Meant to use the guard against walls/raised areas to stop the line breaking lol
Bought one of these about 4 yrs ago to supplement my petrol strimmer for lighter work.
All I can say is that it’s the best £28 I’ve ever spent on garden tools. Surprisingly good for the price and the battery lasts so long it’s not run out on me yet. I charge before using and after 20 mins it’s still going strong.
Oh and I’ve not replaced the line yet! It does only get used 2-3 times a month but still.
For grass and light weeds, it’s perfect 👍
Picked one up today for £30. Well worth the money, does a decent enough job.
Trance music and strimming go hand in hand ;)
Andy, we LOVE your video!! My 18 month old can't get enough of it and we all walk around quoting snippets from the video. You're a legend in our household 😂💪 "It's gone down a tenner!", "Let's see what this badboy can do!"
😂awesome!!!
So I'm watching a guy strim his garden now ha and I dis my misses for watching love Island 😂
It happens to the best of us😅
Well, at least this is useful information. 'Love Island' is for the brain-dead.
Got one of these when marketed by B&Q , but green, 3 years ago and still going strong. Great bit of cheap kit.The whole thing for the price of a cheap battery pack. You cant really go wrong.
I would never shop at that shop since seeing how many returns they got .I worked nights shopfittig at argos hundreds of returns daily .
Yeah, I've heard that.
I never thought a I would find a vlog on a colorless strimmer so interesting. Keep em coming Andy! 👍😊
Haha me either!
Hi Andy, side subject but I see the Lidl 20V battery range are good value with a 4Ah for about £25 (plus charger). Shame they don't supply a generic mating connector so it could be easily used in home brew projects. I guess I could see if I could 3d print a connector. Ideas, ideas.
Not bad, a cordless strimmer is well worth it, just pick it up and go, no faffing with wires, especially in larger gardens. I have a Ryobi ONE+ cordless strimmer which is a bit more heavy duty but also more expensive. It uses the same 18v batteries as my other Ryobi tools which is the main reason I bought it.
big brother is watching iv just been on argos website looking at this
I have got this same model strimmer and find it amazing! I live in a small ground-floor studio flat that has a very large 42m2 garden and this does the whole lawn on one charge!
So it's worth buying as I'm after one and wasn't sure.
Thanks Andy , this video came at just the right time , I’ve reserved one for collection tomorrow 👍
Haha! 👍👍👍
I expect in the next video you to take apart the battery and fit it with twice the voltage and 4 times the Ah so you can use it to strip paint off a submarine.
How did you guess?!
£30 worth it just for the batteries and motor, and ditch the rest!
Can use the guard to brace against the wood so the nylon doesn't get frayed, or make wheels for it so it holds a line.
I prefer more natural gardens hospitable for wildlife instead of OCD lawns! :-)
Can you do a video how to redo the spool?
I need to know this too! My wire has disappeared lol
Just had same problem. Had to remove the grey guard. Grip the outer spool (which is tricky) and twist and push down on the inner. Just sort of happened for me after 30mins of trying to get it to work! Hope that helps
How fast does the blade go any one know ad are they any good iv got to small ish gardens
How do you change the strimmer wire
What's the opinion after a few years? Battery OK? Still recommend ?
Still going strong
Thought you were going to butcher it to see if it could be used for a budget ebike conversion...
Like it when someone to the point and none of this waffling before testing. By the way, it's now £50 from Argos
Hi Andy, do you think the strimmer can be used to cut weeds and tall grass on an allotment?
Hay Andy have you seen the power leg knee pads?
I know you don't need them but intresting.
Thanks for your video s
can you replace the battery?
Interested to know if the batteries are mechanically compatible with any other brands we may already have e.g. Lidl/Parkside or the screwfix ones. Don't want to build up a stock of different batteries.
It’s a good point, I reckon there’s a chance all these cheap tools come from the same Chinese manufacturer so it could be likely.
I might get one soon try it out
By the way I bought two Redback 120 volt weedeaters for 100 dollars a piece. There great!!!
The wire in ours has gone, we dont know how to remove it to replace the wire, any ideas?
Undo the base
Some unscrupulous people would take it back and then buy another one from a different store to get the £10 off ! Not you or me though :)
Yeah... Wait till you try and source a replacement spool though! Only came across this video trying to fond out how to respool it from scratch.
Can’t you just buy some line and rewind it on to the existing spool??
@@andykirby yeah I've transplanted off a flymo spool now. Cheers
Wilko and Poundland both stock rolls of replacement generic strimmer line very cheaply, that work fine with this strimmer. Manual recommends using 1.2mm or 1.4mm line
He changed shoes part way through
can you use it to strim shrubs
Thanks Andy I was looking for one. Got it this morning, perfect👍
Interested. Looks good. But I'd probably avoid just because of teh stupid music on this video. Why do people think a soundtrack adds something ? The whole point of RUclips, for me anyway, is its media without all the TV production crap included.
Music is down to taste of course. I make all the music for my channel. Thanks for the feedback.
Why did the guy seem so pleased that the thing was still going when it couldn't have had any more than 20 mins use.
20 mins is good for a £30 strimmer
Andy, great video . .got one last week from Argos (via eBay) £40 + £4 delivery. Nice and does the job, ran for c. 35 mins on full charge ... thinking ahead to when the line runs out, what would you recommend as a replacement, believe 1.4mm sufficient and is it easy to wind onto the spool ? cheers
Can you get spare batteries or would you hack it?
Now gone up to £40 again ...
Andy I sh** myself when I seen you messing with that wire with the battery still in😲 it'll take your finger off! We love you to bits on here man, so please no. Cracking bit of kit though. PS: your new mid drive kit is looking sweet, can't wait for video.
Haha yeah watching that back I did cringe a bit 😅😅 mid drive is coming! I’m posting daily pictures on my Instagram, video should be next week.
@@andykirby yeah Instagram is where I've seen it! This is gonna be gorgeous Andy🚴🚴. Just bought a new mid drive myself to add to the fleet, check out My Instagram instagram.com/likeher9/
Great Andy,do they do them for my window box ..??
Nope, only doors and spheres :(

Don't buy battery strimmer the are bad
I just watched 5 mins off grass cutting hmmm
But strangely you enjoyed it right?? I was in two minds whether to put this video out but it was weirdly satisfying watching the strimming when I played it back😅
