was but not as good as I thought it would be. I think my body built veins around some of the blocks. I’d still try it because if you aren’t happy it doesn’t preclude you from the other procedures
