The series' creator is Toshiki Inoue, a longtime writer for anime and tokusatsu whose writing ranges from being great to downright terrible. He was actually the head writer for Death Note.
Sorry to say this but that's actually a thing in Japanese mythology that if it's always bathed in enough innocent blood it will become a type of demon that must feed upon the more and more blood I agree that the show is stupidly edgy but still that is actually a thing in Japanese mythology
Honestly, a story about demonic swords and an insane character who genuinely believes that his real mother was a demonic sword is a fun idea. Maybe not a masterpiece but it could be decent.
Btw why is it called “Swordgai the animation”? Isn’t “the animation” part reserved for adaptions from video games? But from what I looked into, it was just based off a manga. Like you don’t call Fullmetal Alchemist “Fullmetal Alchemist the animation”. So even the title name itself is poorly handled
I actually disagree that the "sword that kills too much becomes sentient and evil" premise is stupid, Saika from Durararara!! was a very interesting character also you fail to mention that the "semi possessed warriors eventually sucumb to the sword's evil and become the very monsters they hunt" was ripped off from Claymore
The idea of household-items taking on life of their own after either centuries of use or some sort of bloody tragedy is a part of japanese folklore, that is where the concept that many yokai comes from. And not to mention the legend of the Muramasa-blade who was rumored to curse the wielder with insatiable bloodlust, it even had to shed blood before it could be returned to its scabbard. If that doesn't sound like part of the premise of SwordGai, I don't know what is.
@@treadingwater86 one type of yokai, actually, tsukumogami and they usually act as guardians of sort as a form of gratitude for raking such good care of them
I’ll be honest, I binge watched most of this show before dropping it. Why did I watch so much of it? I don’t know and I still couldn’t tell you what it’s about.
the only reason I gave this anime the time of day was because Keita Amameiya, the creator of the Garo franchise, was the character and creature designer of this series.
There are ways to make standoffish asshole main characters funny or likable. Kazuma from Konosuba is an example. The comedy comes from the fact that it's making fun of typical isekai anime tropes. Or Yuri from Tales of Vesperia, or Velvet from Berseria. Yuri can be a bit of a dick, but he doesn't cross the moral event horizon, and multiple times, he has shown to be kind when the situation's appropriate. Velvet's case is she was a loving big sister who worked painstakingly hard to take care of her sickly brother before her world fell apart due to the Scarlet Night. Yes, Tales of Berseria is known for being edgy, but its edginess makes sense.
everybody here needs to watch the anime and then re watch it and see how you think of it cause it is a gem that has stood out to me like white in black
Oh wow ShadowACS talking about this Swordgai explains the reasons why I dropped Black Lagoon after 7 episodes. It wasn't just because of the facts that I hated the character of Revi and the bad language that the shows cast used and the cigarettes in it. It was also because it was too dark and edgy. I found Black Butler and Black Cat to be better because while they were still dark they had good humour and plot too I also preferred them because also had no cigarettes or bad language.
The only thing it has going for it is that I do believe that there is Japaeses lore about swords being sentient. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Otherwise, it sounds like a real mess of an anime. You've wanted some atrocious ones over the years. Maybe it's time for an update of some sort of worst anime top 10. Maybe even a best anime of some form top 10.
I definitely want to know what you think of a newer anime called "To Your Eternity". I've heard it compared a lot to Mushishi(which I havent seen) but its by far my favorite anime. Its written by the author of A Silent Voice as well
I finished the anime yesterday. It has elements that I really liked, like the Busoma designs, but I have to agree that it's not a well made anime. One of my main issues is, like you said, the "relationship" between Gai and his stepsister, Sayaka. I just didn't felt any chemistry between them. I actually felt more chemistry between Sayaka and Shin, until he too sadly fell victim to the power of the second shiryu. I really wish that someone would've rewritten show and made it better, because like I said, there are elements in it that I liked.
To be honest while this anime! It drove me to watch black clover! Let me explain in context: while after finishing the series I wanted something to take away the taste of the anime and I said (fuck it) I’ll watch Black clover (several episodes later) and I became a fan of the series!
Oh I saw this when it first came out!( I gave up after the first episode but that was just because I started watching ozark.) but I guess I appreciate that I didn’t waste my time and watch it.
The Seraph of the End Guren Ichinose light novels I found to be more interesting than the anime that had the Hyakuya brothers. Also The demons who were in those weapons the characters used had interesting personalities.
ruclips.net/video/5JrXZK3Pzek/видео.html well the first thing you see or that helps you when you call is your mother and when you want comfort you go to your mother the sword to gai gives him comfort and helps him when he calls to him the sword is more of a mother than his actual mother
Wow! Tell us how you really feel about it! I haven’t heard you hate in an anime since dears. Hopefully the next one will be better. Can’t be worse can it?
Well I kind of feel the same way over promised Neverland seasons whoever want it in the community was roasting it but I remember that show I didn’t even know there was a season two I only watched two episodes of season one I was weird it out and I I feel like I wanted to watch the remake of shaman king than that again
This reminds me of when I watched and read the books of Sao Alicization when Eugeo told Cardinal to turn him into a sword to kill Quinella. Though afterwards the sword transformation broke some of Eugeo's spirit life remained with the blue rose sword which was part of sword transformation spell of Cardinal's. I own the sao light novels and I do read them in my free time. I was happy that whatever was left of Eugeo in that blue rose sword was able to snap Kazuto Kirigaya out of his coma. Its just I still feel as though Eugeo was wasted potential. Eugeo had good character when he was still alive in general. I know Memories are everlasting. Hopefully Eolyne has better roles in Unital Ring when I finally get to reading V3/24 and V4/25 in April and rest of the future. Look have I different opinions to most people when it comes to Kirito deal with it. I found his character interesting throughout all seasons of Sao, books and the anime adaptations.
Agree. If reki still put kirito in a coma. Then he could leave eugeo with s30 alice. I believe s30 alice wanted to give her body back to the original. With kirito gone eugeo would have to find out on his own if he should listen to what s30 wants. Or deny it saying it's wrong that it's basically the same thing as murder. His moral compass could be challenge which would have been very interesting
@@MoltenBox I do see your points and agree. Tbh it was depressing to me seeing Kirito as a vegetable in a wheelchair. I was literally relieved when he eventually got better and stopped Gabriel Miller Emperor Vecta/Subtilizer and Poh/The Man in the Black Poncho/Vassago/Laughing coffin leader from wreaking more havoc in underworld with how monstrous they were. Those 2 were the 1st straight up dark villains in Sao. I still wonder if Mutasina is dark when I do eventually get V24 and V25 in the future. I am a subscriber of Gamerturk. I have heard a huge lot of information from him.
@@plains7000 like wise I've heard a lot too. I'm all but certain that the star king had something to do with eolyne looking exactly like eugeo. And I really wonder why?
@@MoltenBoxI've finished 24, 25 and 26 and wow the Unital Ring Books and they eventually got released over the years leading to my purchases of those books and they really invested me in this Eolyne's character sorry if I got off topic I guess Swordgai seems okay. Eolyne being a Eugeo lookalike with an accomplishments being one of the winners of that swordfighting Zakkaria Unification tournament and an Integrity Pilot Commander wow Reki has gotten good with this Eolyne.
I was already disappointed with persona 5 anime I thought it was gonna be great like the video game, but it was a little bit off. I can't put my finger on it, I really love persona 4, and it was really funny, and it was adapted really great
I avoided this anime like the plague since I first looked at the opening theme for the 1st season, since it looked quite uh...bad. Needless to say, glad that I didn't watch the anime. The dub sounded very stilted based on the clips shown but yet again, it felt like the vas had like nothing good to work with.

To be fair, and I say this with all due respect, Japanese mythology is probably some of the edgiest there is (and definitely the weirdest)
Fuck me man I was afraid that this anime was actually good and I just missed something. Glad to see I'm not insane.

Me and my friend have been looking for an anime to roast together so thank you lol
Perfect Friday night!!! New ShadowACS video

I think one action fantasy anime you may like is Chivalry of a Failed Knight.
