I recently downloaded Episodes again making a new account and I remembered why I gave up 4 years ago you literally have to unlock community stories now and I dont want to play the official crap from episodes cause it sucks.

Since Episode is 13+, they have to submit to app stores guidelines for what content they leave on the app, and the 13+ ones can get pretty strict. Episode isn't strict on their guidelines because they care, it's strict because if they aren't they could get removed from an app store. If they bumped up the minimum age they could get away with more, but then they wouldn't get that sweet young teen money from gem choices. Also, inappropriate ads are just common in general. I'm guessing it has something to do with the service you use to pick and showcase ads, that may be a cheaper one so easier for the strangest apps to buy ad time there? There's also just this strangely common thing, even on youtube, where things meant for kids have inappropriate ads or advertise themselves inappropriately
I remember watching The Skorys gaming channel, because I used to enjoy watching Gabriella play the episode stories, her reactions were pretty fun, and she never used gems.

I would 100% recommend checking out Wincy's stories on Romance Club! As someone who played since its creation in 2018, I couldn't have been happier with the quality of stories. The current story she's writing "Soulless" is just 🌟phenomenal🌟, and all of the LIs are to-die-for. "Hearts of Trespia" also garnered a lot of fanfare, so RC players would agree with you on Wincy's writing skill.
This!! I haven’t gotten around to Wincy’s work yet since I’m a new fan of the app, but the developers are insanely generous with players - frequent limited time events which mean you don’t actually have to buy diamonds to play the favourable options. Highly recommend :))

I've only seen Episode stories on RUclips and I was well over 18 the first time. But, nothing I've seen is worse than a TV-14 show. The stuff kids do in middle school these days, I think Episode is the least bad influence out there. Please make more of these. My Sister's Crush is my favorite. The author Melissa Lavone has been going through a rough time, but plans to start up again
My youtuber of choice was Ali fitz because she felt like a normal person playing a game and not a youtuber making content she would get upset at the characters like I would man that was a fun era

I was in high school during the pregnancy era and I was like can these authors chill the people playing this are children and the pregnacy by a killer one is the one I came across, alongside pregnant by a nerd.All these toxic relationship we were all exposed to but some of these stories were really good and actually didnt romancitize awful people.

Hi, someone who would always pick Cletus in Ruby Tiara here. When I first play Ruby tiara, I pick Cletus just to be extra petty to Mara. I wasn’t content with stealing her queen position, I wanted to steal her man as well. I will say this, he does in my opinion get better over the course of the story. If you do another deep dive. I recommend checking out Folk Devils and The Thick as Thieves series. Thoth feel like they could have been tv series. There’s also a author who’s name I forget who’s written stories like” Loose Lips and In the Wrong” which feel like YA novels

Love this video! I've been playing episode for years so I enjoy these videos. An obscure thing I remember was when episode put out an official story called ...in my bed in 2018. I remember a lot of people were mad about it because it was a story that very clearly went against episode's own guidelines. They were being very hypocritical about not letting their authors do the same thing. The story got removed quickly and was then revamped into My First Everything. I think screen recordings of the original story are still available online, but I remember feeling uncomfortable reading it when I was younger.
Joriemar is iconic. She set the whole community on fire without saying a single word 😂😂😂 she actually never responded to those claims other than in act 2 of Home wrecker. She’s notorious for being silent/non-engaging on social media. Her comments about Rubi being an inspiration were made way back when homewrecker first dropped.

I played all available stories and spin offs of campus crush since I had the game when it was first released and the plot went downhill real quick, I don't remember there being an actual conclusion to this story and I was so disappointed with the way it was abandoned :( I also remember a version of Pride and Prejudice which was officially made by episode in the classic version and it actually had good writing, it could have been more popular on the app but was abandoned as well

I remember I started playing episode when the Demi Lovato story came out and at that time ink was still new, so most of the stories were in the classic style. And I remember reading a crazy story called “party girls” and I vaguely remember the plot, but the best friends (maybe they were sisters??) would constantly drink and do drugs as teenagers. So at one point one of the main characters went to rehab because her parents found out… it was wild, but it was clearly meant to be ridiculous. I think a part 2 came out and it was in the ink style, but it didn’t have the same chaotic energy as the clunky classic style. I stopped playing episode in 2017, but that story always makes me think back fondly of the app.
I remember slightly that Episode to have an a record feature, where you record the story you were playing and even give it access to your mic- (also I surprised you never mention Episode VIP)

It was a breath of fresh air with the glorification and kinda fetishizing of gang leaders..... Which is hilarious because at the same time I loved Blake. I have been back and forth with Episode since the very beginning, so I’ve seen the changes and taken them in stride. I finally gave up on it when I got fed up with a HP community story (can’t exactly recall why, just that it was the last thing I read). It sucks that these were basically unplayable.
Campus Crush was my first Episode story, I have so much nostalgia tied to it! Also, Home Wrecker was definitely plagiarized, but it was still a good read. I was hooked when I first read it.

if you ever consider doing another deep dive or even a mini dive, I would love to see you talk about the massive influx of dating show/reality tv show themed stories flooding the app! it seems a bit on the nose but the big boom eras of reality television in real life were in response to writers striking and studios punishing them by finding low effort high viewcount content to replace their shows with... and the big influx of ripoff bachelor/bachelorette/love island stories on episode feels like it! granted this sort of thing was also popular in the past before too, when people did stories about music shows based on got talent/masked singer etc, but episode really strongly promoted stories like 'Don't Hate The Player', 'Bachelor Undercover', 'The Billionaire Bachelors', and 'Love on Fire'... those were all recommended to me when I redownloaded the app earlier this year after a few years of disuse

Honestly, with the episode official stories, I'd just go through without clicking any gem choices until I could get to the rest of the non Episode official stories. lol. That way I didn't have to spend a bunch of money or gems.
Since watching your vids I have found my old Episode account and dang you were right about stories being taken down. It says on my account (that is 8 years old o-o) that I have read 48 Complete Stories. When I look through the 'Stories I've Read' section though there's 33 results? With 5 listed as "This Story is No Longer Available" so that means that 20 aren't there anymore. That's a huge number!

But then, when you said it's only available in INK, I went back and checked my progress, and it was all in INK??? I quit reading, after the second season started with a gender reveal plotline (I, really hate gender reveals) - Another story, that might be Official. Was a, soul hunter... Thing? Idk man, it's been years. I just remember not being able to take it seriously. 'Cause, it was a fucking Episode story - There's another one, where you were like an intern or something. At, a fashion studio? And you were colourblind - A fan made one I remember reading, had you get taking to a psychiatric hospital. If you do another deep dive. I recommend checking out Folk Devils and The Thick as Thieves series. Thoth feel like they could have been tv series. There’s also a author who’s name I forget who’s written stories like” Loose Lips and In the Wrong” which feel like YA novels

Love this video! I've been playing episode for years so I enjoy these videos. An obscure thing I remember was when episode put out an official story called ...in my bed in 2018. I remember a lot of people were mad about it because it was a story that very clearly went against episode's own guidelines. They were being very hypocritical about not letting their authors do the same thing. The story got removed quickly and was then revamped into My First Everything. I think screen recordings of the original story are still available online, but I remember feeling uncomfortable reading it when I was younger.
Joriemar is iconic. She set the whole community on fire without saying a single word 😂😂😂 she actually never responded to those claims other than in act 2 of Home wrecker. She’s notorious for being silent/non-engaging on social media. Her comments about Rubi being an inspiration were made way back when homewrecker first dropped.

I played all available stories and spin offs of campus crush since I had the game when it was first released and the plot went downhill real quick, I don't remember there being an actual conclusion to this story and I was so disappointed with the way it was abandoned :(
I also remember a version of Pride and Prejudice which was officially made by episode in the classic version and it actually had good writing, it could have been more popular on the app but was abandoned as well

I remember I started playing episode when the Demi Lovato story came out and at that time ink was still new, so most of the stories were in the classic style. And I remember reading a crazy story called “party girls” and I vaguely remember the plot, but the best friends (maybe they were sisters??) would constantly drink and do drugs as teenagers. So at one point one of the main characters went to rehab because her parents found out… it was wild, but it was clearly meant to be ridiculous. I think a part 2 came out and it was in the ink style, but it didn’t have the same chaotic energy as the clunky classic style. I stopped playing episode in 2017, but that story always makes me think back fondly of the app.

It was a breath of fresh air with the glorification and kinda fetishizing of gang leaders..... Which is hilarious because at the same time I loved Blake. I guess it's really just a thing of understanding what the truth is verses fiction. Being aware of what your consuming is always important.

I have been back and forth with Episode since the very beginning, so I’ve seen the changes and taken them in stride.
I finally gave up on it when I got fed up with a HP community story (can’t exactly recall why, just that it was the last thing I read). It sucks that these were basically unplayable.
Campus Crush was my first Episode story, I have so much nostalgia tied to it! Also, Home Wrecker was definitely plagiarized, but it was still a good read. I was hooked when I first read it.

if you ever consider doing another deep dive or even a mini dive, I would love to see you talk about the massive influx of dating show/reality tv show themed stories flooding the app! it seems a bit on the nose but the big boom eras of reality television in real life were in response to writers striking and studios punishing them by finding low effort high viewcount content to replace their shows with... and the big influx of ripoff bachelor/bachelorette/love island stories on episode feels like it! granted this sort of thing was also popular in the past before too, when people did stories about music shows based on got talent/masked singer etc, but episode really strongly promoted stories like 'Don't Hate The Player', 'Bachelor Undercover', 'The Billionaire Bachelors', and 'Love on Fire'... those were all recommended to me when I redownloaded the app earlier this year after a few years of disuse

Honestly, with the episode official stories, I'd just go through without clicking any gem choices until I could get to the rest of the non Episode official stories. lol. That way I didn't have to spend a bunch of money or gems.
Shutting down the forum was the worst decision Episode has ever made. The forum was home to us and it was so helpful. Discord just isn’t the same.
Since watching your vids I have found my old Episode account and dang you were right about stories being taken down. It says on my account (that is 8 years old o-o) that I have read 48 Complete Stories. When I look through the 'Stories I've Read' section though there's 33 results? With 5 listed as "This Story is No Longer Available" so that means that 20 aren't there anymore. That's a huge number!
