Beautiful Parramatta Park My journey continues

Holroyd Park in Parramatta is another beautiful place to visit. The beautiful Park has a history of the first mechanised brick plant in the region and one of the earliest in NSW. Originally owned by John Goodlet and James Smith, originally a mill timber which later expanded into brickworks, pottery and glass works. Wow I love finding out the history of the places I visit, and wonder the amount of work these people put into making bricks that we dont think much about, Now days its more easier to make bricks of course. Going back in the 1800s, the conditions of the working environment was tough on the young workers who were paid 1 shilling per hour 9 hours per day, which is equivalent to our 10cent now. The young men were released from their jobs when they turned 21 as they became adults then and were needed to be paid adult rates.
