I first watched the globe trotters back in the 70's on ABC Wide World of Sports. They had cartoons, they were special guests for different sitcoms, and they were in commercials.
@@TheRealMindCrime I asked my 90 year old mom if she ever took me and said no. Asked Wifey and we took the girls in the late 90s. They came to Chicago every year.
Saw them in 1969...Sacramento Ca... Memorial Auditorium I was 11 and amazed! I won the ticket by getting 3 new customers on my paper route...for the Sacramento Union..
Bit late on this video cos' of new years stuff. I was very, very fortunate to watch them live once. Somewhere around like 93-95, I was maybe 10yrs old. I still remember precise moments from that show like it was only yesterday. The sliding dribbles, the weaves, the alley oops, Sam "betraying" the Trotters and playing point guard for our local team to give us a chance. The halftime show where they invited kids to the court, I was one of those kids and played a passing game with Curly, where he would juggle the ball and make trick passes to the kids. Whomever drops the ball is out. I was fortunately to stay in till the end where Curly pretends to drop a kid's toss and had to go out. They were giving out T shirts and basketballs to random kids. I didn't get anything, but simply being there on the court is a memory burned into my mind till this day. I'm 42 now. Good times man.
The first time that I had seen the globetrotters was back in 1980~1981 when I was in kindergarten or first grade. They played a team called the Scorpions. They had been up the night before their game being chased by ghosts with Scooby and the gang, were dog tired but still won. 😛
I think its just the Washington Basketball Team now LOL. NGL my only knowledge of the Harlem Globetrotters is of them being in the new Scooby-Doo Movies cartoon when I was a kid haha. This was a fun video man
@TheRealMindCrime I can only speak on what I saw, but we used to catch the train to Greenwich village and Rucker park in Harlem to see it in the summer. Saw Kobe. It was dope
When I was in college at Illinois in the early ‘00s - I vaguely remember the men’s team playing the Globetrotters in an exhibition game. I cannot find any evidence for this - I don’t know if I was high or if was something that actually happened
Not sure if this'll come through or get deleted, but here's a great longer Globetrotters video to react to🏀👍 ruclips.net/video/nsDfsdbbkJc/видео.htmlsi=UO4ft5pGw9WodCYi
I won a basketball during halftime shooting free throws for my brother and I... then waited in a long ass line to get 2 autographs only lol Scam!!! It was early 90s I was like 11 or 12 The real question is, who was there when the Generals actually won.... yes they have won a few games. And do the weave on new years eve lol
Fun fact: Wilt Chamberlain joined the Harlem Globetrotter in their three-and-a-half-month European tour in 1958.
Crazy. I'd love to see that
Okay at 8:24 he says Generals. In the right dimension 😂
I saw them live in Memphis back in '92. I've been to several NBA games, but that was something else.😆
