    I was the first Italian mountain Trial rider using a lot previous EM model with a lot of satisfaction.
    Then I bought this model first release, BUT IT SWITCHES OFF ON THE TOP OF AN HIGH SLAB... is a miracle I had no injuries (thanks to God and full body protections).
    As an electric bike switch off... the rear wheel is free of rollback... and you have 70kg throwing you backwards... suddenly!
    As an endothermic engine switches off the rear wheel is locked... and may work as a pivot point to have a chance to safely get out of troubles!
    Moreover as charge get lower the power and torque charge, making harder to climb the same obstacle and also causing the battery protection to switch off the motor... making you roll back !!
    REALLY DANGEROUS KIND OF BIKES FOR TRIAL !
    Unfortunately, until someone will die or have serious injuries no-one will keep my alert as a serious matter... I have told this to importer and hope has arrived to producer... but nothing has yet done... priority is ROY (Return Of Investment) not human safety!
    By my side I have abandoned Electric for more safety Montesa 4RT, as you can see on my channel !
    BE AWARE!

      I experienced the rollback when not making it up a hill and almost bit the dust. I was caught by surprise! 😳 Short video to come tmrw.
      The 2024 has anti rollback now and the 2023 is supposed to get a software upgrade to get it I believe. That's a really good point and safety 1st. 👍

      @@TrialsProgression Yes I know but it Works only if the circuit is on...
      Unfortunately if it happens that the bike switch off - as happened to me - ... the wheel can roll back freely even in the last release (as my importer friend says to me few monts ago).

    I think this is a great purchase, congrats Tom! To me in makes sense. Im trying to practice in my back yard without annoying the neighbors on my Beta 300, this would be perfect. Ive bern eyeing them too but need to save much more $$$. Enjoy and let us know your continued evaluations.

    Had one since ‘21. Got it because I’m in an urban environment. Lots of fun to ride around my local parks or mess around on when camping. Also started doing trials event and its been a perfect machine for my experience level. Very excited about the factor-e as its a big upgrade from the 21 with the addition of gears, increased range, upgraded shock and fully programmable.

    I've had the same model for two seasons. First trials bike and a great bike. It's better than I hoped. I live in the suburbs and can practice in the backyard. I'll also ride it in places that I wouldn't consider on a gas bike.
    A bit heavier compared to gas as you say and easy to maintain. I think the clearance to the skid plate is a bit lower as well.
    I've focused on turns of all sorts and now starting to work on bigger obstacles with zaps. I have seen your progression in that area and I am impressed. I've never heard of the zap deficiency for the EM before. A causal look at your riding the EM here looks like you are zapping fine, but you are saying big zaps? Looking forward to hearing more feedback on your EM over time.
    I think electric bikes have the potential to help the sport and offroad riding in general. More and more trails have closed over the years as we compete with others for trail access (hiking, mountain biking...).

    • @TrialsProgression
      @TrialsProgression  7 месяцев назад

      Great for suburbs 👌. Good observations, and I think you're right on the skid plate.
      I can't get the same pop from the clutch so zaps require more body effort than I used on the trs. Yeah, hard to get up quite as high on some bigger logs.
      Splatters with a kicker worked better than I anticipated. Short video to come tmrw.
      Thanks for your support.

    All of your comments are spot on. I strongly considered an EM before I got the second gas powered trials bike. Today I still think about the benefits of going electric. Getting one in the next year is still very high on my list.

    I’ve got a surron and have been trying to learn trials skills on it… not to get into the sport of trials but just to improve my overall riding ability and be able to have fun on a wider variety of terrain. Look forward to seeing how trials moves are performed on the electric bikes without the use of clutch, flywheel, etc.

      My $3000 Talaria XXX is way less expensive than EM and I can do trials on it without a clutch. The turning radius is wide but I found I can do front wheel hops if I set the fork damping to zero.

    I just got my first trials bike a two weeks ago after wanting one for years but could never find one local. Got one that needed some work and good enough price to have it delivered so finishing up getting it running good this weekend. I did the Redbull TKO a few months ago on my surron so I love electric but next year I will be probably racing on my beta xtrainer so needed a trials bike with a clutch to master the skills to transfer to the beta and be able to ride mid week(how I came across your channel looking for backyard obstacle ideas). I would love to have one of these but location and price are prohibitive at the moment. If the motor ever lets go on the TXT I got Ill just convert it to electric(ive done several gas to electric conversion) by mounting the motor where the crank sits so it still has a clutch, otherwise in a few years I'll pick up one of these as they fit what I do and skill level as I dont think I'll ever get crazy advanced and just need it for hard enduro, similar to what Rich Larson does. Ive used my surron like a trials bike a few times and its very capable but its hard to transfer the skills needed with it not having a clutch so a trials bike is absolutely needed.

      Awesome. Thanks for watching. With the EM, have a clutch and tick over makes this a really easy transition from gas bike. Comes very naturally, at least for me. TKO is no joke. They let you ride that WITH THE OTHER DIRT BIKERS while you on a surron? 😳

    You said Electric Motion compel you to practice turns, bike control etc.
    I believe those same techniques should also be learned on a petrol bike.
    In my opinion (based on experimentation) I find that maintaining grip on the rear tire of an e-bike on a slippery surface is significantly more challenging.
    Perhaps cause the one-and-only gear is so "big" that the rear wheel starts spinning really easily. Heard they have done something to fix this in 2024 model.
    Mecatecno Dragon Fly had the same problem + frame is a bit wobbling in rocky sections.
    There's a reason why top national and international riders haven't yet started to ride Electric Motion bikes, except for the French Electric Motion factory rider Gael Chatagno. His bike is significantly more powerful than the standard model.

    • @TrialsProgression
      @TrialsProgression  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes good points. I have and continue to practice those same techniques on my TRS. And also very true, in the mud once rear tire traction is lost, it spins faster and more freely. So it compounds the issue. I didn't know they are trying to sort that on the 2024, so that's interesting to see what they can do.
      I don't think I'm ditching petrol bikes, there something to learn from E bikes as well. For me that's body positioning, then I'll use that as I move back to gas.
      I'm having fun with it and it's interesting how much of a divide there is among riders. 🤷‍♂️

    I have been playing with an oset 24r for a month now, and now I really want to extend my trials experience. What are you seeing for battery life? I get 2-2.5 of trail riding.

    • @TrialsProgression
      @TrialsProgression  7 месяцев назад +1

      Rich Larson and many many others say 4-5 hrs of straight riding. That's enough to finish a trial for sure. EM riders in our club finish with 30% or more left.
      There's also regeneration braking that will add in battery life going downhill. I don't have that accessory lever, just a button that's a little tricky to use as is.
      I haven't ridden it straight long enough to measure battery life myself. I might try to time that specifically this month though.

  • @gregmossed

    I really thought about getting one. I'm currently selling my 300XCW because i dont have time for all day enduro rides anymore, and tbh I'm tired of the noise and smell. Was considering an EM, the pseudo bikes like Talaria/Sur-Ron, or just a gas trials. Ultimately went with a Vertigo, because the deal from a friend was too good to pass up but also because the EM resale just scared me. Felt like it'd be easy to lose half its value in a year. I'd LOVE love love to be electric, but i don't think it's really in my budget yet.

    • @robertslinger3811
      @robertslinger3811 7 месяцев назад +1

      They hold their value very well (at least here in EU), I think partly bcs there is so much less to go wrong or wear out. Second-hand, models with clutch are a must (the clutch is great, and adjustable), newer ones with regen brake even better. There is still a slightly steeper devt. curve than other bikes, but it's already pretty iterative, so value will hold. For nomal mortals, an EM will never be the limiting factor for your riding. Gael Chatagno placed well in Trial 2 and the 2022 SSDT on a bike which was stock apart from an elite-level clutch & suspension setup. I've tried one & would buy in a heartbeat if my budget would stretch to it. Of all the ppl I know who have, none want to go back to a petrol bike.

      @TrialsProgression  7 месяцев назад

      Vertigos are great. Happy riding. And I sold my Enduro as well bc I just didn't ride it as much.

      @@robertslinger3811That's good to know. If I could have 2 or swing a newer one I would. But being limited to one (used) bike, with some extra gas I can still do longer trail rides occasionally. Who knows, in a year I might decide that isn't worth it and switch. I really hate air filter cleaning haha
