I go up on the roof fairly often, I just carefully use the open rungs on the side and above to clamber up there. It does require a bit of flexibility but it works for me
I like the design. I have been thinking of doing the same on my Lance 855S. I had thought of using 6061-T6 aluminum C channel as the cross bars rather than steel. Much lighter, corrosion resistant and doesn't need painting. Great job.
@@LocallyNomadic I bought 2 diesel ones that size, and wish I had bought one gas (generator) and 1 diesel. I'm not sure I can put gas in the diesel one though.
nice idea but wondering about the bag you have attached to the ladder above the cans. What kind of bag? How does it attach? and what do you have in it?
Thanks, it's called a Trasharoo bag. It waa originally designed for spare tires but works quite well on the ladder too, I use it to keep my trash in. It works quite well for most kinds of debris as its a tough ripstop material, including trash found while out exploring.
I'll use the ladder much more than as a hanger but maybe on the roof. So you don't go up on the roof?

Why did you put tape on outside pak? Uv protection?
To make it yellow for diesel, since the actual yellow version had been out of stock for awhile when I ordered.

Awesome I might do something similar since I just order a ladder for my subaru.
Nice DIY project, thanks for sharing
How thick are the steel plates?
1/4 inch but it may have been a bit overkill. 3/16 should work as well
