I much enjoy your videos including this, realistic procedures to start, the comments and all the sounds. Real bikes and no fancy photoshopping. However theres a cut in this particular video, makes one think "okay it took at least 117 kicks to get the bike going, we know that sort of bikes, dont we :-D" -- how many kicks did it take?
I never understood why manufacturers like Vincent didn't fit electric starts. I once watched someone try for 20 minutes to start one of these. They were supposed to be "superbly engineered" (I have my doubts but anyway...) so surely that would include conveniences such as a starter? If mediocre car makers could do it, why not a "high end" bike maker? Just smacks of lazy thinking.
The last Vincents rolled off the production line in 1955. Virtually zero pre 1955 motorcycles had an electric start, various manufacturers had tried but the battery technology just wasn't there to make it a reliable option and the batteries had to be huge lead acid affairs. The first motorcycle to come with an electric start as standard is generally regarded to be the Honda CB750 in 1969, although Honda had been fitting some domestic models with electric start for about 10 years prior to this date with varying levels of reliability. Vincents were superbly engineered machines with many groundbreaking design ideas. With the benefit of modern technology there are now electric start kits that can be retro fitted to Vincent twins.
💥 One of the best motorcycles ever ✌
Over priced in a major way.

I had the same thought
In fairness he’s not used to starting a Vin, there is a technique…. Looks like a good bike to me.
I have a 49 Vincent now for 5 years, and I still need 20 plus kicks to get the first signs of live, good workout everytime :)
