This film "Living History" focuses on the career of Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd and his research expedition to the Antarctic in the late 1920’s to the early 1930’s. Admiral Richard Byrd was an American naval officer, explorer and had won himself the Medal of Honor for valor. His first expedition consisted of two ships and three airplanes with the flagship of the trip being the City of New York. On this trek, he and his crew conducted photographic expeditions and geological surveys. The film is presented by The News Magazine (:12) with American students being the targeted audience. Ships of the expedition are seen in the waters of the New York Harbor in 1930 after returning from their first voyage to the North and South Poles (:24). Admiral Byrd first appears at (:34) prior to celebrations in the streets of New York upon his arrival (:38). Byrd rides a parade car through the streets (:49). He is seen again 23 years later addressing students (:59) about the differences between the northern and southern poles. Footage follows of the North Pole (1:15) and the South Pole (1:25). Men of the 1926 expedition are seen donning thick cold weather gear (1:57) near the Josephine Ford Byrd Expedition plane. This expedition lead to the North Pole becoming one of the most strategic locations (2:15). The Josephine plane is seen returning to the expedition’s base at Spitsbergen (2:23). Men on the ground surround the plane as it touches down from the trek which took over 16 hours (2:27). The pilot, Floyd Bennett and Admiral Byrd are pictured together (2:35). Byrd returns to speak about avoiding war though he believed if it was to come to fruition it would take place mainly across the top of the world (2:41). Snow plows move snowy terrain across the arctic tundra (2:55). Footage follows of one of Byrd’s six expeditions (3:55) as he charts the 1,400-mile course (4:03). As their vessel neared the destination, it is seen cutting through large ice patches (4:13). The expedition arrives on the shores of Antarctica (4:25). Scouts raise the US flag (4:31). Native penguins of the area are seen (4:38). Men move blocks of snow which will be utilized for water sources (4:41). An aerial shot of the area known as Little America follows (5:19). Admiral Byrd returns from a scouting flight just ahead of a blizzard (5:29) as members of the voyage head below ground for shelter and to study the photographs taken during Byrd’s flight (5:50). The blizzard is viewed from above ground (5:55). Participants of the expedition take navigation classes in the underground shelter (6:46). The storage lockers which hold the camp members’ frozen food supplies are viewed (6:57). Meat is so deeply frozen it must be chopped with an axe (7:12). As the storm passes, the men resurface (7:23) and set to uncovering snow bound tractors (7:28). Dogs and dog sleds are used to carry supplies of important information retrieved on the trip (7:40). The drivers of the dog sleds are seen returning to ships which were being loaded up with supplies (7:47). The film begins to wrap up as Byrd appears for a final time to talk about returning to Antarctica (8:09). The film had been produced by Warner Brothers Pictures Inc. (8:46).

Not really. The US Navy knew if the Northwest Passage opening up it would justify more funding, and all that was needed for the Northwest Passage to open was slight warming of the surface. Spreading that rumor was an effective way to win the Pentagon Wars for budget priority.

He found a lush forest, advanced civilization, coal the size of gigantic boulder's, Mammoth's,rivers lakes. Not just a frozen wasteland. Also found a huge frozen wall with only a few entry points. His artist on the boat drew pics of the horizon and all the colors of the spectacle.

They couldn't find the depth near the wall. It's interesting book. The other journal supposedly he wrote and was suppose to come out at his death. He was sworn to secrecy. While alive.

I still remember waking up to the hollow earth. I remember seeing an interview with Admiral Byrd, and his detailed account of what he saw. In Operation High jump, they accidentally came upon the hollow earth entrance. He said he was escorted by flying saucers with swastikas on them to the inside of the earth. He went into detail about the scenery, seeing giants, seeing cities made of crystal, mammoths, and the list goes on. He also said he spoke to their leader and he referred to Admiral Byrd and his crew as "surface dwellers."

I’ve never been interested in conspiracies that much but this one just shook me. The fact that someone went on an expedition, saw “something”, there’s very little information shared even till this day, and there’s more than a couple explanations. I don’t believe in the inner world because geographically that just doesn’t make that much sense, but archeology or recourses I find way more believable and interesting. I just want more credible facts and less rumors, there’s something happening here

Here's my gut feel: A military operation bigger than they want the public to know they were there for specific reasons. The amount of food they were 'storing' was huge. Bigger than they required for the operation there was reports of shipping containers filled with bread deliberately being buried under the snow. There were atmospheric nuclar weapons tests done at the pole and the possible shield effect they seem to provide from other radiation particles or something (not to sure). I'm going to go out on a limb here and say they also wanted to look at the effect these explosions would have on the earths magnetic feild. Also pick up any secret Nazi bases they missed previously.

The c47 ended up on its back and the adventure began. After getting water back in a battery he got a radio working, and got an icebreaker headed that way. They had to walk some distance to contact icebreaker. A storm hit them and they dug into snow for protection but Jim had frost bite so bad they wanted to amputate both legs, he refused but had pain the rest of his life. They named an ice shelf in antartica after him. He was a top of line pilot and a good man.

My Uncle Ted Petras, a Marine Sergeant, flew Admiral Byrd in a Beechcraft Staggerwing. He would be 107 if still alive. He collected penguins on everything the rest of his life! !We loved him so much.

I grew up near Byrds last home.(Dallas, Texas) I have been through his old map room. I have watched his T.V. and Navy film archives and he was rescued seemly from every expedition he ever went on. 🙄 His son passed away this last year. His last home was an amusement park, and theater, and there was a small lake between the park and his home. He moved there, as his wife Mattie Caruth Byrd, was from a mile away from the house, across the street from the first Nieman Marcus store. The mall was built on Caruth land. "09.10 Hours - Both Magnetic and Gyro compasses beginning to gyrate and wobble, we are unable to hold our heading by instrumentation. Take bearing with Sun compass, yet all seems well. The controls are seemingly slow to respond and have sluggish quality, but there is no indication of Icing!
09.15 Hours - In the distance is what appears to be mountains.
0949 Hours - 29 minutes elapsed flight time from the first sighting of the mountains, it is no illusion. They are mountains and consisting of a small range that I have never seen before!
09.55 Hours - Altitude change to 2950 feet, encountering strong turbulence again.
10.00 Hours - We are crossing over the small mountain range and still proceeding northward as best as can be ascertained. Beyond the mountain range is what appears to be a valley with a small river or stream running through the center portion. There should be no green valley below! Something is definitely wrong and abnormal here! We should be over Ice and Snow! To the portside are great forests growing on the mountain slopes. Our navigation Instruments are still spinning, the gyroscope is oscillating back and forth!
10.05 Hours - I alter altitude to 1400 feet and execute a sharp left turn to better examine the valley below. It is green with either moss or a type of tight-knit grass. The Light here seems different. I cannot see the Sun anymore. We make another left turn and we spot what seems to be a large animal of some kind below us. It appears to be an elephant! NO!!! It looks more like a mammoth! This is incredible! Yet, there it is! Decrease altitude to 1000 feet and take binoculars to better examine the animal. It is confirmed - it is definitely a mammoth-like animal! Report this to Base Camp."

At about the 7:40 mark it says the dogs sleds were taking "vital information" collected from the expedition back to the cargo ships. With the descriptions given by the narrarator there is nothing but snow and ice. My question. Was snow and ice considered "vital information" back then?
Admiral bird's flight from the Little America Base Camp on the Ross Ice Shelf to the geographical south pole and back was roughly 1650 miles (850 miles one way). This was done in a 1928 Ford Tri-motor Airplane named _Floyd Bennett_ which had a cruising speed of 107mph, a top speed of 132mph, a stall speed (slowest flight speed obtainable without killing the engines) of 57mph, and had a *Total flight Range* of *570 miles*
Obviously, this doesn't come close to adding up correctly! Considering the entire flight was over a completely uninhabited region that had never before been seen or explored by man, there would have been absolutely *NOWHERE* for them to get more fuel or even land the damn thing!
You might say, "well, they must have carried the extra fuel with them inside the plane and could just add more fuel from the inside while they remained airborn."
Sure, that may _sounds_ like a logical explanation, but once you learn that the fuel tank's total capacity was *231 gallons* that explanation quickly loses any substance. Think about it. if a *full 231 gallon tank* allows you to travel a *maximum* of *570 miles* then they would've had to bring _at least_ an extra *462 gallons* of fuel to cover the distances they traveled. This would've been impossible since their aircraft wasnt even close to haveing enough physical space on board for all that fuel! Not to mention the extra weight that much fuel would have added to their already loaded down plane. Honestly, I don't think they would have even been able to get off he ground if they tried this ludicrous strategy. So to summerize, _how the hell_ were they able to travel _3X_ further than the aircraft was capable of?!
I wish I knew what Admiral Byrd and his 2 companions _really_ experienced during that historic 18h 45min flight over that vast unknown land down there at the very bottom of the world but sadly, i don't feel we ever will... 😞
Byrd flew a Trimotor on a non stop flight from New York to Paris, about 8,600 miles, in 1927.
NY to Paris isnt even half that distance.

If anyone want to go to inner earth, all they need is to own an airplane and fly it straight towards the rotation axis of earth, 90 latitude while ignoring compass, fly thousands of km beyond magnetic poles located at around 80 latitude parallel. Most people today have visited the magnetic poles where compass points to, almost no one today have visited rotation axis of earth which is prohibited. You wont reach the rotation axis of earth if you follow the compass because compass will guide you back out if you follow it, resulting in you going in circles around 80 latitude parallel instead. Also your airplane will likely get shot down if you reach the rotation axis of earth. If you avoid getting shot down, you will fly into the polar openings naturally created by centrifugal force, and after venturing 3000+ km into the polar openings, you will reach the inner earth skies where earths plasma core acting as a false sun hovers directly over the head 24/7.

I study the antartic treaty and my goodness, the cooperation for wild life is a mere miracle considering that 90% of the world is territory and natural resource robbery, i am in new zealand the ice is meant to grow so close in winter months that i always wonder how they go dark for 6 months light for 6 months but we are not influenced at all, we are day nigh day night. We know Ice is amazing for preservation and especially without chemicals, And when they promised us passenger liners down there the first one crashed killing over 100 people which scared society into never asking again ......
