Just picked up the DJI Mini 4 Pro w/ RC2. Had a blast flying it today and just blown away with the controller. First drone bought and probably a little over kill.
Absolutely no! 700 nits is not good enough! You sound like used car salesman for DJI. Antennas night and day difference? Absolutely no! Have googles with external antennas and they don't perform any better than DJI RC w/o antennas. Jeez! Dude! A bit of honesty please.

Thanks for this , I’ve seen a few comments saying this isn’t true but when you actually experience it the signal difference is so much better! I thought it was just external antennas but… it is bonkers! 😂
But I sure hope the DJI RC Pro can get a firmware update to be able to fly the Air 3. We all paid too much for that controller believing it would be our goto with all our fleet.. I know tech evolves but for the amount we paid it should not be outdated in two years. I won't buy the Air 3 unless it works with the RC Pro. I'll just get a back-up Mavic 3 model. #justsaying
Thanks for the video Darren. Honestly, I don't understand DJI's business model. They put out an upgraded product but it is compatible with ONE drone line. Right now, it is compatible literally with ONE drone. I hope they change that philosophy and start putting out products that are compatible with, if not all, most of the models out there. I was already ticked off tha tthe DJI-RC was not compatible with the Mini 2. Now they put out the RC2 and it is not even compatible with the drones that they just released a couple months ago! Sorry, I'm very dissapointed with DJI. However, your video was great and it answered some of the questions I had about the RC2. Cheers
Too be fair mini 2 was previous Gen..... even the old smart controller was compat with it At least Rc and RC pro got on the air 2s before that became dated

What about screen brightness? Can you customise it? In very bright weather conditions you can adjust brightness on your phone so you can see better? Can you do this on the controller?
Oh look new controller better promoted and throw away the old one. am I the only one here who thinks the RC N1 is perfectly fine? Get a good phone or tablet and never worry about whatever problems the new ones have
Hi Darren, I'm asking myself what is this new contoller for as the Air3 comes with it already!? You can buy this controller only but for which drones then? As in my case looking for an improvement of the signal RC to Mini3pro the RC2 is not a solution. Or do you see more drones will be supported by the RC2 later with software updates? this controller suffers from the same major shortcoming of the DJI RC, no support for software needed for photogrammetry. Photogrammetry is a feature that was recently introduced but not available if you have either of the RC controllers. This is never mentioned but a major downside!
The fact that this remote exists, and that the Mavic3 is already almost 2 years old (November 21) along with the RC Pro leads me to believe that a refresh of both is only a year away. An RC Pro 2, perhaps a slightly bigger screen in same size body, lighter, occusync 4, more memory, perhaps thinner, newer processor, one can only dream about potential Mavic 4 camera set up, but APS-C ? what about a true telephoto lens, 1" sensor with an optical range from 3-7X could such a unit be possible?
I’d have your wish list! I do think we’ll see a rc pro 2 at some point, 1000nits minimum, lighter , apps, hdmi, external antennas, ocusync 4 yea bring it on

Very informative… was hooked on getting one, but…however … as a DJI mini owner it’s very disappointing to hear at the end that its no good to any other drone other than the air 3! Maybe in the future…..😢
I ve had the spark, air2, air2s and now to mini 3 pro "due to the coming 2024 eu laws" anyway i have a Samsung galaxy s21 ultra well over 1000 nits in high summer never overheats and I like the live maps. Yes the controller is easier to power up and one less thing to carry "but its 2023 and everybody always has there phone on them" lovely controller but could not justify the expense for something i only use when flying i would rather put the money towards a higher drone . Ya for the professional yes but for the hobbyist who only flies every few weeks id say keep your money and invest in a stronger drone!
So does the antenna increase the drone range? For example the mini 3 pro is "8km" (I'm too scared to go more than 0.5-1km away and risk losing my drone and all that money, so I'm just going on written specs). Does the antennas increase this to, say, 15km? Or do they just lower the likelihood of dropped signals? Also, I put an SD in my drone (where the video and images are stored) and also in my RC. Does it just switch to storing in the RC once drone SD is full? Wondering if I need the two.

Yet another great video. Love the smoke😂 having upgraded from the mini 2 i love this drone. Ive now bought the Dji 100w charger so charging is now brilliant. I normally take out the SD card and transfer files directly to my iPad photos but it doesn’t seem to work now. Any ideas??
Yes this needs a firmware update , I noticed the same, if you connect the dongle to the iPad , go to the files app and then select the sd drive you can view all the files and save to camera roll.
I prefer the RCN2 remote control using a phone with a brighter and larger screen. It is easier to use a sunshade for the phone when using the RC N2. When the RC2 screen brightness is disappointing for me.
I really like the new controller. Especially the fast booting and start. The only thing I have to get used to, is the noticibly higher battery consumption! For the first time in my life I got a battery warning for a controller. Don't transfer your battery experiences of the old controller to the new one 😁
I've found now that plugging the controller into a charging bank while changing drone batteries really helps to boost the battery very quickly, the Anker powerbanks are amazing.

I would really like to get the Air 3 drone but I won't buy it not until I Know the controller is compatible with the other DJI drones. I have the RC Controller and I have the RC Pro controller I got the RC Pro controller for my Mini 3 Pro because I got a better signal strength and further distance with my Mini 3 Pro than I did with RC controller.🙂 Great Review Darren🙂
Just bought my new dji air 3 with rc n2 controler, seems signal very weak, i fly 87meter high distance 25meter signal drop then lost then reconnect but only 2 bar 😢any suggestions?

Transmission performance on RC-2 / Air 3 is notably better, I don't see the 5.1ghz band on transmission tab just 2.4/5.8 - DJI Says its country dependent as always. When I finally lose connection, VIDEO drops before CMD/CTRL. Weird... and scary! I thought the Aircraft was heading back, but it was just stopped. Hovering. With no video. When I stopped being stupid, i just used the compass to fly back. I need to know more on the 5.1 Ghz band usage. (5.170-5.250 GHz)
1:10 700 nits max is actually more than something like the steamdeck (300 more) or the ROG (200 more)ally handheld computer gaming system thingy. Very Respectable.
Have you tried using a steam deck outside? 😂 Every time I watch these videos I wonder how people can stand in the sun and actually see what they're doing. It's beyond me why DJI can't make it as bright as my phone - that I can see in strong sunlight. And don't even get me started on if I've forgotten to change glasses and I'm wearing prescription sunglasses.

I'm kind of brand new to drones although I had an AR Parrot when they first came out about 13 years ago but was so disappointed with its camera capability, then ordered a 3D printed go pro mount for it from ebay but it was terrible and never flew right again. Then a couple of years ago had a DJI look alike but again it's camera was terrible so only a couple of days ago after watching as many youtube videos as I can and many of them being yours, I finally bought a DJI mini 3 pro and it is everything I could have hoped for camera wise. Your video's have been extremely helpful is I've just hit the subscribe button now to keep up to date with your videos. Thanks for your time and effort mate, it's greatly appreciated.
I have a mavic 3 which for the price I paid I would expect the rc 2 controller to be compatible since it’s much faster with and extra 2 antenna’s the rc 1 can be tuff to work with at times…
as the bad experience i had on rc1, i wont buy any controller with screen again, just use an old phone and you have a better screen, cellular signal and a backup phone while you traveling
When i used mini 2 with rc n there always notification to log in and very annoying in remote place where there no internet signal. Is this same as with rc2 and have to log in cause as far i know there no internet conection on rc or same as to have log in with wifi thanks
I'm having issues with recording audio on my RC2. I'm using the exact wireless mic I use for my RC1, but it doesn't connect. I'm forced to use my Rode wireless to screen record. Also, every time I screen record, eject my SD card for transfer, there are no files. I've formatted the card, switched to SD storage. Help.

I would upgrade my RC if RC 2 was backwards compatible with Mini 3 Pro AND increased signal performance.

It maxes out automatically, good thing it doesn’t overheat or dim. You can also buy some screen shades too

Kind of not interested right now, i have a fleet of Mavic 3 Pro, air 2s, and mini3 pro, and i use the RC pro on all of the above..

Yes I think it’s the new internal fan that’s using more battery life, you definitely have to charge more

Probably because it has a built in cooling fan. Mine barely lasts 3 hrs.

I have a mavic 3 which for the price I paid I would expect the rc 2 controller to be compatible since it’s much faster with and extra 2 antenna’s the rc 1 can be tuff to work with at times…

as the bad experience i had on rc1, i wont buy any controller with screen again, just use an old phone and you have a better screen, cellular signal and a backup phone while you traveling

When i used mini 2 with rc n there always notification to log in and very annoying in remote place where there no internet signal. Is this same as with rc2 and have to log in cause as far i know there no internet conection on rc or same as to have log in with wifi thanks

I'm having issues with recording audio on my RC2. I'm using the exact wireless mic I use for my RC1, but it doesn't connect. I'm forced to use my Rode wireless to screen record. Also, every time I screen record, eject my SD card for transfer, there are no files. I've formatted the card, switched to SD storage. Help.
