Andy, we LOVE your video!! My 18 month old can't get enough of it and we all walk around quoting snippets from the video. You're a legend in our household 😂💪 "It's gone down a tenner!", "Let's see what this badboy can do!"

Bought one of these about 4 yrs ago to supplement my petrol strimmer for lighter work.
All I can say is that it’s the best £28 I’ve ever spent on garden tools. Surprisingly good for the price and the battery lasts so long it’s not run out on me yet. I charge before using and after 20 mins it’s still going strong.
Oh and I’ve not replaced the line yet! It does only get used 2-3 times a month but still.
For grass and light weeds, it’s perfect 👍

Got one of these when marketed by B&Q , but green, 3 years ago and still going strong. Great bit of cheap kit.The whole thing for the price of a cheap battery pack. You cant really go wrong.

Hi Andy, side subject but I see the Lidl 20V battery range are good value with a 4Ah for about £25 (plus charger). Shame they don't supply a generic mating connector so it could be easily used in home brew projects. I guess I could see if I could 3d print a connector. Ideas, ideas.

Interested to know if the batteries are mechanically compatible with any other brands we may already have e.g. Lidl/Parkside or the screwfix ones. Don't want to build up a stock of different batteries.

It’s a good point, I reckon there’s a chance all these cheap tools come from the same Chinese manufacturer so it could be likely.

Not bad, a cordless strimmer is well worth it, just pick it up and go, no faffing with wires, especially in larger gardens. I have a Ryobi ONE+ cordless strimmer which is a bit more heavy duty but also more expensive. It uses the same 18v batteries as my other Ryobi tools which is the main reason I bought it.

I expect in the next video you to take apart the battery and fit it with twice the voltage and 4 times the Ah so you can use it to strip paint off a submarine.

Andy, great video . .got one last week from Argos (via eBay) £40 + £4 delivery. Nice and does the job, ran for c. 35 mins on full charge ... thinking ahead to when the line runs out, what would you recommend as a replacement, believe 1.4mm sufficient and is it easy to wind onto the spool ? cheers

  • @ahaveland

£30 worth it just for the batteries and motor, and ditch the rest!
Can use the guard to brace against the wood so the nylon doesn't get frayed, or make wheels for it so it holds a line.
I prefer more natural gardens hospitable for wildlife instead of OCD lawns! :-)

Wilko and Poundland both stock rolls of replacement generic strimmer line very cheaply, that work fine with this strimmer. Manual recommends using 1.2mm or 1.4mm line
