Great short interview with Maestro Ralph Towner..I would like to know who her father is ,that in which Ralph mentions he is an old buddy of his ? Does anyone know..great appreciated this post.
Been listening to Ralph since 1980 and not once seen an interview with him. A very modest guy considering his incredible potential. So much great music and collaborative work. Sargasso Sea will probably always be a highlight for me. And she is never over a hundred years old...
I got to see Oregon about 4 or 5 times with Colin Wolcott and Trilock. Just incredible. I also got to see Ralph in trio with Jerry Granelli and Gary Peacock in the early 80's. OMG!!!!!
@HeroicOaf Ralph is probably drinking some quality brew there. The Czechs have some of the best beers in the world. Pilsner Urquell is one good example. American Jazz & Jazz-fusion musicians that play to 50 to 100 people a night in small clubs in the US can go to Eastern Europe & suddenly play to 1000s of people a night.
God, maybe she could slow down the rapid fire questions and give him a chance to take a drag on his cig or have a swallow of beer ....these young, voracious sound-bite vipers ...sheesh!
Ralph Towner is one of the most ingenious musicians ever.
There are no words to describe Ralph and his music other than "sincere".
His writing is so unique, I wonder if he has ever written solo guitar works?
I just love his music! What a great composer for guitar. What a great player!
