Tuffy Stone, Heath Riles, Chris Lily, Brad and Brooke from The Shed, Big Moe Cason, Melissa Cookston and cameos from Malcom Reed and Johnny Trigg?!! It’s like the Mount Rushmore of BBQ!! What an amazing event! Thank you for taking the time to film this AWESOME video for us Tuffy!!!
My first contest and it was AWESOME!!! I came up to you and asked for a photo and you were more than happy to take photo with me. Thank you for being so Real and a Good Person!!!
Great overview of Memphis in May and seeing some BBQ Giants. We had a blast at MIM. I was grateful to do the Kamado Joe demo and was bummed I missed your presentation.
Wow MIM seems exciting as hell. I need to go, can’t ever get the time. Good to see Moe place, dude looks like he lost some weight. This was really well produced Tuffy, thanks for bringing the action to me
Hey Tuffy great video, this was my fourth year to get to judge and second time as on site judge. Last year it was on site whole hog and this year RIBS. One of my on site teams "Burnt Fingers" placed 8th and last year one of my on site whole hog teams placed fourth. Wife and I always enjoy the awards and we even made it into this video. We are about 10ft to the right of Big Moe when they called his team on stage for there win in shoulder. Congrads to Kendal Adair and his Smoked and Spiced team for placing 4th in shoulder. 🤩
Wish I could attend one of these one day. Mentioning Blues Hog I think of their blue and red mixed together for that perfect competition rib glaze back in the day…
great video. just found the channel. Used to watch the BBq Pitmaster show all the time. Where was Miron Mixon? I figured he would be at a big event like that one.
I love big Moe Cason. I met him at a bbq contest and we chatted a lot. I got pictures of him with my kids. Nice guy! And he got second in shoulder using a borrowed pellet grill, if my memory serves correct. He was kind of like a guest pitmaster, great times!!
Amateur smokers here from Hudson Valley NY. Hoping to attend one event this year as a "vacation". Would this be the event you would go to or is there another competition/ expo that you could recommend. We've done 2 KCBS comps so far as a team of husband and wife only. 1st one we didn't come in last, 2nd one, out of 66 teams we took 12th in brisket. Then came covid and there went all of our local competitions.
@@TuffyStonePitmaster even mud island could be turned into an excellent place to host MIM but sadly the same people are in charge. Maybe Bass pro will step in. Personally I’d like to see it at a mud island that’s been turned into a festival ground and let west Memphis get in on it as well with events on both sides of the river and a ferry service going in between.
I have so much more respect for the OG cooks out there who did it for the love of the craft. The new generation seems to just be in it for the Instagram likes.
Carol Coletta and Memphis City Council destroyed what was the greatest BBQ event in the world while simultaneously costing the city hundreds of millions of income over future years. 😢
How can you have a World Championship in one country? You have never had lechon in the Philippines or lamb cooked in a tandir in Turkey. Madness to believe you are less than self praising.
Yes of course "World Championships". You don't do it for less in USA. Buddy, it's just a grill event, one if thousands in the US and one of millions worldwide. So keep it low and slow.
@@frankmorris7751 OK. How do you qualify? Can only the champions of their country compete? Are only National Teams allowed? Do you have to go through tryouts etc.. I am from Germany and not familiar with the qualification rules. A world championship, to my understanding is, one national team of each country that qualified in tryout stages to make it to the contest. Not a bunch of BBQ-Enthusiasts paying fee and compete by the way. BUT, there is no doubt, that all these teams are masters of their trade and role models to all of us, who like good BBQ. That's for shure!
@LT75 According to this video, the teams are down to 150. They booted very good teams because they changed the park in a way that couldn't support the 300 plus teams that would normally compete. I'm not sure who decides now, but the last time I entered Exotic Meats Ancillary, there were over 270 entries in that side competition. As far as qualifying? Everyone was invited. Our team of non-pro cookers took two top 5 sauces, a top 10 chicken, and I got 13th in EM. Don't discount the level of competition just because any team can join. The BBQ curcuit is a serious thing in the South, and MIM used to be the best of the best for competition and for one big massive party. My point is MIM will never be the same, and the limited spaces eliminated lots of really good cooks.
Man it's good to see Big Moe up on stage. Awesome video Tuffy. 👍
Don’t ruin in by saying who’s on stage. Some of us haven’t seen it yet. Damn

Ditto! Very fun from the BBQ cooking community!
We were so lucky they all invited us in. It was great to catch up with everyone.
@@TuffyStonePitmaster Myron probably didn't come because he knew Chris Lily was gonna be there! Lol
Tuffy is very humble to say we were lucky to take first place that day. Congratulations living legend!
The quality of the video continues to shine sir.
Really appreciate that.
What an amazing atmosphere!! You can just feel the love & smell the smoke :-)
Great channel Tuffy! Your humility shines through sir! Thank you!

That was really entertaining MR Tuffy. Thank you.

Thank you for documenting this event. Love seeing all the legendary figures
I was hoping you would have a video for this year's MIM. And you delivered. Awesome content. I've been a fan for years, Tuffy!
I am so spoiled and never realized it. I grew up (and my parents still live) about a mile from Big Bob Gibson's BBQ in Decatur, AL.
Wow great report!!!! I have been there last year. Best greetings from germany!!!!

I was there that Friday night, best time there yet, it was amazing.
Looks amazing! Nice Work!
BEEN TO 3 OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GREAT EVENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A great overview of a great event. I miss seeing Tuffy as a Judge on BBQ PItmasters, but I am enjoying these videos now.

Very surprised Malcom Reed wasn’t on this he’s a pure legend
The shed brother looks like the actor from the Greatest American Hero tv show from the 80s.
Thanks Tuffy !
Great video
What camera was the non drone footage shot on? Looks great.
Sony A7siii
Just missing Jacks Old South 😊
Ain't no such thing as luck. Its all God baby. He is soul creator provider sustainer. Great channel 👍
Shout out to Big Moe! That's my guy.
Thank you, Tuffy. Hopefully one of these days we will make it. And congratulations to all the winners. Pork in law barbecue🐷🐷
All my heroes in one place!
Hero hahaha hahaha hahaha I see you didn't serve if you think a cook is a hero

Hi! Who makes the red button up shirt you're wearing with the patches? Nice look for the business!

Mannn who singing that song in the background?
Shame it’s probably not going to be anywhere near the river if in Memphis at all.
Yeah, such a shame they built the new park to be so event unfriendly considering the history of MIM.

Kinda surreal to seeing myself on a Tuffy Stone video considering he was one of the reasons I started competing bbq.
Moe Cason, Tuffy that was so cool
What’s the song in the outro??
The legend

How did Johnny Trigg do at Memphis in May???
Very cool
Yummy, pork skin, pork ribs, some bacon ribs, and pork belly burnt ends

All that mf sauce I swear it's all white boys back in the day it was brother cooking downtown now look
I'd love to see this without the ASMR effect. Otherwise tres kul, dude.
Any international competitors at this “world championship “
Plenty. Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Netherlands. There was a lot.
