  • We love hiking, camping, fishing, and everything to do with the outdoors. Historical trips are no exception! This quick trip to the NADA tunnel in Stanton, Kentucky, is an amazing view. Winding through the Red River Gorge is a great Sunday trip, especially in the fall or winter. Constructed through the mountain to transport by railroad natural resources such as lumber. Started in December 1910 and finished in September 1911. This tunnel is just wide enough to fit a standard pickup truck through.

It takes about a minute to drive from one end to the other and only one vehicle gets thru at a time. We've gone thru on our bike at different times when in the area. Hubby loved the sound of our crackling loud pipes rumbling thru there! One end has a small spring on the left side you can stop and cool off at if there's only one or two of you (not much room to park)
