How magical it was that John so generously gave you all those gifts!😊 I know they will all be put to good use. I loved the broconte visits as well. Please do reupholster those chairs. Can't wait to see Tracy enjoying her rocking chair😍
John handed so many of his treasures over to you because he knew they would be truly loved and cared for. He entrusted them to your wonderful family. It is quite evident that the three of you were very touched by his generosity and appreciated everything he brought. The world needs more people like John.
How generous of John to give you those things for the Chateau. You were like little boys who got what they wanted for Christmas. Please Terry reupholster those chairs 😂😂
@@ashleywaters7198 how wonderful - love when this happens. Your enthusiasm and genuine natures are drawing in the most wonderful things, whether it be viewers, volunteers, gifts etc. Thanks for sharing with us all x
It doesn’t surprise me that you have so many fans that want you to succeed in your restoration of that beautiful chateau. John could see his beautiful things living there how wonderful.
Absolutely amazing! You won’t ever forget John. There are such lovely people everywhere. Cannot wait to see it all take shape with you finding homes for all the things John gave you.x
The embroidery that you've received is a small copy of the most famous tapestry "The Lady and the Unicorn" (La Dame a la Licorne). It was done in a style the "mille-fleurs" after "thousand flowers" that decorate the background. The original tapestries of the kind were created in 15th centuries in the Loire valley for the chateaux of the most powerful nobles. The original tapestry consist of 6 panels depicting a lady and the unicorn. Your embroidery shows "A Mon Seul Dessir" (Only at my will) panel depicting a lady returning a necklace to the box, held by her servant. The original tapestry was discovered in the castle of Boussac by the French writer George Sand in 19th century. It was woven in 1490 for the wealthy merchant Jean Le Vistle to celebrate one of his appointments. It was first displayed to the nation in 1853 at the Musee Naional du Moyen Age in Paris and supposedly is there today. This tapestry is considered by many to be the greatest tapestry ever created.
Stephanie at Chateau de LaLande based a whole Christmas theme on this tapestry, including gorgeous wrapping paper and crackers~some of her dad's artwork seems inspired by this tapestry as well. ( :
I love how your appreciation to the gifts and visits you show. And how excited Terry was about getting the door handles, which by the way are beautiful! And how Ash was about his copper pans... You need to get him a kitchen lol. And how sweet is it that John brought Tracy a lovely rocking chair! Will you be putting a kitchen on the 3rd floor? Looking forward for the next video. You guys are a joy to watch.
That was wonderful……luv luv luv the Aladdin’s cave. What a beautiful generous soul John is! You are so blessed to have such a lovely follower! God bless him.
So funny, when you both walked into the brocante l was saying "Terry... don't look up!" low and behold 5mins later "ooooh look at the lovely chandeliers!" 🤣🤣🤣
Make sure to hang the tapestry out of direct sunlight so it won't fade quickly. The fireplace set and wall sconces are beautiful. How generous of your subscriber, John.
Such lovely gifts from John, and your appreciation of every bit of it is so nice to see. Tracy certainly deserves some moments rocking away with a cup of tea or glass of wine.
Serge is a beautiful man.. I had spent loads of money at this brocante.. if you need anything you should always ask him to look out for you.. he’s a star.. ✨✨
Hey guys put that unframed tapestry on a dowel or cardboard tube as you will have bad wear where it is folded causing thread damage just to keep it safe !! Great haul, you got some lovely stuff for your chateau. Thanks for sharing love your vlog. 🍷🍷🥰🇨🇦Lucill
Love the chairs, their crazy, and ! I think I have THE FLOOR LAMP, I bought in Germany. I have LOVED and Hated the lamp the moment I bought it, could never get rid of it. It belongs in Narnia 😊😁
Can you imaginge just how HUGE the Chateau seemed to John, given his spatial awareness, as evidenced by how much he was able to fit into his car??? Mind blowing!!!!
Just adding the chair you upholstered for Phil and Angelina looked grand. The two wooden chairs look typical English fireside chairs. Very comfortable. Thanks for the day out. Xx
Love your channel! Terry, just saw another of your chairs while watching Phil and Angelina's Chateau Life. Keeping my eyes open for more of those gorgeous chairs. Your work on the chateau and cottage is fascinating to watch. Would enjoy going to brocantes with you!
How wonderful of John turning up at the Chateau with so many gifts! The smiles on your face’s says it all 🥰 Can’t wait to see Tracey’s face when she sees her chair ! Take care 💖😍
The Lady and The Unicorn is a series of six Medieval tapestries found in 1841 in Boussac Castle in France and transferred to the Cluny Museum in Paris in 1863. The tapestries were woven in Flanders from wool and silk for the noble Le Viste family; from designs drawn in Paris around 1500…most likely by the Master of Anne of Brittany. Five of the tapestries are considered to be an allegory of the five senses. Smell, Touch, Taste, Hearing, Sight… The meaning of the sixth tapestry is uncertain: it is is larger than the others, and the only one with an inscription.
I’m loving shopping with you two. I’m laughing at the hideous things you hold up but love those two chairs you bought. I’d have bought the two leather chairs sitting nearby. I love chairs.
And that tapestry is stunning!! That represents hundreds of hours of needlepointing by hand. I am sure someone will know the reference, as these are often copies of famous paintings/images.
Also just want to say I so look forward to see what you are doing with everything. You really deserve everything for keeping all of us a part of your family adventure.
Lmao... Well now that John has given us an opulent fire accessory... mmm... Gonna need to discuss the installation of a fireplace with Ash... - classic Terry 😂😁👌 Seems perfectly reasonable. ❤️ Watching Terry giggle and do a bit of hopping about when he's excited is such a treat. Love how much love you guys are putting into this space!
The world could use a few more John's....a good reminder to pay forward and circulate what we have outgrown. He sounds like another version of Tony; a good and descent man. Brocanting (I think this is fast becoming an English expression) can be fun, perhaps someday Terry will seek out wholesale fabric centres in France for us to further explore and Ash will take us through the established gardens of France and garden centres. What, and I do mean, what, a life you have all created for yourselves! ❤️🇨🇦 Mariya
The Lady with the Unicorn. The original tapestries can be seen at the Musee De Cluny 28 rue Du Sommerard , 75005 Paris. Beautiful museum well worth a visit if and when you get to Paris for a short break.
You are all such wonderful humble people, you certainly deserve wonderful things. Glad for such a great ending, it made me forget about the Christmas chairs!😂. The chairs are beautiful and seem comfortable, but please, consider recovering them. I know Terry can do it!!!❤️
I really need to get my schedule back on track! I always LOVE shopping trips and treasure hunts with awesome finds in the end. 🥰 The gifts were amazing!
Those shops really were Aladdin's caves. Some beautiful things you have bought that will just look amazing in your chateau. Thank you for sharing with us.
What a lovely kind man to bring you all the lovely things, I'm sure when you place them in the rooms that you finish He will be so pleased. .Take care.x
💕The layout in the first brocante makes it easy & some really great rugs & furniture but I love the plant stands & the chairs looked comfy💕The second reminded me of a house clearance place💕What a lovely guy to bring you so much amazing stuff💕
I so enjoy watching you all. Thank you for taking us to the brocant (sp??). Just a note regarding the inscription you mentioned on the marble: more than likely it was I not J with the H S meaning In His Service. It is on many ancient to modern items representing the persons love for Jesus and that he or she has been set apart to Serve God. Margaret thought you should recover the chairs, I'm on the fence - if its original leave it. If you don't like it, either way hopefully you'll find fabric or even curtains which would be less expensive, of the era of the chairs/chateau. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!!! Really awesome of John to bring you all those gifts! Love you all. Keep up the good work
Someone needs to help the 2nd brocante organize. Bless them. Perhaps you could work there 8 hrs per week in exchange for things you need for the chateau. ❣❣❣ You have been so blessed today. God bless John!
Wow, how kind of John to bring you so many gorgeous goodies. It is incredible for him to be so kind but it just goes to show how much your work is appreciated. I laughed at the drone footage of the road. That’s nothing like the A1 I thought 😄. We have spent many happy Sunday mornings at junk shops in Richmond, North Yorkshire and bought beautiful goodies so I can see your joy in having a rummage around the French places. 🤭
It was like Christmas all over again. Everyone can see how appreciative all of you are with these "gifts". Love your videos. Keep up the good work. Maybe some day I can travel to France and visit your beautiful chateau. Thank you from Wisconsin in the USA.
Hello. You probably have already figured this out but your tapestries, rugs & fabric will store better if you roll them instead of fold them. Easier on the threads & you shouldn't get the discoloration at the fold lines. Keep up the great work. B from the USA.
OMG-LOL The second shop you visited, with so much stuff piled everywhere, reminded of a shop from my childhood, in the town I grew up in, Dartmouth Nova Scotia. Oh my ! What beautiful treasures you are blessed I hope you use it all in the Chateau and cottage.
