that footstep sound... lol. doesn't exactly sound like shoes. the timing on it is probably not helpful either... well, that or splat was REALLY enjoying your game.
love the feel of your game!. have never been a fan of the straight top-down perspective but your game looks so nice altogether I'm going to give it a go!

The gameplay is wonderful and I'm sure it will improve. but it’s also worth creating a good narrative and world-building. Since the inspiration from Dark Souls is there, I would like to see the exploration of storytelling in that vein. Lots of potential in this work of art. I hope you have much success, man.
After 10 years of being tortured in the torture dungeon, finally someone has come and opened the door to your cell. he looks like he came from outside the torture dungeon and you dare to get your hopes up of escaping thia hell but no, he slices you down because he thinks you might try something.

I don't love the top-down "looking at the tops of heads" perspective but it looks kinda cool.
spears: most successful weapons in history, utterly ignored in videogames.

@@brendenwinkfield2867 spears have been around for hundreds of millennia, guns only for a few centuries I think they deserve some credit!
and i said successful not effective. of course a phone is more efficient than a letter at communicating stuff but we don't know how long this level of tech will survive yet! spears will provide steaks even in the post apocalypse mate 😆

They actually gave the spear in 7 days to die a decent stab reach over other weapons. They gave it none of the extra things you can do with spears though.

As soon as he loaded into the level I got Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves vibes, from the NES.
This game has so much potential to be more than awesome. I love the Soulslike feeling it gives and the close camera that is not static is extremely well made to boost the effect of graphics and combat feel. It has this similar weird unnatural feeling and mystery that we have in Dark Souls/Bloodborne/Elden Ring games.
Darkwood combined with Exanima is exactly what I was thinking this is. Glad you mentioned both of those!

Great demo, I like how hyper deadly the combat feels
A minimap would help this a lot. Like the sort of faint outline overlay like Diablo would be perfect.

13:22 Early access with mechanics not yet implemented? What a joy, count me out. I've been burnt too many times, even if the game looks like a decent The Bard's Tale/Champions: Return to Arms reimagining.

reminds me more of Empty Shell and Teleglitch (great games btw) but without guns. With how the levels are set up and with the way screen moves its very similar... however in the few hours I've played this game I can tell its going to have way more substance. Loads of angry fun!

I plan on trying this out when it drops but I can't help but think that this kind of gameplay in an isometric perspective would be better.
16:44 - Typical Splat, completely missing the text at the top of the screen telling him that he was a new type of *starting* character when he was recruited, not a companion for this run.
Oh, I completely missed that as well. IIRC, I registered that something appeared at the top of the screen but didn't actually... read it.
I held out hope that he would see it when he died shortly after, but he Quick restarted instead
I noticed that and I was surprised when he didn't try the new character after his first one died.

Could probably remove torches to create darkness for a more stealth orientated approach. Sick. Defs would play this
Just tried out the demo, very similar to the demo of Spark in the Dark. Can't save, not sure if the full game will be that way; but if it is; that's very unforgiving... to start from scratch each time. My main problem was I wished the potions stack and was on a separate keybind like Q.

Full game will allow you to save and resume at bonfires in the waypoint levels "between" regular dungeon levels. It just hasn't been prioritized before EA release since the demo content is relatively short!
And potions not stacking is VERY much an intentional design decision!

You can relight torches haha
Also other light sources are *not* vulnerable to being extinguished, it's one of the things that makes torches a "worse" light source

Can't do that top down view. It's really not appealing. Seems pretty cool other wise.
I can't stand top down perspectives. No amount of amazing mechanics or qualities will ever make up for that direct overview perspective.
