I made one that is basically a lever, where the bottom of the lever pulls a spring thats hooked around the left joystick of an xbox controller. This allows variable brake pressure when using the e-brake as opposed to on/off and the resistance of the spring between the lever and controller gives it a slightly longer/more realistic throw. Between the strip steel/L brackets I got from home depot and the 200 pack of springs from harbor freight I spent about 18$ making it.
PlokTheMasterGamer doesn’t the wheel disconnect when you use the Xbox controller? Because you can’t use both at the same time. I don’t want to lose steering just to use the ebrake

very soon I'll have the same setup as you bro. it's coming next week some time already got the wheel stand that arrived yesterday. but the shifter and the wheel coming next Wednesday or Thursday hopefully. maybe I will try and fit the handbrake but I'd prob fuck it up lol

Because the right paddle is sooo much easier to solder. The b bottom would be a pain. But if you can get it to work I would I would love to see the end result man!

matt tinker yeah it was the right paddle shifter. When the solder is facing up, it's the farthest two to the right. There are 3 solder points for it, but make sure to solder the two to the farthest right! Hahs. And make sure you route the wires in a good way.

No that's where I fed the wire though. You connect the wires to the circuit board. Then feed them through the center of the wheel. And 11:00 I'm showing where I fed the wired and drilled the hole for the 2 wires to go though so I could connect them with the ebrake.

Any modification to the wheel may break it, but if you have time, patients and the right items then no it won't break if you take your time. But it's straight forward, I would recommend building the ebrake first to get you pumped to install it, it took me about 6-10 hours to do it. But I took my time, made sure I didn't take shortcuts and made sure the wire from the circuit board to the ebrake was plenty long and wouldn't get caught up on anything. It sounds scary but like I said it's all patients. The only issue I had was my bracket was a tiny bit loose so it was hit and miss for the first hour, then I tightened it down and boom never missed a handbrake entry since:) If you have any more questions feel free to ask!
Nice video dude. Just picked up a g920 with the shift and planning to get the hydro brake mod done. This video is so helpful :). Do you have the photo of the circuit beneath the rubber dome switch for the B button? Could you give me some advises for wiring into that button? since i game on xbox so thats the only chance for my to get the mod done lol.
I ran my wire but all it did was act as the right paddle shifter. I have my wheel hooked up to my computer right now to change the right paddle but I can't figure out how to change it to handbrake. I've only had the wheel about a week please help!
Okay on the setting for assetto corsa you want to change the ebrake switch to the right paddle. Look at all the settings when doing so. Because there is 2 ebrake locations in the setting I believe.

To my knowledge no. The best bet would be to follow the tutorial. Your basically making the right paddle shifter contact not only for the shifter. But also for the button you use on the hand brake.
What if you dont have a solder iron then what do you do. And its not easy because you void your warranty. Some one please make a handbrake that you plug into your xbox with the wheel and it will work
im using xbox one on assetto corsa ebrake is x button on forza horizon 3 its b button or right paddle ... could i solder onto x button ... if i solder to right paddle button can i shift still with the right paddle ...
+Kye Joiner i soldered ~6feet of 24 awg to the circutboard, feed it out the hole i made in the rear of the wheel. then with the button wire and the circuit board wire i just crimped connectors on them, so i can plug and play.

You can do it yourself haha, it's not a hard mod to do at all. It just takes patients. If you rush it leads to mistakes. But if you do it and have questions I can answer them for you fast!
Hey Wetfingers/anyone else reading, do your G920's make a funny clacking sound when turned fast in a countersteer? With mine, if I turn it hard to the right to countersteer a drift going around a right-hand turn, it makes a 'clack clack clack' noise. Anyone else get that?
Yeah some times I get that, it comes and goes. It's been happening ever since I got it I think. But mines super quite and didn't really notice it until I was playing without and volume.
+EQUALISE its honestly not that hard. 1: you remove the 5 or 6 Allen key bolts in the front. then there are little screw in the back of the wheel you take those out. 2: then you just take out the circuit board carefully. solder 2 wires on the paddle shiftier. 3: take apart the rest of the wheel and drill a small hole in the back and feed the circuit board wires through all the pieces first then through the whole (i made the mistake of going straight to the hole and when i went to put the other pieces in i couldn't feed the wires through xD 4: put it all back and thats the electrical stuff and its super easy as long as you take your time and dont rush it.

ilZahn I wouldn't solder it to the xbutton. I would do the right handbrake. And it's the farthest two solder points to the right. And make the wiring go around where the half circle is so it will connect nicely.
ilZahn really?!? That's so messed up haha. If I were you I would take it to a tv repair shop or something and see if they can do something to solder it. I wouldn't recommend you soldering it. I don't want you to screw it up man. Worst case is right bumper. I don't use my handbrake anymore on asseto corsa and it's a lot better imo. And you can still use the handbrake for forza and stuff :)
+Ged Robertson why a potentiometer? It's just a momentary switch, but it should be similar. I don't think Logitech would use different switches between the two.
+Google User it would be more trick with the buttons because of how the button is laid into the circuit board. Idk what the soft mods are, but I find the paddle shifter to be the most effective route.
+Gabriel Harris yeah I think it might be possible if they make an adapter. But on assetto corsa and games like that I only use the y button to switch the camera. But for a PC it would be fine, if you only play on Xbox I wouldn't do it.
In horizon 3 yes but assetto no only X button could i just solder onto both and instead of 1 wire coming out of base there would be 2 and only join them with a joiner connector to handbrake switch as needed

Inside of your wheel. It's the motherboard that has the paddle shifters, and buttons for the wheel. Just solder the handbrake wires to the right paddle switch.
+tman229 hmmmm you can use the b button I'm sure. But the solder points are tiny and I don't know what points to solder. But on the switches they have serial numbers. So you can look them up and get like a "parts break down" that will have a wiring diagram I believe.
+tman229 it is a momentary push switch for the b button. But the only way to know if you can do it, is if you take the wheel apart and look. Or buy a new shifter and use the paddle. Which I recommend.
I'm 99.9999999 % sure it will. You just solder in the panel shifter and the g29 has one. It might just look a little different on the circuit board and taking the wheel apart. But yeah it's 99.9999 gonna work. I just don't wanna say 100 haha

-3: helical nuts m8x1.25 -1: 6-8 inch bolt m8x1.25 -3: 1- 1 1/2 inch washers (try and get the same inside diameter as the bolt) -1: 2 - 2 1/2 inch washer for the rear. -1 acorn nut m8x1.25 -22 - 24 gauge awg wire spool (you need about 6 feet to be safe, you probably only use 3 but just to be safe.) -spring or you can use the one in the ebrake -mounting bracket i used thin air ducting (i cut out 4 square pieces, like the video shows) -electrical tape -spst momentary switch, make sure to check the pressure of the switch and the distance traveled. (you want a switch with a short distance to travel, and a switch that is easy to push) everything might be a little different, this is just what i used. but it should be a good foundation :)
Like I said in the video if you want it "progressive" you can use a variable resistor switch. Aka a potentiometer switch. But idk what ohm you would use.

Put some kind of putty/expoxy and then heat shrink over the thread on the bolt. That should stop most of the noise completely.

while removing my switch those metal rings came out now it won't make contact. should i have left the switch in there? thanks for the video

+Robbie Waters once you remove the price that holds the buttons, they will fall out only if you hold it upside down, mine never fell out.

Hayden Adkins it's not the same, I did that but quickly ditched it. It works for some people but it just makes the game more immersive:D

Turned out the wires that were soldered to rb were touching, just separated them and works perfect.

Is there a way to add a custom wheel to it? Or add Paddle Extensions? One thing that seems really cool would be having a working Dashboard.

Where am I suppose to get that circuit board?
Inside of your wheel. It's the motherboard that has the paddle shifters, and buttons for the wheel. Just solder the handbrake wires to the right paddle switch.
then i'm screwed because I don't have that shifter anymore.
+tman229 hmmmm you can use the b button I'm sure. But the solder points are tiny and I don't know what points to solder. But on the switches they have serial numbers. So you can look them up and get like a "parts break down" that will have a wiring diagram I believe.
Would it be possible to use a push switch as a replacement or something?
+tman229 it is a momentary push switch for the b button. But the only way to know if you can do it, is if you take the wheel apart and look. Or buy a new shifter and use the paddle. Which I recommend.

I'm 99.9999999 % sure it will. You just solder in the panel shifter and the g29 has one. It might just look a little different on the circuit board and taking the wheel apart. But yeah it's 99.9999 gonna work.

Where did you solder the wires on the board to the forza?
Does this work for forza 6 where the handbrake button is b on the wheel? If not which button does this take over?

-3: helical nuts m8x1.25
-1: 6-8 inch bolt m8x1.25
-3: 1- 1 1/2 inch washers (try and get the same inside diameter as the bolt)
-1: 2 - 2 1/2 inch washer for the rear.
-1 acorn nut m8x1.25
-22 - 24 gauge awg wire spool (you need about 6 feet to be safe, you probably only use 3 but just to be safe.)
-spring or you can use the one in the ebrake
-mounting bracket i used thin air ducting (i cut out 4 square pieces, like the video shows)
-electrical tape
-spst momentary switch, make sure to check the pressure of the switch and the distance traveled.
(you want a switch with a short distance to travel, and a switch that is easy to push)
everything might be a little different, this is just what i used. but it should be a good foundation :)

Like I said in the video if you want it "progressive" you can use a variable resistor switch. Aka a potentiometer switch. But idk what ohm you would use.
