Guarantee they left the electronic traction control turned on during this... That would explain the car "hopping" during the turns.. its trying to fight the skid/drift, rather than allowing it to freely corner.

In my opinion this car is minimum 8.5 with everything combined. Even the base model is great at corners ( fun for road trips!) and handles like a coupe rather than a cross over SUV. Comfort wise it's better than you'd think!

Each of those SUV's have different characteristics. The Porsche is faster with better handling, The Q5 is a more refined drive and the Evoque is better off road.

In the U.S my understanding is there are 2 engines and both are turbo. One is 360hp and the other is 400. They should've just called the higher output turbo the Macan Turbo S. The lower Macan Turbo. Either way nice looking and good review.

One of my neighbors got one of these and I asked him if it was the turbo, he said 'yes it has a turbo' then I had to ask "yes, but is it the Macan turbo?"
I was never sure what it was until I walked around to the back of the car and looked for myself if it said Turbo on it lol

The Macan was probably in comfort mode. It is a Porsche so it has little to no suspension travel. My s2000 does the same thing.
Tiff took a smoother line because his old endurance car reflexes kicked in. When you race a car for 24 hours you have to be mindful of you're equipment.
Tiff was pretty funny when Vicki beat him by "0.05 G" and just had to needle him a bit. They seem to enjoy working together (and picking on each other!).
I would kick out the 3rd guy who gave the 7.5 score off the team!

Not tried the car on a race track yet but on the road it doesn't appear to exhibit any of the hopping traits shown up by you guys. I'll give it a go!

If it's named after the Indonesian tiger, it should've been pronounced 'ma-chan'... like Jacky 'Chan' last name.
The thing is there is another Indonesian word 'makan', pronounced like how you guys said macan... and it means to eat. :)

I'm guessing the "hops" were due to some form of active suspension in the car... Have you found out why, yet?
They did activate the sport mode, stiff the suspension and put the ESP in dynamic mode?
0:55 to 1:00 'Macan' the 'C' is pronounced the same as you said 'charcoal' or 'chip', rather similar to 'matcha' (green tea).. so it's 'Matchan' not 'Ma-khaaaaaaaan'. Just a little info from the country where the name was taken from.

It hops about like that, because they really have reached the limits of what a car that big and heavy can do. Sooner or later one of them will just let go, completely without warning and have a massive accident.
Yep 😄 before anyone tries to bash the car for it remember that this is an SUV. With a high C.G. There only so much you can do on a track unless you do some serious aftermarket... But that would kill the purpose of the car.

xBuzz996 Frankly, it shouldn't get all bent out of shape in a turn....considering this is a nice smooth un-broken track, how bad is it going to be on "real" uneven, imperfect roads?
xBuzz996 There are fair number of reasons, suspension, ESP, engine. The Macan was trying to "catch" itself which led to the hopping. A LOT of cars with ESP, that use the brakes aggressively, have this problem, especially if the ESP is too sensitive and/or the vehicles actual handling limits are not high enough.
The torsion bars are very stiff, and with good road tires the car was pulling over 1 G in the corners.
1G is massive, specially for an SUV and with all that weight up high, the car loses grip momentarily and grips again, which makes it hop like that
if the v6 diesel in here can be tuned to the numbers the cayenne v6 diesel makes when tuned, it will be a torque beast.
This threesome have a good-natured vibe among them, and the result is highly enjoyable videos where the car is the subject, not the star. From their rolling commentaries we get a good idea of the nature of the vehicle they are reviewing. But unlike most of their competition, they do not suck up to the manufacturer or indulge in self-serving cleverness. Which is not to say they're not smart! They are that, and funny, too, and they know what car enthusiasts want.

A correct spelling for word "Macan" in this Porsche is "ma-CHAN", not "ma-khan". because "C" letter in Indonesian spelled like "ch" in "cheer".

There is no non-turbo model of a Macan so you won’t be trying that out. The S model is a 3.0 twin turbo with 340 HP and there is the base Macan that is still reasonably sprightly considering that it is a 2.0 4 cylinder with a single turbo and 237 hp. For the price, the S model is probably the most bang for the buck if you still want to pull some G’s while accelerating, but to each their own.

Macan is the Bahasa Indonesia for tiger. The consonant of c is wrong pronounced. Pronounce the c letter like you pronounce the c in "charm" or "charge". The vocal is right already.

It is supposed to be pronounced "maatchaan" not "maachaan/makan" which means "to eat" in Indonesian.
Macan, the way Tiff pronounces it, means 'bunglow' in Hindi.
Fifth Gear, the way you pronounced it means "eat" in Indonesian and Malay language. The correct pronunciation is "Machan" altough it is spelt without the letter "H"....😂

Macan would be the Indonesian word for Tiger (correct), but the pronunciation is horribly wrong. Indonesian c's are pronounced "ch" and the second "a" sounds exactly like the first "a" and it's pronounced phonetically. So Macan would be pronounced "Machan" not "Makaan".

Jonny is an idiot. I drove the GTS model last week and didn't experience any hopping at the limit. The Macan is the closet you can come to an SUV version of the 911. It's brilliant. To comment on the Comments below comparing the Macan to the Audi Q5. I drove a QS5 and it's a good, but not even close the Macan in how it drives.
