- Anna Russell analyzes Verdi's "Nabucco," from a 1973 concert at the newly-opened Sydney Opera House. The first part of the talk is on the new opera house and on opera in general. This is one of her lesser-known opera talks, but it is very funny (especially if you know "Nabucco").
She was truly stunning and uniquely gifted! Bless her for that witty spirit (and music knowledge, one should not forget that too). After all ... Dame Anna had been the reigning primadonna of the ... Ellis Island Opera !
I saw Nabucco on the Live in HD performance last Saturday. This is spot-on analysis.
I saw her do Nabucco in Palm Springs. And I saw Lily Pons walking down the aisle. So tiny, even in very high heels.
Terrific! I always wished she had done more operas
ECUMENOMENISM - oh my lol - she is tremendous
Thanks for posting!
Does anyone know where to get hold of her excellent synopsis of the 'opera' Hamlet? Heard it on the radio once, but nowhere on the internet.
I know it's a long time since you asked, but it is on RUclips. Just search "Hamletto, or Prosciuttino"
Thank you I'll have alook
You're welcome!
