- Unforgiving terrain, high altitude, and one shot to get it done. One wrong decision means you come home empty handed, and one wrong step means you aren’t coming home.
Trek alongside HuntWise ambassador, Joe Griffin, as he goes to the edge of the world-up to The Peak-in pursuit of Alaskan Dall sheep.
Nothing was given on this hunt. Everything was earned.
Dall sheep are the northernmost wild sheep in the world, spending most of their lives on the jagged slopes of mountains. Their horns take up to 8 years to grow and are composed of keratin, the same material as our fingernails.
In the hunting world, Dall sheep are known as the most majestic mountain animals on this planet. To embark on a sheep hunt is one of the most remote, backpack-style hunts a person can do. At times, you are truly a prisoner to the mountains. It's a test of the body and mind like no other.
One of the biggest challenges hunters face is sheep's keen eyesight, which has adapted to the harsh, open terrain in which they reside.

The emotion at 22:30 is the best feeling in the world and considering that it is on video will be something you will be able to relive including the goose bumps and tears for the rest of your days! GREAT HUNT ! Way to go, congrats ! what caliber rifle did you use ? I’m going next year and I could bring 300 RUM or 6.5. I can shoot both very well and the 6.5 is a lighter rig …..
for Sheep would go with the lighter 6.5. They are not massive or super tough animals and u will appreciate the weight savings
