on windows 10 there was an option to select the same device for sound output AND input... i hate that there isnt a way to do that on windows 11...
I just hate windows 11. Why they keep trying to change things that work pretty well already is beyond me - it's like someone with ADHD is at the wheel with the design of the stuff.

It never showed my earphone's or headphone's mic in any of these panels even when it was windows 10 and now that its windows 11, its still the same. It only shows "microphone array" and thats default, i think thats my laptop's inbuilt microphone? and even when i am using my headphone its using the inbuilt microphone of my laptop which catches all the noises around and its really disturbing
Does your laptop have separate headphone and mic ports, or what is the connection type of the headset?
@@TropicalTech There is only one port, 3.5mm one, and my headphones are wired, at one point it convinced me that my microphone is broken, brought new earphones, didn't work aswell.
then I tried them in my phone and the mic was working, idk what's the issue
That's strange, does it show any other devices in the sound control panel when you right click and show disconnected and disabled devices?
@@TropicalTech It shows only two, one is "speakers" (inbuilt) and "headphones" (that I am using for output)
when I go to "recording" section all I see is "microphone array" under that they have mentioned "Realtek(R) Audio" "Default Device" so I am guessing that's my inbuilt laptop's microphone. And there are no external mic appearing in that list, both disabled and disconnected devices are checkmarked aswell.

my device dosent really have a separate port for mic , my mic can only fit into the headset port .

You'll need a splitter cable to take the single port into separate ports

Hi, Your video helped me a lot. I understood the mic is working only by taking a test. But when I speak on the mic, It doesn't give any echo or feel by my senses (!) that the mic is working. I am using Fifine T669. (I hope you got my point Bro!) Really thanks to you! And, How I can check my mic capability or effectiveness on the performance after recording a video? What parameters will show the mic is working fine?
You could get Audacity to help you monitor and test recordings

Good video. Not a computer person and just bought a new Asus ProArt. Found out it doesn't have a mic jack. Purchased an Asus Mic Adapter. Second day trying to get it to work. Your video was great and I was hopeful but still can't get either of my mics to work on the adapter. The laptop mic does work but for voice-over editing RUclipss doesn't sound that good. Any ideas? Both of the mics I was using on my 15 year old Windows 8.1 machine worked fine. They are TRS. My current thought is I may need to purchase a new mic with TRRS, or not use the Asus adapter and get a regular TRS to USB-C adapter. I really don't know what I'm talking about but that my next toss at the dart board. Asus chat wanted me to mess with my BIOS and there's no way I'm messing with that.

@@TropicalTech Wow, it did, but the quality is not so good. Sounds like I'm in a box with background noise. I ordered 3 different cable adapters and this one JUST came in and works great, Dukabel DC4 3.5mm TRS to TRRS Cable Adapter. Thanks for your help.
how do i get a mic that's on a headset to work? because in my settings it says 'Some settings are managed by administrater' i dont know how to turn on my mic thing and im very confuesed

I got the astro a10 headset and hyperx cloud stinger headset. Both mics do not work on windows 11 but both do work on windows 10. Do you know a fix for this? The mic option will not show up on windows 11 for both head sets but I can hear through the headphone. Just the mic doesn't work on W11.
I'm using a laptop and pluging both headsets into the 3.5mm plug.
My headsets show up for listening just not speaking.
Can you show me how to set up single channel audio in windows 11? I only see 2 channel audio options and when I'm recording with nvidia shadowplay it only plays back through the left ear/speaker.
I'm not sure that would fix it, the issue sounds like its part of Nvidia shadowplay, is there settings in there that would fix it?
@@TropicalTech I've been trying. I have downloaded some software to force the recording to copy the audio from the left side channel to the right side channel. Seems to work now.
So I just got a blue yeti mic for my windows 11 pc, and I'm able to record sound from it, but when I play back, the quality sounds no different than that of the original quality that my pc audio recorder already has. I feel like I'm the only one with this issue. I'd really appreciate some answers.😁
You probably failed to set it as your default input device for communications, or you might be speaking into the wrong part of it (for that microphone you are supposed to speak into the front of it)
Hi there, my kotion each gaming headset is connected. but there's barely to no audio going in. I tested my microphone and it comes up with about 6% total volume. Input volume is max and I even troubleshooted it, is this that the microphone is not compatible with Windows 11? It says its a ps4 +5 and PC one. Or is it the type of the input thingy? Please respond to this 🙂

my microphone was an internal one. some how it got deleted and now for all your videos l get stumped. it is like there never was a microphone
but with mine, i have one headphone with a mic attached to it, but on my pc it has a mic and headphones port separately.
You’ll need a splitter cable, they’re not very expensive (a few dollars). Some headsets will come with them in the box

@@Catxzy1 It should still work in a laptop with a mic port or mic/headset port. It may also work in a phone if you have one that has a headphone port to test it out.

What connection does it use?
@@TropicalTech its seen as realtek audio by my pc,the microphone was made by mobility lab and it is recognized as an output headset and its connected through cables by my pc(not bluetooth its a desktop microphone) I hope it helps to figure out my problem thank you for answering to me you are a good person
@@tutafeh309 If it's the small round cable, make sure it's in the microphone port rather than headphone. Does the device work as normal or is it not working at all?
@@TropicalTech there is only one port in my pc I can put my microphone cable in and its the small round cable(and my headphone cable use the wider ones) and my microphone is definitely not working at all but all my other device work just fine
@tutafeh309 You could try uninstalling it from the device manager, then reconnect it and see what it recognises it as
im on a hp laptopm i only see 1 port on mine...?
The mic on it’s own should still work in there, if not you might need a splitter cable
