About the levels not being procedural, I feel like they're kind of more like set arenas, rather than full on levels, so it makes sense and fits with the style of the game. Like you said, not a rogue like.

This was a fun one, and I liked that they did something different with the reload system. Having different skills or abilities depending on what you press is something I have not seen before. Sure, sometimes they add a super move or bonus, but not different mechanisms.
After playing a few bullet heavens (Vampire Survivors, Holocure, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor) the question I always come back to is "Sure, that was fun, but why isn't this a twin stick?" There are great design lessons to learn from bullet heavens (build crafting, slot machine dopamine, etc) but every single one of those games would be improved with the ability to aim and more movement mechanics such as dashes or active blocks.
Already looking excellent. I do hope there are enough equipment and map variety in the release version to keep it fresh for a while. As for gun sounds, I find the Synthetik games to still be top tier in the genre. They really know how to make guns sound meaty, even the nail gun sounds like it packs some power.
I love isometric action games, so this is an instant wishlist for me. Also, have you checked out the game called Withering Rooms? That game's a hidden gem imo, i spent 6 hours on the demo alone. It was so fun.
I love the idea of buying stuff that otherwise takes achievements. I hate unlocking stuff with achievements. I want to play the game the way I want to play it, not be forced into particular playstyles just to progress. It was the main reason I quit playing Risk of Rain 2.
One another point i'd put against it is the font is hard to read. If they have an alternate font or something in accessibility options to fix it then great but if not it needs itr badly.
Judging by what I can see, what this game is missing is more visceral gameplay, the pace and intensity is there, just don’t like to see enemies disappearing on death, would prefer more guts and carnage, just my take, maybe I’m being overly critical but I think they’ve missed a trick. More visceral gore would massively improve the feel of this game
A couple criticisms I will levy against this title 1) I CANNOT read that font. Maybe it looks better on a bugger screen or slightly larger UI, but it’s a bummer because it looks cool, just unreadable 2) I don’t understand UI at all. He kept saying “I’m out of X, Y or Z” and nothing on the UI looks like he was out of anything(super bar and normal ammo being the exceptions) Both of those are fixable and neither are game breaking, just hard to understand. This looks like a cool tech demo and I’m looking forward to seeing where they go with this title. There’s a lot of potential here, let’s see what you got devs!
Reminds me of Devil Daggers. ~Also I don't understand how this is not a roguelike as it's closer to rogue than anything else, in the sense you lose everything from run to run... as I understood...
Rogue-Like gamers are complaining about all the Rogue-Lite, progression based twinstick shooters apparently. I'm sitting here like "can I have more twinstick games that are not rogue or shooter?". If anyone wants to illuminate my ignorance to some examples you'd be doing me a favor.
really? on reddit or what? the ascent is the only non roguelike twin stick shooter i've played in recent times. You're probably already familiar with it though, it got some attention
Hell is also the condition of being able to win every battles but you are guaranteed to never win the war, meaning no end game reward of even the smallest hope of escape. The illusion of waking up but finding you are in another bad dream dimensional travel loops. And it never ends. Looks fun for a bit, but not for those older players who had played many long countless hours long long ago in Diablo2.
This channel remains one of my top sources for great new indie jams.
Whats your others

This game gave me anxiety from just watching you play it, Matt! I can't even imagine how you were managing that while doing live commentary!
Bro knows about Crimsonland, what a gamer!
yes! i didn't even know it was a well-known game - but I played it so much as a teenager.
Crimsonland was FIRE
I fucking loved Crimsonland's typing challenge back in high school.
check tesla vs lovecraft ^^
@@danielkowalski7527 we just might friend, thanks for the recommandation.

The reload-system is taken from, or at least very similar to, Synthetik, from 2018.
@@dampfplauderer138 Interesting. I haven't played that one yet. Still, not often seen.
Reminds me a little bit of Returnal as well. I’m such a whore for active reloads
"For the satisfaction of whoever your torturer is."
That might be you, to be blant.
Innovation on active reloads AND alternative progression systems? This looks rad for those concepts alone.
Always finding good stuff on this channel. Thank you once again ^^
I love the way this looks and moves, it's on my wishlist.
I love seeing how many views you can get in such a small window of time. A freaking G.
vampire survivors and Loaded splice. Love it
Oh cool I didn't know the demo was out, been really looking forward to this game since it was announced, looks like a lot of fun

have you tried Soulstone survivors?
@@andylastname566 I have not yet. Does it include more twinstick mechanics?
@@legomacinnisinc yeah I play it only with my Xbox controller.
you might want to check Death Must Die, kinda like vampire survivors plus boon system of hades and diablo loot
I know people are giving you suggestions for survivor games that are twin stick - 20 minutes till dawn is another one.

The story premise is just the Khornate heaven, and Doomguy's past time.
Thanks for showcasing. ^^
when a game just clicks with you.
13:13 Phrasing 😂😂😂

low key excited for that one
A good game to honor your subscriber count of 888K. Khorne approves.
Crimsonland but Synthetik but Doom but Deep Rock Galactic
This reminds me more than anything of an isometric version of Devil Daggers.
I love the idea of buying stuff that otherwise takes achievements. I hate unlocking stuff with achievements. I want to play the game the way I want to play it, not be forced into particular playstyles just to progress. It was the main reason I quit playing Risk of Rain 2.
Appreciate the look at this - wishlisted!
ooof.
its been aeons since i've heard about crimsonland and last and only time i've heard it was from my brother
good shit splat
is phrasing just not a thing anymore?
You had me at 'beer and bretzels'!

The Oath of Murder
Damn. Was hoping this would be rogue-li%e.

I miss Sigma Team games... this one needs much more blood, but looks like its got a lot of potential :)
Yeah alien shooter was really amazing back in the day
They should make an updated version of Smash TV
I'd buy that for a dollar!
Reminds me of Devil Daggers.

this's so sick💥
Funny I just heard of & played Crimsonland for the first time like a month ago. I know I'm late. Thanks for the quality content!
Can someone tell me how long is this game, wanted a short game to play before sparking zero and um interested in this
It's only 5 levels long but it's hard as hell
Whaaaaa 😱Thanks bro! Will check this out ❤
Devil daggers but top-down?
Finally another game Similar to ALIENATION ps exclusive 😮

saw the teaser and immediately put on my wishlist
Looks decent but i dont like the way the meta currency despawns during play but other than that it looks decent
Reminds me of SAS4
Just recently finished the demo. I can't wait to play the full game and see what sort of weapons they add!
I played a twin stick shooter with keyboard and mouse, once.
It is Gauntlet 😊
Anybody else played Darksiders Genesis?
🖤
Reminds me of Diablo
From the trailer I expected a lot more
Imagine this but gears of war or space marines….
greetings
First, Let's gooo!
What a terrible Knight to have a curse.
Doesn't look bad
I would have said it's like "Devil Daggers"
AHH smash TV vibes love it hate vap surviver shit
You are here because epic games made it free 😂❤
Looks doll. No variation really.
Yeah, just like DOOM.
Mobile DOOM...
Game looks monotonous environment wise
Jesus, it looks better than Diablo4….
Blizzard really does SUCK!
more like alien shooter
