My fav season is Season 4 followed by Seasons 3, 2, 7, 5, 1 & finally Season 6 is the only one which I started to skip a bit through.

Heather's acting has always been wooden and bland.
She said that like it didn't matter at all. I love her acting though and she played that part of Amanda with perfection. I think that's the reason the network loved her so much, not to mention she boosted the shows ratings through the roof! She really didn't care about anyone but herself! Gotta love Heather Locklear.

They should have brought back Rhonda for an episode or two during this storyline concerning Matt's death. They were very good friends in season 1.

If they have known the cast members will leave which it started last episode of season 4 they should have ended season 4 billy & alison as couple jake & jo as couple Peter & Amanda the show ended with happy ending when tv show do changes or different cast that when shows go down
The whole thing sucked. First off, he wasn’t even in the whole episode. Second, he had no relationship with any of those people besides Jane and Michael, who was working. He couldn’t stand Amanda and yet she was the one he confided in for his secrets and not Jane? No way does that make sense. The show wasn’t even Melrose at this point. It was just shit. I dread when season 5 ends bc I know the suffering I have to endure for two more seasons in order to finish the series.

how could they kill Matt??? he was a saint, even Michael was impacted by his death. I am sorry for Matt's mom, she lost her husband, his oldest son, and now Matt in only 5 years. Horrible writing!
I know. When I saw this, I felt like that was a slap in the face of the mother who lost all the men in her life.

As they say in soap opera world, it was storyline dictated.
In other words, the writers couldn't think of any more stories for him.

The way they killed Matt off was also the same way they killed Sydney off and it was weird at first but then I think I got an understanding: the person who played as Matt and (Doug Savant) and the person who played as Sydney (Leighton) are married and their characters on the show were both killed off the same way: Car Accidents. It was just a coincides that they both left the show at the same time and didn't come back for like a year and so, the writers thought it would be best to kill them both off to give them a send-off. They should have never even done the episode like this and we never even got to see a funeral, all we got was a journal that Matt had "kept" secret for all these years. The way they killed the main characters off was just stupid.
Sydney fake her death and Michael helped her because she thought when she got ran over that it was someone from her past that was after her and she didn't want who she thought it was to go after Craig Sydney is in the 2009 reboot and she had to do jail time for faking her death and she ended up getting a drug problem because of the accident cuz she was always in pain and she ended up taking pills

I am gay and I loved Matt. The writers made the character of Matt miserable all the time. He was always falling in love with the wrong kind of gay men. He always falling in love with gay men who wanted wanted or felt they needed to stay in the closet. Rhonda and Jo should have came back for Matt's funeral. Do you all remember Rhonda from the first season?
At least they made him realistic! Of course some of the relationships were unrealistic, everyone's so hot:-)
To be fair Jane and Jo also had a long history of "falling in love" with the wrong type of men. EG: Money Swindlers, Attempted murderers, Cheats, Wife beaters.

Seems strange that Amanda will confide her deepest, darkest secrets to Matt. I never knew they were very close. I was expecting Billy to be that person Amanda would confide her secrets to (as evidently seen in her storyline involving Jack Parezi)
The whole thing was utter shit. Matt being killed off like this was cheap af. It was a way to get viewers back that they lost and it didn’t work. And ur right, he couldn’t stand Amanda. Jane or jo would’ve been who he confided in. And the only ones with real experience with him and a friendship was Jane and Michael, who wasn’t even there at the time of the death announcement. This was absolutely awful and why the show was dead at this point.
By this stage the show had become a Dumpster Fire, which is sad because the earlier 2nd and 3rd Seasons were "must see" amazing TV at the time IMHO.
The fact they brought Jane back and she was immediately all over Michael like a rash after everything he'd put her through over the past 5-6 years was just terrible inconsistent writing.@@kendall6515

I hated the way they killed Matt and I wasn't into this diary story at all... But this did give us the Eve storyline and Eve was the best thing to happen to the new cast, sadly she came in when the show was over. Shame, Eve was fantastic.

After season 5, "MP" is death. Most of the original cast left at the end of Season 5 leaving the best of the series. After ... nothing good.
They literally killed off Matt just so they could give him a "burn book" that could create some storylines. They did Matt so dirty.
I honestly forgot that Matt had died. Somebody should create a list of all the main characters who died as I imagine it's quite long.

If they wanted to create tension for Amanda, bringing back Caitlyn would have been a far better choice than killing off a beloved character.
Caitlyn was a shame bc she promised everyone would be sorry, yet we never seen her again. But yet they brought back Kimberley’s mother. Which made no sense bc she made peace with Michael when she left the last time. Then she gets mad again and then cried for empathy and then attacked again. That whole thing was stupid. Caitlyn made way more sense to comeback for revenge instead of the mother, who sucked anyways.
By then the show was written produced directed and starred the queen Heather Locklear

A one note show never works. You cannot just have one person drive the show. The main or season one characters had just as much focus as Amanda before season 5.
The only people sitting at the table who knew Matt the longest it jane & Amanda. None them know him that much kyle known him for a year Megan came in middle of season 5 matt left season 6 episode 1 this one of the reason why original cast should be on especially during this scene that would make sense
And he couldn’t even stand Amanda. Never once did they ever have a good relationship. And yet he goes to her for his secrets? And she’s the one that announces his death? That was stupid. Just like bringing back Kimberley’s mom. Just like Billy and Jennifer getting together. Kyle and jane getting together. Lexi going from poor soul to evil. The whole show was one shit fuck by season 6. Once Matt left, it was dead and should’ve been ended right then. Not carried on for two long, boring seasons.
Yes I agree they should have brought back some of the original cast and maybe even had them at a memorial service for him. I bet Rhonda took the news of him dying really hard off screen. They were really close friends during season 1. They should have had Rhonda come back for an episode concerning his death. Another thing that didn't really make sense to me was when Amanda went to see his Mom after he died (she was the one who gave Amanda Matt's diary). They should have had it be someone else because Matt didn't really have a close relationship with his Mom because she was homophobic.

The last time Jane left, she was strong and gotten through a rape, her adoption, and her relationship drama with Jake & Allison. She allowed Amanda to push her around at work and didn't put Amanda in her place. Jane should of punched Amanda, once Amanda fired her.

She was awful in this show. The whole new cast brought in from season 5 was terrible. The only one that was decent was Lisa rinna. Once she left, the show really had nothing left. Jane and Michael were there sure. But they ran their course. Amanda was the new Allison at this point. And Lexi was the new her. Neither satisfied their roles. I always thought season 7 was the worst not 6. Just because the cast in it made the show dreadful.

Next, this opens up a lot list of secrets about the tenants but Amanda's main secret comes out later on, she killed someone and allowed her friend Eve take the wrap, having spent 15 years in jail because of it. All of this plays out throughout the season, not to mention the added fuel between Amanda and Lexi over Peter, among competing for clients at their agencies.

I know Doug Savant chose to leave the show to pursue bigger acting gigs, but surely "Matt" could've had a better send off than this! He'd already left the show with his late brother's daughter. Why kill him off a year later? Awful! 😔

Which season is this episode?
The very first episode of Season 7 in Sept 1998. It was weird though because the last 5 or 6 episodes of Season 6 were delayed and were aired in the weeks immediately before Season 7 started.
Heather Locklear is usually great in this. But here? It's like she's on lunch break when she gets the news. It's not even like shock. Just lazy acting. Wow.

Cheap way to kill off a character. I mean what was the point? This did nothing for the show or character? Now if they do a reboot they have to explain how Kimberley, Sydney, and Matt all survived bc there’s no reason to have one if those three aren’t on it. I doubt now it’s happening. The best chance was after 30 years which was last year. With most of them in their late 50s-early 60s, I’d say it’s not ever going to happen again 😢

This first episode of season 7 was the worst anticlimatic episode ever. Never a season had started this badly.... not even 1x01!!!
This was a way to get viewers back, thinking Matt was coming back for an appearance or some old cast members. Instead we have Megan, Peter, Amanda, and Kyle who Matt had nothing to do with the entire time he was there. And Jane wasn’t the one that even announced his death, despite being the closest one to him besides Michael. This whole episode was so stupid. Everyone says season 6 was the worst. I disagree I think season 7 was. We got the worst character of all, Ryan here. He was worse than coop. Then we got the stupid eve/Amanda/Kyle/Peter thing, which was just her trading spots with Taylor or Lexi. Lexi was a poor version of Kimberley/Sydney/Taylor. I never thought she was a good character. And the whole show focused on Amanda and Kyle, kyle now. U know when he’s the main male character, there’s a bad sign.
