This reminded of when my work pants accidentally were bleached in the wash. I still wore them to my job and a customer asked me if I had bought them like that. I said "no", and then told her that technically we weren't allowed to wear stained clothing and she replied "just tell them it's the style". Ha ha ha.
That was a huge deal in the late 90s and early 00s. My mom and all her friends did that and I remember everyone having bleached jeans. *nightmarish flashback intensifies*
@@kristyoblen7004 Oh that too. But this is also the exact same how they did pants back then. They put tape, stickers and knots on jeans and tossed them in bleach or pored / splashed bleach on them. I thought the dark ages of bleached jeans was over, but here we are again. We truly never learn from history, thus we repeat our greatest mistakes and most horrendous acts over and over again.

Yes! I did this in high school. I got bleach on my favorite green t-shirt. I refused to throw it away so I sprinkled bleach all over it. It was even better than before! Love the overalls!!!
When videos fly past my feed, but I recognize the voice and have to go back. Lovely to have a face to go with it! Enjoy your cake stuff...inspiring me out here in Montana, USA.
I did this to jean pants and jacket 30 years ago, and walking down Yonge street in Toronto, I was stopped every few steps with people asking where I got that outfit. One of my happiest days ever! …… and now my teenage son is almost big enough to wear the same outfit which I have been saving for him!
This looks so cool! I have a bunch of jeans from when I (briefly) worked in manufacturing that I don't wear much anymore, kinda tempted to do this with them
Looks great! Do be careful with bleach even on denim, it can weaken the fabric. I did it once to a button up and it lasted awhile, but the bleached cat print I had ripped when it wouldn't have if it wasn't bleached
I love this.. I worked at a hospital an brought home these big syringes that are used to clean tubes out for new medications there's no needle it's just a long plastic tube of different sizes so I brought three sizes home put bleach in it and I had a silk shirt that had just drops of bleach on it well it looks so cool when I was done it's addicting bleach and stuff I love it
So much cuter! Way to go! Love DYI when something is a great piece of clothing with just a bit of a cosmetic issue. It's like a makeup emergency for cloths.
been bleaching jeans since the 1970s. turns put better if you dip the jeans in a bleach water basin. the folds in the fabric make interesting patterns not found on sprayed or dripped. you can rubber band sections and make tie dye like patterns too. make sure your work space is well ventilated. I prefer dip bleaching boot cut jeans below the knee, the effect makes this short girl look taller and the compliments are nice too.
Bleaching shirts is so fun. Just wait till you look into all the different ways you can tie dye. Check out ice dye. Your clothing will come out just as creative as your beautiful cakes ❤
try thiox especially on black. Color removers in laundry isle at grocery store can be really cool to and a couple brands main ingredient is thiox itself. sometimes a lil heat can make all the difference too!
I accidentally found out the Milton (a brand of disinfectant you use for baby bottle and cleaning as well and is known for not having to rinse the bottle after use of Milton) is great for bleach tie dye, I had sprayed the inside of my washing machine to give it a wee clean and because baby brain is forever!!! I forgot I’d done thins chucked in a couple of my some knits 🧶 and out they came looking rad actually, super cool affect and would look great on denim. 🌈☺️🙏🏻
Popular in the early 1960s, my brother did this to a sweatshirt and I wore it until it literally fell apart from fabric fatigue. Bleach will continue "eating" the fabric; but, I loved that sweatshirt for years!
You have to deactivate that bleach with peroxide. It will continue to eat away at the material even after washing. Throw them in a bucket with 1to1 peroxide & water and let it sit for about 15mins. You will get holes in your adorable overalls if you don't!
Yeah I did this in the late sixties early '70s with my jeans but I did notice the material started to deteriorate after a while. So it looks good while it does but your material will start to rip away
Looks great but here's a great idea. How amazing would it be if you dyed them a light pink afterwards. And the bleach stains were pink! Please try this and show us the results.
They look great! Is it safe to handwash something that's just been bleached? Just wondering if I could cut down water use by washing in a bucket rather than 2x machine.
In high school I ruined one of my fave shirts with bleach(accident) but then fixed it when I decided to go all the way(couldn't wear it anymore anyway) and used my mom's bleach spray cleaner on the whole shirt. It looked so cool.
You can avoid the bleach eating the fabric over time by treating them using a hydrogen peroxide solution because you're right it can eat through fabric but I haven't had problems after the hydrogen bath
it did turn out really nice but from my experience the area the bleach went one tends to thin out after some time weakening the fabric. just be careful with it though

That's great until the bleach starts eating your jeans after a short time
But it's not stained 😆 quite the opposite
those are wicked! I can't believe I haven't thought to do this with my "daggy" jeans, thank you for the inspiration gorgeous💕✨
Just be careful. Don't use straight. The white parts of mine turned gummy and fell apart.

We did this in the late 80s early 90s wow my mom was right everything comes back in style like ripped jeans
You should try leaves as stencils! I got a pretty cool fern on a black dress by putting the leaf on the dress and spraying it with a bleach/water mix
love this!! now I'm thinking of bleaching stuff.
Idk.. I would be self conscious thinking what if others laugh at me and think it looks like I got jazzed on at an orgy 😅

It usually eats holes all the way thru that's why the bottle doesn't say suitable for fabric
I didn’t have any issues! They seem fine. Bleach was only on them for about 20-30 mins and then washed straight away 🤷🏼♀️
