- Chasing bighorn sheep in the hopes of one day holding your slam ram is a dream for many hunters but only realized by the fortunate few. Follow Joe as he pursues a band of 20+ rams in the high country of Wyoming.

Walking sweating and bleeding it’s not a problem. The problem is to come up with the $80,000 for the hunt.
What is the cost for such a hunt? My understanding is only the wealthy can afford sheep and mountain goat hunts.
They can be anywhere from 5k-25k depending on the outfit and region you hunt them in. Mexico has some cheap hunts as far as bighorns go. There’s also Barbary sheep and aoudad hunts in west Texas to cali that go anywhere from 3.5k to 10k.
In the states you need to win a tag for a lottery for bighorn and mountain goats as well
Long story short yeah they’re expensive and most people aren’t going to spend 10% to 50% of their annual income on it.

How does one just decide four years ago to become a sheep hunter and now already has the grand slam completed?
Helps having money and paying outfitters I guess.

Not sure, but I think I hauled a trailer and truck in for you probably 18 years ago not 100%. If it was you I did it for a guy that did sheep hunting. His or your wife came to the D and R branch and ask for some help which was across from Lee Livingston. Don’t know if this was you but if it is, it’s good to see you doing well. Your going to laugh like hell when you read this I operated a trail ride for many years tell your clients best way to prevent saddle soars and stiffness wear a pair of panty hose under you jeans ya go ahead laugh take it from this old timer it works have a great and safe hunt

I can’t believe your not hobbling those horses. If that would have been our herd we’d be chasing them back to the trailhead in an hour from letting them loose.
