  • On this LT I talk about switching from my Cigars of the Pharaoh Surfboards 9'4' to my "modern hotdogger" William Dennis Surfboards 9'6" Tommy Dane 2 Model . I make a quick explanation on the difference of both boards and I talk about swapping fins on the WD Surfboard for a different feel and performance.

Let me guess: Longer fin = more lengthwise roll stability, Less Area fin = less yaw (axis up/down) stability.
..so, turns well (easily) and yet doesn't roll over (does "flat" turns and resists dumping you off the sides)..?
Probably nice for nose riding (yaws via lateral weight-shift and "insensitive" to roll).
    ..just guesses. :)
    Aloha hoaloha! :) 🤙

      Mahalo to you!
I would phrase it this way. Less fin area will loosen up board when engaging tail turning. More fin area will increase stability and hold while on the nose. I also feel like a pívot fin (which has much area) provides more “torque” of the bottom turn and cutback. The trick in my opinion is using the right fin for the conditions and for what you are looking for in your session. I like the idea of a happy medium fin like the Miss Lucy K.Dahlin by Fins Unlimited.
